    I actually kind of agree with this, mainly because for actual emergent medical treatment IV is a lot better than giving it orally. The way it could work is that Medic belts could be filled with 240u medicine reserviors, and Medics could have a smart-syringe that can be predialled to a dose and instantly withdraw from reserviors in your belt + instant injection of the entire dose into patients.

    If this is implemented then pill bottles could lose their silly ID lock (another win for a small taste of realism!) and have a longer delay between popping the pill and chems in your blood (which I believe it already does to a small degree). If we want to go further you could even add a gut organ in the groin that if damaged hampers oral absorption.

    Making it even LONGER for healing to work makes shit worse. We already take a decent delay to heal to full, making it longer just makes the medical hell even longer.

    Minimedic is completely fine, its not going to save you from brain damage, IB, etc. by its default kit, and the rig needs cooperation to get and it only temporarily stops side effects. You can't defib, your slow to scan others and yourself, and you have WAY less medicine than a medic does. Popping pills to heal yourself also doesn't save you from a host of other xenos, namely:

    - Tackle
    - Neuro
    - Charge
    - Boiler bomb
    - Screech

    Any serious xeno offensive will absolutely dunk on you with the stuns and damage they can do to you that you can't hope to out heal.

    This. People are making a mountain over this but if you manage to make your way out of a bad situation chances are the xenos would not have killed you. If you have IB, broken bones, organ damage, missing limbs you're just as fucked with or without the mini medic kit. If xenos manage to kill you or get into a position where you will be killed (Crusher just blew you away and is ready to stomp you) then preemptively popping pills wouldn't exactly save you from this situation. The only thing mini medics allow a marine to do is open a pill bottle and dispense meds to marines including yourself. Making meds work slower would only bring hell to medics and doctors because their entire role relies on chems actually working in an efficient manner. Medical hell is one wild ride a lot of people would prefer to avoid and many more will be dissuaded from playing.

    You are wrong, ive had fights where I literally beat on the guy for 2 minutes before he finally goes down because he is healing faster than RNG is letting me do damage. It wont heal passed normal damage but when RNG is fucking you over it will heal faster than you can do damage. Especially now without mutators it is super easy to keep yourself in a fight alot longer with meds running through your system. Either way its powergaming as fuck to take pills before a fight.

    I just wish that there was some kind of indicator that someone was a minimedic or mini engi so that I would know that "Ok this guy can patch me up and this guy can make q cade or two" when I'm running around.

    why? they could just do what they did with pills where you have a syringe in your hand and click on the bottle in your bag and it fills it without removing the bottle from the bag. Would be easy as fuck.

    No, you'd have to add mechanics in order to make it viable and not completely trash. One pill has the same units as a syringe and can be applied much faster. Additionally, bottles hold way less than a pill bottle 60 to 240. Not only that but syringe comes with the ability to lose it permanently on harm intent which any good shotgun medic will be on. Pills don't have this drawback.

    Also making them take slower might as well not exist because unlike xenos pain slowdown is a thing (you can talk about it being added for xenos but in practice, that hasn't caused them to fall down and take a tile step per one and half second) and even when fully healed you're still slowed down for a minute or two.

    I'll give you a point after mutators being removed but before? You either played a support caste like drone or RNG truly hates you. Hunters would have deleted them in less than 20 seconds because healing doesn't matter when the other guy takes out a chunk of your health with one click. As for it being powergaming to take pills before a fight, that's something Moderators+ decide, not you.

    Predosing yourself with medicine before a fight is not powergaming, and even if it were ever ruled as such it would be pretty much unenforceable.

    I think minimedic is overtuned right now but the bigger issue at hand is that there's no middle ground between pill bottles and injectors. You either have the extremely efficient and long-lasting healing that a pill bottle gives, or the piss-poor waste of inventory space that is the equivalent autoinjector. Hyposprays with reload cartridges could be a cool middle ground between the two, but right now mini medic is in an awkward space where it's too good with pills but would be way too shitty with just injectors.
