[Ultimate Queen Guide] Rip && Tear (Image Heavy)

“It is not the strongest or the most intelligent who will survive but those who can best manage change.” ― Leon C. Megginson

Welcome to your first current [post moba] Queen guide; where I will pound information into you. This guide will be for the most optimal way to get from ground side to Alamyer if you are a beginning Queen player. Later on in the guide I will go into detail on more in-depth and advance tactics for Queen and other things to do if you are struggling through various sitations and give you a few and how to fix them. But for now let us start with the basics.

The Interface (Off Ovipositioner) From left to right

    • Rest
    • Regurgitate
    • Overwatch Xenomorph / Watch Xenomorph
    • Order Construction
    • Grow Ovipositioner
    • Corrosive Acid (Queen has level 2)
    • Emit / Change pheromones
    • Psychic Whisper
    • Psychic Radiance
    • Gib
    • Plant Weed Node
    • Choose Structure
    • Build Structure
    • Banish from hive
    • Readmit to hive
    • Screech (50s CD)
    • Spit
    • Toggle Spit (Acid or Neuro)

The Interface (On Ovipositioner) From left to right

    • Regurgitate
    • Overwatch Xenomorph / Watch Xenomorph
    • Order Construction
    • Psychic Whisper
    • Psychic Radiance
    • Banish from hive
    • Readmit to hive
    • Screech (50s CD)
    • Disattach from ovipositioner
    • Leader Xenomorph
    • Heal
    • Plasma
    • Give Order
    • Choose structure
    • Plant weed node
    • Build structure
    • Devolve Xenomorph
    • Toggle Queen Eye

Psychic radiance is AOE psychic whisper. Only really useful for talking to a group of non-xeno speakers at one time.

    Setting up your first hive!

Once you find a hive spot you want to drop a weed node under yourself so you don't run out of plasma.

After that you want to turn on the recovery pheromones so that you have big plasma regen and from the construct hive structure button make a hive core, and spread your hives first hive weeds. You're going to go onto help intent and then click the hive core to add plasma to it.

This is what you and the area should look like once you're done.

This is what the chat will say once you have properly put down the core. It lets you know you've done it correctly and tells the others where the starting position of the hive will be.

Next thing you want to do is repeat the hive core step but with the spawn pool instead. The spawn pool lets you get your pooled larva from the ether and allows other players to join as xeno. If you see a lot of pooled larva; you most likely do not have a pool and will need to construct one immediately.

Next step is evo pods, it makes the xenos evolve faster and you can build two evo pods for the hive. Make sure you have both and they are filled to completion.

Congrats, you have now successfully set up your first hive. Now let's go onto the next step.

Hive is done, children are screeching, now what?

You're going to click first the alien tab.

Now in the alien tab there is a bunch of words, ignore all of them and then search for the four that are in this image. You will want to permit special structures deconstruction to all builder castes. This was updated so that building special structures is on by default, with slashing, and unnesting. So you just need to let them destroy stuff so they can move clusters when the front line moves.

    Everything is permitted, now what?

Grow your ovipositioner and start making eggs. Or if you started in a location that is heavy with pre-bursted bodies. (Bodies that your starting larva sprung from) Then you're going to make an egg morpher nest and fill the egg morpher with the prebursted body. Next from ovi you will want to plant eggs if your egg morpher isn't up yet. You can plant eggs around you freely as long as it is right next to you. So North, south, east, west, nw, ne, sw, se.

    Example:

    Quick tips about building.

Keep in mind that when you build the area around hive structures cannot be built around. There is a 1x1 area fully around the structure when fully built that you cannot build stuff at. So you want to put things close together as possible and within reason when making your hive.

    Ovipositioner Building

When you are on ovi, you have access to queen eye. (It is the small box on that is SE of me.) This is the last one on the Queen ovi interface section. Queen eye is your strongest tool while on ovi and it will be the best way for you to win rounds when you never want to get up, or know that your hive is independent enough to crush the marines without your input.

This is what the building looks like when you are off ovi.

This is what it looks like when you are on ovi. As you can see when you're on ovi you can build thick walls and doors. This is very important for your hive set up. There is no point in having drones build thin walls in your hive when you can build thick. For the first 30 minutes of the round, you can build with no cooldown which means that your drones should not be in the hive building they should just be weeding. (Will go further into this later.)

    Random Tips

This is an example of a queen room. You have eggs around you just in case scout tries anything or flankers. They are either going to run into the eggs, throw a nade, or try to C4 the surrounding walls to get to you. In all those situations since you set up your queen chamber, you will be aware of it happening and hear it. But if you are doing your job right, you will see a flank coming via queen eye or broken doors from the scout to alert your runners to the potential threat.

Also 3 deep resin walls like that stop HE OB which can overlap the core and hit everything. Your caps might die, but you won't, and that's the important part. As long as the queen is alive and mature you can always replace the caps.

