Basic Questions & StoryWhat do you think is the job of a Commander?
Help Coordinate the assets giving to them both shipside and planet/colony/groundside, making sure every department runs smoothly and accordingly while performing this tasks, attempting to keep their crew's morale high.

Why do you want to be a Commanding Officer?
I think it would help me grow more abilities regarding CMSS13 while also being able to help make RP more enjoyable in certain moments when possible for those around me, directly or indirectly.

What do you think you could contribute by being whitelisted?
I'd like to contribute by helping others with their RP Experience, while also trying to make CIC work at least a bit less stressful and easier to handle in the times im on operation, either as XO or CO, as i know from what i've seen that a stressed CIC cannot work as goodly as one that is under control and keeps calm when required.

How will your Commanding Officer behave? Describe their character.
I'd describe Mueller as a rather patient and assertive person when it comes to dealing issues that can be easily sorted out without the need for violence or intervention, a person who attempts to negotiate when possible with the intent to avoid any damage to both sides. Unless action is required, where the use of diverse methods to ensure a threat is neutralized will be used with hopes of making sure no bystanders or further personnel are wounded. Making sure both shipside and grounside pesonnel are safe and sound, while also making sure each department works properly.

Name and briefly describe your Commanding Officer's own ship.
    USS Quetzalcoatl - Retrofitted Ship

A modified Destroyer Type ship, repurposed for the role of Support and Defense, performing such task via the extensive use of CIWS and Point Defense System such as a modified variants of the M579 AA Gatling Cannon and the M820 Laser Defense System commonly found in the M577 Armored Personnel Carrier while also being equipped with several HIM-78 Sprint silos for both offensive and defensive capabilities.

The Quetzalcoatl was created in 1245 after an incident related with a transport convoy coming in contact with a section of the UPP's 2nd Fleet, and its subsequent destruction to Missile Based Weapons. The main purpose of it is to provide Point Defense for smaller ships against medium and small sized threats, while also acting as a minor ship hospital.

Your story (potential topics listed below)
Mueller decided to join the USCM at the age of 18 courtesy of family tradition, being raised in a family where most members belonged to some branch of the military, mainly influenced by his father and mother being related to this service branch, the latter decision to join the USCM came from the past promise to his now deceased grandfather to see space for himself as a way to honour his dream of becoming an Astronaut as a child back when Space Travel Technology wasn't as advanced, which lead eventually to them serving in the USCM. Mueller first rose to the rank of Lieutenant and Staff Officer, which lead to the reason he would go after the position of Lieutenant Commander and eventually Commander and Executive Officer, the reason behind this being what he saw when overwatching over the marine groups in several deployments, seeing as several operations would fail due to the lack of a secure supply line which would commonly cause the marine squads to take heavy casualties due to materials needed in the war effort, something that would influence his tactics in the future. After achieving the rank of Commander and as such Executive Officer, Mueller wasn't truly interested in the position of Commanding Officer at first, that's until taking look into the behaviour of fellow CIC personnel, seeing as they would commonly loose morale after certain events were to happen, examples being a push stalling or backlines being disrupted by harassers, once again implementing support tactics which would help keep the front steady and as such make pushes and eventually victory more common than in situations where the backline would be unprotected, eventually being put up for promotion after several years.

Regarding Operations of Mueller as a Commanding Officer:
Mueller is mostly known for Operation Falling Snow, Operation which took place from January 27th to February 1st

The Operation initially consisted of a simple patrol for UPP Remnants, at least from the intel they had received, but would soon become something much worst as time went on, it all started relatively normal, with Mueller deciding to set up an outpost in the mountainous terrain of the zone, specificlly in what he saw as the tallest mountain of the area, the reason behind this being explained in his own words "While the position might prove hard to set up in due to the climate, i'd rather look on the benefits of it, it could prove a valuable asset, specially for spotters and snipers, along that, there's a small plateau we could use for supply drops."

This decision however would prove vital in the near future, without their knowledge they had received data meant for another ship in the vicinity, having actually deployed in the vicinity of 2 UPP Outposts, outposts which would soon spot the deploying USCM Troops, and their position, event which would eventually lead to an assault in the 3rd day of their establishment, as the UPP prepared its troopers in the nearby valleys for an assault using the cave system.

And so, in January 29th, the spotters managed to spot something odd from their elevated position, there appeared to be an odd increase in UPP Patrols around the area, along with an odd increase in UPP Expeditions from Scout Groups, leading to the order of taking defensive positions, and using any remaining materials along with those provided with the currently unused budget to set up defenses for any situation that could come up, while more Squad Medics were awoken from their cryopods and ordered to deploy shortly after, several defenses being held around the supply drop zone as a small countermeasure for any saboteurs, several squads being assigned to the supply drop zone to avoid any sabotage, the current Executive Officer, Mueller, being ordered to deploy by themselves in order to keep morale high in the frontline and to work as field commander.

