You would be shocked how many young Agents with so much potential, and even brains, do
NOT know where to hide in a high-risk or high-threat situation.
The more pattern and uniformity disruption a tile has, the easier it is to hide on it.
Let's get some examples.
In this picture of the inside of a typical starship, where should you hide?
Don't have an idea yet? I can spot at least 2-3 off the top of my head with the ones in blue. The ones in red will require you to lay down to be more effective of a hiding spot.

Let's do this one of a pristine medbay. Pretty difficult to hide on a spotless medbay, right? ... as a veteran, I can still list off at least 2 types of locations you could hide in this medbay.
For those of you who haven't seen or figured out a spot yet, I'll help you out. See the Pvt/PFC napping on the bed? He is
sleeping. If he was cloaked, you probably couldn't even tell he was there unless you were looking for him deliberately. When looking for cloaked individuals, people are usually looking for the shimmer of a STANDING individual. The next one is the IV-drips around the medbay. See how it would disrupt the vertical profile of a person who would be in cloak?

Alright, let's get on to more advanced tactics of hiding, especially against xenomorphs.
Now I don't know if you all know, but xenomorphs have a ... let's just say 'knack' of 'seeing' things through walls.
Take this pictures as an example
Ghost training 2-2.jpg
See how there are plenty of places to hide? A whole freakin' BLOCK of it ... but if you are up against xenomorphs, this WHOLE THING is negated by the fact that there is a WALL nearby ... which means these xenomorph can EASILY pick you out for the killin' or the cappin'. I care little which they choose, because you'll be dead.
Now, how many of you know the ghost's motto? Easy, right?
"The first weapon a ghost has is their mind, everything else is supplemental."
Well, time to use your brain on this last one.
Combine your knowledge of both tile-disruption, and xenomorph "wall-sight" to figure this one out.
I'm not gonna give you the answer until you've made up your mind.
Pretend that the west wall extends all the way down and on the other side is 500 feet of bedrock, so no xenomorphs can view behind there.
Put on your thinking caps ghosts, this one stumps a lot of you Young Agents.

... Do you have answers? Good. I want all of you to stand up now.
... anyone who hid on the chairs, or the refrigerators, activate your cloaks now.
... anyone who hid on the hivelord ... good try, but there was a wall within range to the north, activate your cloaks now.
... anyone who hid IN the refrigerators, kneel. You're not out YET, but you bring up my next point.
... I see ONE person standing in front of me, and 4 of you kneeling ... of the, 20 of you that are here? If my thermals are reading you all correctly?
I want all of you that are cloaked to stand to the sides of the room.
Now, before I let this man talk ... what's your name son?
"I'm Agent X41833N, sir."
... holy shit, I thought I would get you to say your real name, a true ghost eh? Well then.
BEFORE I let this man talk, I would like the contingency group from last class to de-cloak and try to pin all these people who are visible.
*fighting ensues*
... see how fast those of you kneeling on the ground were subdued? Hiding in a locker is great, but if you get found out, you're screwed.
... X41833N, what was your answer to the test? Here's the pens, write on the board.
"Well, clearly you can't hide as well on open tiles, or the chairs, and the lockers are a death sentence if you're found out, not to mention if you don't close all of them, it looks extremely suspicious."
*writes on the board*

"The people who hid on the hivelord had the right idea, but they forgot about the walls. the windows to the south make it so that xenomorphs can't exactly use the benefit of 'wall seeing', so we don't have to worry too much about that. What needs to happen is you need to *MOVE* the hivelord to ANY AREA i've marked in blue. ANY AREA north or east of the red lines and along the arrows that someone is in ... is as good as spotted."
... Well shit son, you're the only one who's passed the test in ... 3 years ... congrats.
"Thank you, sir"
As you can see here, Agent X41833N is absolutely, 100% correct. Remember, you can *change* your environment to suit you.