Next to the egg morpher if your burrower is good; they will place the tunnel there. It's so that when xenos come in via the tunnel with a captured host they are instantly hugged and don't have to go far, depending on how long the marine has been in their stomach; the short treck from the tunnel may be the difference between the hive being blown up by soemone with a nade, or a peaceful instant hug. Never put the egg morpher in the nest room for that reason. Also never let the burrower put the tunnel in the nest room for that exact reason as well.

"Don’t handicap your children by making their lives easy." ― Robert A. Heinlein

The strength of the hive is the ability to stay organized and coordinated. Hives that fall into chaos, not translate information quickly and correctly, or just overall weak are hives that do not last long. As Queen it is your duty to maintain control, translate information, assign xenos to locations based on their abilities/caste/and overall what is needed. Failure to be able to do this will find you short lived on the caste. As Queen you are all of CIC, every spec, and medical all wrapped into one position. Your xenos are required to listen to you, do not be afraid to ask for help via ahelps, or from your daughters if someone is being unruly/obnoxious/refusing to listen. Do not be a push over, it results in the same xenos doing the same shit to other Queens. Being tolerant of disobedience hurts all the xenos through all rounds in the long run.
    More About Building Continued

This is everything you have learned in action together. Slap some stickies to slow down marines, eggs, an even the acid pillar. Normally I would have my pool north or close to my queen room and fully enclosed as you see. That's so during a hive siege larvas can pop out without being instantly shot by marines if they are that close. The hive core also enclosed because its what gives the hive it's OB protection. Hive core provides a thick resin roof that OB cannot directly launch at. However remember from what I said earlier that HE OB can hit and overlap the hive core, which is why there's 3 thick resin walls there to protect both you and the core.

Going to bring you back to this image one more time to let you know that the acid pillar would not normally be in the hive, you should be making sure you place your acid pillar at the front line so that your xenos can extinguish themselves from the fire quickly without having to rely on others to pat them out. However, when used defensively acid pillar makes marines yell when it targets and floods them with acid, which also alerts you to danger.

This is your order construction menu that I will quickly go through
Hive core: Provides protection against OB. Incendiary and cluster cannot hit hive core protection range. HE OB can overlap the hive core.

Hive Cluster: Does nothing but makes hive weeds. Hive weeds provide a huge slow down for marines pushing over them.

Spawn Pool: Lets xenos join the game if you have pooled larva. Also you can pool marines after they burst, giving you one extra larva. Never egg morph a bursted marine, always pool it. Can only be placed on hive weeds.

Egg morpher: You put a prebursted body in it. Pre-bursts are the bodies that round start xenos burst out of that cannot be pooled. Needs to be placed on hive weeds. Can be placed at the front line for cheeky captures, but can be plinked into non-existence from range.

Evolution Pod: Makes xenos evolve faster. Should be placed in the hive. Can only be placed on hive weeds.

Recovery Node: Heals xenos quickly. Needs to be placed on hive weeds. Can be on the front line or in the hive.

“The more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war.” – General Norman Schwarzkopf

    Ovi Tactics time yes
For the first thirty (30) minutes of the round, you have access to no cooldown & no cost building upon your ovi positioner. This means for the first 30 minutes you should be building, there is zero (0) reason or excuse to not be building.

The first thing you need to build is your hive. Send your drones to (weed) because drones build thin resin walls which are considerably weaker than your thick resin walls. Close up your hive, make yourself a queen room just encase a cheeky scout or flank manages to surprise you.

Then you will need to build from the hive towards the front. Do the area quickly, slap some 2x2s or a hell maze up, whatever you prefer and then continue working.

Make sure you order your drones and hivelord to work from the frontline towards the hive that way you complete the entire area together rather than everyone just sitting in the hive building nests and getting nothing done.

Remember no defenses mean your frontline will collapse fast as hell.

When marines push a 2x2 or even better a 1x1 you can drop a thick resin wall behind their retreat and trap them inside with your xenos for easy captures.

Also with queen eye you can traverse the weeds quickly and check for flanks both incoming and potential ones you can do. Its a very powerful tool, use it.

I will beat this into your head:
    - If you are not building for the first 30 minutes you are a bad queen and need to improve quickly.
    - Building on ovi is your most powerful ability + queen eye.
    - Do it.

    Tech Tree & You
Tech tree is gone. Sad sad. If it ever comes back, you're gonna do some deep lovin to fortified weeds and shielding slash.

    Metalist
Now I will forget some people, but this is a list of reliable xenos that you can trust to have your back when you get off ovi; as long as they trust you to not just run in and die. When they are about feel free to do your thing, you can rely on them to actually follow up on your screeches and not leave you alone in the dust. I will even list the caste they derp around on. As you continue on your queenly adventures you will learn naturally who you can trust and who you cannot. Remember to always at least attempt to rally your hive, but if you are competent; these individuals will come to you for the murder ball or yell at you to come.

    Meta Target List
Shut up marine mains ― it's not what you think.

What I kill in order if I can & Why

    Sadar
This is the biggest threat to your reign of terror. The damage will not kill you 90% of the time unless you are low. Sadar if it hits will stun you for a nasty amount of time. Take this marine as quickly as you can. If you kill them and the marines are close to the hive and you aren't sure if you can hold, gib him just to perma remove him from the round and ensure your safety from stuns.