Finally in January 30th, hell would be let loose, engineers would wake up to see their communications appeared to have been sabotaged by a Kommando division, disrupting their communications for 2 hours, however what the defenders first thought was overpreparation proved to be adequate in such situations, specially the minefields and pillboxes, as a single mistake from a UPP Serzhant would soon demonstrate when a mine was tripped, the detonation quickly alerting the defenders of an incoming enemy, which was confirmed when several warcries were to be heard in russian, followed by the massive arrival of hostiles, and yet the defenders took their positions determined, manning their respective positions.

From 12:00AM to 8:00PM it appeared as if both UPP and USCM had entered a standard conflict in a contested planet rather than a patrol excersise, gunshots were constantly heard from M41 Service Rifles and M56 Machine Guns, however as the valley filled up with hostiles, the defenders would take advantage of this kinds of situation, due to the type of terrain, until they got close enough to get an angle, the attackers wouldn't be able to easily land any hits on the defenders.

Eventually at 2:37PM, the designated supply zone would soon have to fend off their own attack, as the attackers attempted to use such zone as a way of flanking the main defense line, which was started with a bombardment, soon followed by gunfire from Type 71 rifles and Gsh type miniguns, however the bombardment proved to be barely effective due to the dug in positions of the defensives, leading to an skirmish in the plateau side of the mountain, fighting which would continue for 3 hours until 5:41PM, when the attacking force was finally pushed back after suffering heavy casualties to pillboxes and barricaded positions, communications being recovered at 6:00PM, allowing for a drop of relief supplies and reinforcement soon after, the Pleateau Offensive finally being brought to a halt with the help of CAS and Mortar Assistance.

At 6:30, supplies would finally reach the frontline, allowing the now exhausted defenders to recover themselves at last with the help of both material reinforcement and biological reinforcements in the form of marines and the current Commanding Officer themselves in order to relief the one deployed, leading the last parts of the defense by themselves during this occasion, person who sadly was to die during the last minutes of the ordeal product of a Kommando Group Raid in one of the pillboxes, raid which was deterred, but inflicted some minimal casualties, in which the CO was to die from their wounds at 7:32 PM. At last at 8:00 PM, UPP Troopers would ask for a ceasefire, demoralized and no longer in condition to fight due to the heavy casualties taken.

At 10:00PM a funeral would be held for Captain Jeremiah Felth, along with those who fell bravely in battle on the defense of what in that moment would be their home, the death of Jeremiah opening a gap for Mueller's promotion to Commanding Officer.

ExperienceHow experienced are you with the position of a Squad Leader (SL)?
I don't commonly play SL as much as regular marine, medic or specialist, mainly because i already know there's players that excel in being field leaders, and mainly because i don't like being leader of a squad, but rather helping my fellow squadmates with anything they might need, via scouting, medical aid, fire support, among the other, however i do know the basics of the role and some strategies from time to time, most of which revolt around supporting other squads where possible, while also trying to tend to my squad's needs as much as i can.

How experienced are you with the position of a Staff Officer (SO)?
I have a fair share of experience in this role, mainly trying to constantly monitor the marines to make sure all their needs are tended to and to make sure they don't take casualties from flank manouvers, constantly asking for situation and status reports, in order to provide the resources they require to keep their squad going at maximum capacity and to keep their morale high, while CIC might be the head of the snake, the marines are the fangs of it and are essential to make sure it can defend itself or defeat an enemy, if the marines are undersupplied or low on morale they'll naturally perform worst, same goes for if they dislike those leading them.

How experienced are you with the position of a Department Head?
Im most experienced with the role of Chief Military Police when it comes to this, trying to make sure that punishments aren't too small nor too excessive while also trying to make the prisoner feel safe while inside the bridge. I'd put my experience in this way:

CMP - Mildly Experienced - I tend to play it when i see there are no MPs available, in order to make sure the Almayer doesn't have any shipside problems regarding hostile personnel or law breaking.

RO - Low Experience - I ain't really interested in playing RO, however i've played CT and know how it works and its duty.

CE - Low Experience - I haven't felt the need to play CE, however i do like playing MT quite a lot and have learned about Engineering this way.

CMO - Low Experience - I haven't tried for this role either as it ain't much of my interest, however i have knowledge about the roles of Nurse, Doctor and Squad Medic and how to handle them properly to ensure recovery on a patient when possible, or stabilizing them first to move them to a more safe zone before any complicated procedure can take place.

