    Calvin

What is your Synths quirk and personality?
Calvin is a repurposed journalist synth refitted for the USCM. He shows great enthusiasm in his voice. He would take pictures of objects of interest, comment on the weather where appropriate, and take notes of things for future reading. He would Narrate the situation as it happened like a live reporter. Think of a military reporter who’s part of a squad sending back live feed to the TV in america during the vietnam war.

Why do you want to be a synthetic/why should we whitelist you?
because I really enjoy playing support roles and I have played a lot of SEA lately. I dedicate my free time to playing CM and I believe I'm ready to become a synth after I have discussed thoroughly about my application with whitelisted synthetic and some council members.

    Synthetic Character Story
2179. “GOOD MORNING AMERICA! Calvin, Reporting for duty!” The synth chimes as they are activated.
He then starts looking around, spotting a human in front of him.
“Ah hello, Calvin. Good to see that you’re awake! Come with me to the helicopter, we’re going now.” - said the Journalist in front of him.
“After you, sir.” Calvin followed the journalist to the helicopter.
The pilot onboard begins to take off as they both board it. The synth looks around with a cheerful smile on his face.
“So, who’s this?” - the pilot asked.
“Ah, it’s a synth. He’s supposedly a lot more durable than the last one, so I figured we’d bring it with us.” - the journalist responded.
“I have a name, sir. It’s Calvin.” - Calvin interrupted the conversation. The pilot lets out a chuckle.
“Ah, that so? Neat. Try not to end up in the junkyard, you got that?”
“I assure you, sir, I’m more than just storm-resistant, I can protect myself and take hits. most journalists cannot.” - Calvin replied.
The synth is interrupted by the worried pilot.
“Sir? You might wanna take a look at this. Looks like the building is falling apart. I see fire blazing from it too.”
Calvin looks outside and takes some pictures of the damaged building.
“You better hurry and find us a good landing zone then, pilot. We need to get footage.”
The helicopter lands, allowing injured civilians to be brought up while Calvin tends to them. The journalist hops off and starts recording the events.
“Calvin! There are more people here and I see one stuck under the rubble, need you to get the jaws of life to pry this door open.”
The synth hops off and follows the journalist after dressing the wounds of the injured civilians on the helicopter. It proceeds to take off to the nearest medical evacuation center. “H-Help me!” - a voice cried out. “Look! There he is!”
The journalist shined his flashlight at a man whose legs appeared to be damaged beyond function.
“No worries sir, I’ll treat him” - said Calvin as he began to approach the man carefully, trying to not trip on anything.
while treating the man, Calvin took a quick photo for documentation
The journalist continued to shine his flashlight around, seeing more people in various conditions.
“Sir? What do we do about the civilians? They’re likely unable to leave without help from technicians.”
“Get the one that needs immediate attention first, we can afford to take a few of them onto the helicopter with us.”
Calvin nodded and began to lift one of the incapacitated civilians onto his shoulder before running off to the helicopter, which had already returned. The synth went back with as many people as the helicopter capacity will allow them to before heading off to a nearby hospital. Suddenly, the ground shook as a sinkhole began to form in the middle of the building. Calvin realized that he couldn’t save everyone and began to reach for the closest person he could and tossed them outside. Minutes went by before the hole had finally formed and several people had fallen into it, never to be seen again. The News Helicopter returned to pick up the journalist and Calvin. Calvin took a photo of the sinkhole and hopped back onto the helicopter as it flew off back to the news station.
    2180. Nothing of note.
2181, 11:28. Calvin was sitting on a chair, flipping a coin while waiting for his next assignment, until he felt a pat on his shoulder. As he turned around, he said “Ah! Hello, lovely day today isn’t it, sir?” He flashed a smile to the maintenance technician and greeted them, pausing his plays for a moment, laying the coin down on the table before standing upright and facing the maintenance technician. “Ah sorry, I didn’t realize you were a synth. I thought you were ship-side staff for a moment there”, - said the technician. “All is good, sir.” - the synth responded. They paused for a moment as Calvin was suddenly called on the radio. “Hey, Calvin! We’re dropping soon, we’ll need you on the dropship.” - said the pilot officer. “Ah sorry, sir, I would like to stay and chat, but it appears I must go now”. The synth told the technician before running off toward the hangar, getting onboard the dropship just as it was about to take off.
Unable to find a seat, the synth crouches down next to the cockpit, waiting for the dropship to land. Calvin chats with the marines here and there until the dropship finally lands and marines shout battle cries as they rush out of the dropship to secure the immediate landing zone. “Ah, the weather looks nice today, don’t you think? It’s gonna be a bit humid and damp, so they should keep their equipment clean.” - the synth comments to the pilot. “HEY! COME ON!”, - a marine shouts at Calvin when he was talking with the dropship pilot officer, - “Oh sorry sir, looks like I gotta catch the train now.”
Calvin followed the alpha marine towards the engineering SMEs storage and wandered around it, staying close to the alpha marine to make sure he’s safe. “What do you think caused this, Cal?” asked the marine. The synth, turning to the alpha marine, said “It could have been an electrical storm. I heard those are common in the frontier. Perhaps a solar flare or maybe-” Calvin is cut off by gunfire on an unseen target running in the dark as the alpha marine panics. “Or we could have a saboteur, sir.”, - concludes Calvin. As he tosses a flashlight into the darkness, more rustling from the woods can be heard. Calvin sees the generator badly damaged, taking a quick picture of it before dashing to fix it. Calvin went and started to repair the generator while the marine stayed on guard. “That should do it, we must leave now.” They nodded and both ran back towards the landing zone that came to more closely resemble a fort. As they’re heading toward the FOB, the Alpha marine gets shot at by the hostile colonist hiding in the bushes. The marine was quickly swept out of harm's way by Calvin. The wounded alpha marine was then dragged away by abravo marine. After flanking the shooter, Calvin jumped the saboteur and knocked them out with a single punch to the jaw. He then dragged the unconscious colonist with him toward the landing zone. “I believe this is the rat who’s been running around and giving us trouble.” Two bravo marines come by to take the hostile colonist into custody; he takes a picture of them and takes out his small handbook to write down the eve. They are escorted to the dropship and, presumably, will be subject to interrogation. “Calm before the storm, sir?” Calvin asked the bravo squad leader.
“So”, - the bravo squad leader turns to look at Calvin. He’s rather bewildered by Calvin’s appearance - “What’s the deal with you? You look like a person, yet you hit that guy so hard you nearly knocked his head off. ” “It’s called an artificial organism, sir. I’m simply a synthetic human here to serve you and the USCM’s Interests.” The squad leader nodded at Calvin. “I see. I’ve heard about synthetics. Though, I’ve never seen one in person before. Good to know you’re on our side.” Calvin smiled “I’ll always be on your side, sir, regardless of the circumstances.” He turns around and walks off. “Wait”, - the squad leader stopped him. “Yes, sir?” “Tell me more about yourself. What can you do?” Calvin nodded and adjusted his shirt collar “I have been designed to assist in all support departments excluding operating weaponry. I’m specialized in information gathering and field reporting.” “Is that all? Thought you would have some neat tricks to show off.” “No sir.” “Well, if you got anything fun to do, let me know, it’s getting boring down here.” Calvin took out his logbook and began to write down his adventure today. “Yes sir, boredom can be irritating during an operation. I should head toward the frontline now to see how the marines are doing.” The squad leader nodded and waved goodbye as the synth rushed toward the battlefield. Gunshots and explosions could be heard in the distance. While on the front, Calvin was caught in a blast of a nearby grenade and was damaged enough to cease functionality. He was then dragged back to the landing zone but suffered severe damage and needed to be sent back for repair. He was later reactivated in 2182 for the USS Almayer after being repaired and fitted with a more durable CPU.