    GL - Pyro
They share a spot in the list simply because it's whoever you can grab first. GL spec is higher because this spec hard stops everything your hive can do with a click of a button, same way that sadar can stop you. Removing him and your T3s, T2s, and T1s will now rest easier. Pyro is lower but still just as urgent because a good blue flame will stop xenos besides your rav from following your pushes. Kill these two and your hive will have free reign during the conflict.

    Smart Gunners
Hurr durr me no aim, me shoot into darkness and do ungodly damage when all four of us are standing next to each other. Hurr durrrrr, kill them so there isn't just constant DPS being sprayed down a hallway. Your T1s will thank you.

    Double Shotgunners / Jugglers
Biggest threat to your T1, T2 population and yourself. These clowns do an ungodly amount of damage if they are allowed to chain their potentially three to four shotgun dps unchecked. Kill them, capture them, or wall them. The entire hive will thank you for their eradication.

    Medics
Stop their ability to unlimited revive.

    Random Marines
Eh just cap these dudes. More larva.

    Sniper
Who? Actually who? Non-factor 80% of the time, and will generally be at the very far back line just plinking at xenos. Inc ammo is annoying and so is markshot, but the likelihood of you as queen getting one that is positioning correctly is slim. Best to send your runners/lurkers after him for the pick. Otherwise just step behind a wall when you're marked and smile. Rinse repeat, mow down the marines, and get this dude close to last.

    Scout
Who? Actually who? Hehe, this dude is usually already dead in a corner somewhere because of your disruptors. Or he's trying to cheese with instant uncloak, PB/Flame, recloak. Annoying but killable. Most scouts over extend and die before you even know and you'll see scout dead called out in hivemind. Great. Wall him in if you wish, and forget he exists. If it's a hive diver, just send runners at him and you'll be good.

Cheese & things to watch out for

    • Honor is for bitches and the hive is not bitches we are all Queens hunny, meaning gank preds as soon as they lay a singular finger on another xeno that hasn't engaged them first. If someone wants to duel let them, however. Sister in a pred trap? Gank the pred, don't just spectate.
    • If you manage to capture a predalien, the entire hive is now dishonorable. Meaning they can be stunned, beaten when down/already injured, and multiple preds can gank you. To combat this, gank them first.
    • Marines randomly OBing spots on LV if they encounter no xeno fortifications/weeds is an exploit, ahelp it. (Through the fog)
    • Marines will hide claymores under objects.
    • They will also hide custom C4 under posters and the like.
    • Never trust synths, they will always screw you over. Kill them and keep going unless they are actually rping.
    • North facing sadar isn't anywhere as awful as it used to be, but keep an eye out for it.
    • Always remind warden praes that they can use their reju from ranged instead of having to touch you, and tell them to reju you if you want to eat sadar to waste rockets.

    Misc Tips
    • Banishing is useful for getting a xeno that's not listening to you - attention. They cannot use doors, they are super slow on weeds, cannot heal, will be attacked by acid pillars, and the loud noise wakes them up.
    • Same hand do not banish xenos that are outright being disrespectful/obnoxious. AHELP them. People like that come back 5 minutes later and continue on with their nonsense in the chat. Ahelping will get them noted and if they cause trouble for you or other queens in the future action can be taken against them. Help our the xeno pop, clean up the mess.
    • Do not be afraid to ghost if you are too laggy. Just ahelp and tell staff you gotta go.

    Exploits

Going to put this here so you know not to do it, and to stop your hive from doing it so staff doesn't give marines 2 PMC platoons, marsoc, and 2 sadars as "compensation."
Remember as Queen you are responsible for their bad behavior too, even if you don't notice it immediately.

    • Do not let anyone in hive build any more than 4-6 walls deep. It will be deleted by staff if you wall clog.
    • Do not have your T3s in, around, looking at, breathing on the LZ before second drop. You will be bwoinked. (For the sake of the round, don't rush the LZ, 15 minute stomps are boring.)
    • Do not hive right next to the LZ, depending on the staff member its a good way to get slapped.
    • Do not melt the LZ before or during marine 1st drop. (That means Tcomms/North Caves on BR, hydro on LV, etc)
    • Do not have/allow a runner/hivelord to push the comms crate out of the fob at first drop.
    • Do not queen beacon your hive into fire, in front of GL, sadar, pyro as well.
    • Do not do LRP shit like congaing, talking about mine sweeper, politics, balance changes in an un-IC manner.
    • Do not flame Queen Mother.
    • Do not make zoos or tell xenos not to hug marines, monkeys, etc. (At round end no one cares)
    • Burrowers making two wall junctions and then putting an acid trap is an exploit.
    • Burrowers acid trapping under weed nodes...also an exploit.
    • Burrowers tunneling outside of the map, exploit.
    • Moral of the story, burrowers are exploiters. (kekw)

Pretty sure bypassing the building limits (by placing the node of a structure, building stuff, then filling it up with plasma) is considered unintended and an exploit and you might get bwoinked for it.