How experienced are you with the position of the Executive Officer (XO)?
    Quite Experienced

I have more hours as SO than XO, so i had my fair share of operations, my tactics tend to revolve around keeping a steady supply line for the spearhead, while also using defensive tactics of fortifying a previous position before advancing in the case a retreat is required, while in the case a CO is taking over the op and doesn't require my assistance i like going to other departments and ask if they need assistance with anything to make sure the Almayer is on full functionality.

I've served with some quite competent COs and im infact here due to this role being one of the roles i enjoy the most playing as.

How familiar are you with Marine Law and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)?
I am more familiar with ML than SOP as i tend to consult Marine Law quite a lot compared to SOP (at least 4 times an operation out of both curiosity and interest), this mainly being because SOPs have became a bit more of standard nature to me than ML, so I'd say im rather familiarized with both of them when it comes to it. Both most be followed to avoid any incidents that could prove detrimental shipside or planetside.

I've also dealt with several issues related to breaking Marine Law, which helped me further understand its workings and execution in practice.

ScenariosWhen do you believe a Battlefield Execution should be used? List some examples of scenarios in which a battlefield execution would be correctly used.
I'd approve of a Battlefield Execution when a Capital Crime is commited and the individual behind it proves to be too much of a threat to keep in permabrig, for example in the case they commit the offenses of Attempted Murder, Murder, or Sedition.

Examples in my view would be:

    - During briefing or the operation, a Marine belonging to Delta actively states their wish to mutiny via agressive and open methods while also encouraging other to join them and actively refusing to deploy despite openly being ordered too, instead continuing with their intent.

    - A marine in Squad Requisitions/Requisitions/Briefing actively states an aggroed state towards other personnel and proceeds to pull out and use a weapon against another individual with the intent of actively murdering them, as Commander i wouldn't nor shouldn't allow him to attack other personnel specially with such intent, making them subject to Execution in the future.

    - A Mainteinance Technician actively disrupts the operation by methods like disarming APCs in CIC along with in other parts of the ship that are vital for funcionality for example in the Medbay Area and Requisitions, while also actively resisting arrest and even attacking other individuals who try to stop them, if the problem grows to this point and they prove too dangerous for brigging or permabrigging i'd have no other option but to Execute them for the safety of both the operation and shipside crew.

Situations in which i wouldn't grant a Battlefield Execution:

    - A marine ends up murdering another marine or different personnel, but is succesfully subdued and cuffed by the Military Police without further issues, thus passing into their custody, making Battlefield Executions not an option once they have been succesfully detained.

    - A marine or SL says something like "That isn't going to work" or "Such tactic is surely going to fail in the long run", while also giving another different tactic that can be used for this situation, then actively says i don't understand how the situation is currently working as, its only criticizism and could even prove beneficial for both sides when applied, SLs are leaders after all and can provide good advice, if the tactic isn't a good idea, i'd just move on.

    - Any shipside personnel actively insults me for example: "CO you're an idiot". It isn't an offense that requires execution, and the MPs should handle it by themselves when possible, considering it would at most give them the charge of DASO and maybe Resiting Arrest if they aren't actively trying to mutiny or desert.

Under what circumstances do you believe it is legal to pardon a prisoner? What are some examples of crimes you would pardon, and those you would not?
I would pardon a prisoner in 2 cases:
1.- They hold a crucial role for the operation, for example they are currently the only Maintenance Technician/Cargo Technician/Doctor/Pilot at the time of the arrest.
2.- There is enough evidence acquired during the time they have been brigged to prove them as innocent.

Situations i would issue a pardon:

    - A Vehicle Crewmember is arrested for damaging windows or windoors, while the Longstreet Tank or Medical APC are available, while also showing no intent on resisting or attacking other personnel, i would pardon them as an APC/Tank without a complete crew is much harder to efficiently be handled, while also being unable to use all of its potential and tends to be more harmful than beneficial due to the lack of personnel manning either the guns or driving it, leading to either the APC not being able to defend itself or blocking marines off so the sole crewman can use the guns.

    - A lone Requisitions Officer or Cargo Technician, actively neglects their duty both not supplying Marines or other personnel in the requisition line while also not making nor delivering supply drops to FOB and Defense Lines, i'd pardon them under constant overwatch to make sure they are running requisitions until there's more personnel capable of aiding in this task.

    Situations i wouldn't issue a pardon in:

    - A Doctor actively attempts overdosing personnel onboard the Almayer knowingly of their actions, while also refusing to give medical attention to those injured by this or other incidents.

    - A Mainteinance Technician actively starts damaging Almayer integrity via breaking windows, dismantling walls or APCs, while also constantly resisting arrest.