ExperienceHow familiar are you with Engineering?
I know how to load the OB, do OT stuff to a certain extent, repair broken-down APCs. I can build most of the things and do hacking. I can build the fob and know good barricade spots. engineering is my weakest part here as I don't play it as much but I do play squad engineers. most of my hours are on squad medics, however.

How familiar are you with Command?
With ~100 command hours on CM and over 500 hours command hours on another server, I’m pretty confident in myself regarding command experience. I know how to use CIC equipment and have often found myself operating it alone. I know about marine laws and have been deputized to act as military police when I play SO. also with several hours as SEA and having to fill in a variety of department roles. I feel fairly confident I can handle the marines' law and SOP side of the game.

How familiar are you with Medical?
I am very familiar with playing medical roles and have decent experience as CMO. I can do surgery and chemistry and know what chemicals serve what purpose. I can do surgery with just the tools from the morgue with some ghetto surgery tools to compensate. Generally I’m better with medical than every other department as it’s the first department I learned in CM

How familiar are you with Requisitions?
With a decent amount of hours as RO and CT, I can confidently operate requisitions and ensure a constant stream of supplies, combined with my experience in engineering and the map layout. I can give a large number of metals from just scavenging alone if given enough time to do it.

What are some scenarios that you can perform combat in? Give us a brief example.
I can defend myself from harm by using violence when I’m being attacked but I must prioritize saving lives instead of fighting. If I see a USCM personnel be it a marine or contract bound civilian being attacked and dragged away I will pursue the threat to incapacitate or force them to flee and then carry(as synth can do fireman carry) the body to a more secure area to treat them. The exception is on delta alert where I can make an extended chase. However, I still have to do my primary job as a synth, which is saving USCM personnel and other necessities. Therefore, I should only perform combat duty when I or someone else is being attacked within my view. I am to only fight to deter further combat from the hostile force, not to engage the enemy.

ConfirmationsAre you familiar with the Synthetic Programming and Guidelines?
    Yes

Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or the Synthetic Programming Guideline?
    Yes

Do you understand that you cannot advertise your application on any platform for votes. Do you also understand you may not edit this application 1 hour after it has been posted?
    Yes

Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason? Do you have any active jobbans?
    No

Are you currently banned from our Discord, and if so, why?
    No

Other InformationDo you have anything else you would like to include about your application?
I don't play alot of engineering instead i play alot of medical role. I play on THA ( bangkok time) typically around 9:30 to 23:50. I'm very poor with the game combat and would try to keep marines alive instead of fighting xeno on my own

Kira's roleplay has improved leaps and bounds over the past year, and the story, while horribly formated (thanks, forums) seems competent enough. I've seen 'em play a bunch of different roles, all of them competently enough that nothing would speak against synthing.

    +1 from observer staff gang

Synth, out of all 3 WL'd roles is the one that demands the most attention to detail when it comes to typing skills. Player in question displays very poor knowledge when it comes to the english language and I believe that this will severely hamper their ability to RP as a synth. By very poor knowledge, I do not mean it when they interact with OOC means (discord/OOC) but rather, how poor their english is when playing roles (this shows A LOT when they're playing SEA).

Having played in rounds where Akira has filled in for critical role positions, I know they're a verily practiced and well experienced player regarding their capabilities in CM's many departments. You're a long-time user and I can see that you are determined to meet the demands of the role. I adore your Synthetic's quirk and based on both the story-elements and your conducts/attitudes as a player, more than believe you will take initiative in supporting the Marines, given the opportunity.

    +1!
