    Its funny they understand that a MP can abuse ML to grief players and make issues out of meaningless and benign things (which end up causing so much more problems than needs be, staff reports, player reports, tilted players going ape, dchat sperg outs, mass mutiny, forceful staff intervention)

    But cant seem to percieve why a player would take issue to this sort of rule lawyering.

    Maybe uhh instead of saying "well its not against ML so i see no issue" be more like "hey yea sure you can arrest them but tbh its kinda a dick move and id rather you not be an asshole to someone for no reason other than to be an ass"

    idk man people should be allowed to do whatever they want until its an issue of doing it just for the sake of fucking up that one player round or until it stop the intended progression of the round (IE people destroying certain shit that cant be repaired)

    Rule 3. Community Expectations
    The general behavioural expectations for members of the community. Unless explicitly stated these rules apply to all areas of the community.

    Don't be a dick.

    Enforce this rule for mp players and it'll solve a small part of the problem.

    Also before someone comes in and says "Enforcing ML by the book to the absolute extreme, and at the expense of the round even for minor transgressions and being an unrepentant asshole/hardass isn't being a dick"

    Yes it is. You're going out of your way to make a situation worse for the sake of your own enjoyment. It wasn't okay when people like BasedOperator did it and it's not okay when the rest of you do it.
    Now there are obviously exceptions. Major crimes and such can't and shouldn't be ignored, because you're more or less breaking server rules at that point.

    Now I could go on about what I observe you all do, because observing is ALL I do anymore. From things like standing next to a marine and wordlessly watching them disassemble briefing and not saying anything until they are done, to literal acts of entrapment like walking into the DS without reason with a taser and flash grenade in your hands, because you want someone to bump you, but that's for another time.

    My main point is Rule 3 is a thing and MP players shouldn't be exempt from it.

    isn't it also worth mentioning that the point of MP is to be a security force that keeps the marine in check in real life? which is vastly different from the private security force hired in other servers which makes them a lot different contextually on why they're even there in the first place.
    essentially we don't need MP because the purpose they serve in-game and in real life is not needed for what we do in CM.

    MPs are meant to be the long hand of command and ensure the knuckleheads are up to standards.

    Dilemma

    What does it mean 'are up to standards'? Does it mean to arrest marines skipping briefing and arrest marines not wearing helmets to ensure marines are following the most basic orders? Does it mean arresting some marine for being a glibbering moron talking about big chungus leet amongus(keeping up RP standards ICly this is done in ss13Escal where you can BE memelords as anyone).

    The problem of MPs is they serve no real purpose currently. It is practically impossible to force the PFCs to do anything since rules state you cant force helmets so SOs can watch them, you can't force marines to attend briefing and not sit mute on the DS, you can't do this can't do that. They restricted the griefing and 'griefing' COs who used to bust the PFCs balls for everything but without that power... What do MPs even do? Like literally all they can do now is get griefed by some admemes when they are tired of finding creative ways to abomb CIC.

    MPs are a relic of a bygone era.

    Honestly the best thing to do for MPs would be to add the potential for shipside antagonists. Give MPs something productive to do instead getting their shoes stolen when they stupidly incite a riot along the marines and sitting on their fat asses like glorified mall cops until either the round ends or the drop ships get hijacked. Maybe various threats could spawn on the Almayer for the MPs to deal with like an occasional larva spawning that they have to track down and kill before it evolves into a bigger problem or a small UPP/CLF 1-2 man infiltration team boarding the ship that they have to deal with.

    You mean agents? We had them but they were removed. There were issues both RP wise, and they way they worked mechanic wise. Like they weren't meant to C4 CIC and other key parts of the ship, and how non agent roles weren't meant to help agents with their objs.

    More amusingly on TGMC, I rarely if ever see people smash windows and doors and generally break shit on ship, while in comparison with CM, I see it happen more often. Well, saw it more often. Pasttense.