What is your routine after starting the round as either a Staff Officer or Executive Officer? Assume you joined round-start and are inside your quarters.
As i commonly play the role of Executive Officer rather than Staff Officer i can safely say what my routine is:

Greet fellow Command and CIC Crew, while also reading the Crew Manifest to see what assets we have. If possible i see if there's a CO and if they have any plans in mind regarding the Operation. If not i make a plan myself while also asking SOs for any ideas if there are any at the moment.

After such i make an announcement of when and where Briefing will be, before getting a medhud from the tables and going to check on every department to make sure everything is running smoothly and properly, before either asking engineering to load the OB or doing it myself depending on what the CO orders me to load or what i feel would be proper when there is no CO.

Once done i head to briefing 2 minutes before it starts in order to make sure SLs are there and to avoid any communication errors, once briefing is complete, i tell the PO what the deployment time will be accordingly and remind of objectives once done via the console in CIC.

If i complete my tasks before briefing i tend to let the SOs or Marines get proper breakfast before anything, while also occasionally making sure the OTs don't blow themselves up.

How would you handle insubordinate departments? State what you would do for each department if they were insubordinate.
It all depends on the department that is insubordinate at the moment of the event.

Requisitions: I'd first make it clear how without working Requisitions the supply line would be severed and we could possibly loose the entire operation, however i would also make sure to keep a strict and demanding tone with them until they do their job, giving them the option to do their duties peacefully, however i would order their arrest if they refuse to do this.

Medical: Medical is another essential department, as they make sure Marines are ready for both deployment and combat, without them, the marines pretty much either die or get crippled for the rest of the op. I would take more severe action with this department, ordering them to go back to their duties while also warning them about further actions should they not comply. If possible i'd try to get a Synth to fill in the gaps while this happens too.

Military Police: While the MPs can't actively be insubordinated thanks to the rules they must follow, i would ahelp the issue. I do however know they can fax a complaint about me to High Command or the Provost Marshal, something which i can't deny them to do. If possible i'd try to get replacements for the department in the meantime to make sure the Almayer stays safe.

CIC Department: Considering CIC would be my own Officers and as such essential to the cordination of the operation, i would take disciplinary action inmediatly to ensure they return to their duties.

How would you handle an understaffed CIC? What if you and the XO are the only available CIC crew?
This happens quite often to me as XO, and as such i've learned how to deal with it at this point, via trying to fill in the positions of SOs with the Military Warden and Chief Engineers should they be available for this.

In the situation i was the CO, i'd stay in CIC with them until we get more CIC personnel in order to ensure proper functioning of the CIC. After all, if well coordinated and willing to cooperate properly, and XO and CO by themselves can do quite great things by themselves.

What would you do if you were deployed and a marine told you they were going to desert the operation?
First i'd see why they're looking to desert, as i know some situations can demoralize marines to the point of wanting to desert the entire operation itself.

If possible i'd try to encourage them to continue with the operation, if not i'd order them directly to go back to their respective position, if they disobey this order i'd have to take action by myself or let the MPs handle it accordingly as it would be Treason and as such a Capital Crime.

I recognize your name somewhat. has no specific comment on command capability yet. I Will give you a better judgment later
the answers are significantly better in length compared to some other application, I would also say you can use the BE a lot more. Don't worry half the time you won't actually even use it anyway.
Keep playing Xo, So, SL, CMP and you'll get it eventually. it's about being known and being trusted. If people don't know you and don't trust you. You're not gonna get it, Good luck!

Nothing much to be said here. Great guy both IC and OOC. Good XO and a good SL as well. We had many fun rounds together and in all of them he handled command well.

The pardon answer could use some help but i know you enough to be confident in voting +1

Aiden's an XO main, they know what they're doing. Just make sure to play some MP roles so you make sure to have a good understanding of marine law.

Thanks for the feedback Fortelian, i'll take it deeply into consideration. I'll play MP more often too (commonly i do it when MPs are understaffed and when Cassandra isn't CMP or is XO), regardless thanks for the tip.

I have had ya as XO, and you have been competent. Listen to what Fort and Kira said, get some MP and SL under your belt in the coming days and you should be right as rain. Still gonna start ya off with another +1 for good measure though.

Even if you don't give me a +1 i deeply appreciate the feedback, after all more MP/SL hours can always come in handy. I'll try to gain your trust, thanks for the tip.

You are great in CIC as those roles.

I get it playing MP sucks ass no one wants to do it. I won't hold that against you. You have more than enough experience and a good attitude thats nots overly meme, I think you would be a good addition to the CO team, and a great addition eventually.
