    Hivelord is ded?

Grenades can murderize resin really easily now. You used to have fire to clear sticky resin spam, but not it feels like your hard spammed resin isn't going to stop marines for longer than 5 seconds a patch. That and, you can't spam as much without the plasma boosts.

    Grenades will be adjusted soon.

In any case this was always possible. People just didn't take grenade boxes planetside.

    This.

Grenades were always good at making Hivelord useless, it was just never taken because it wasn't also effective against xenos. Xenos had 2x speed mutators making them able to dodge grenades for days. Now slower castes, that are MEANT to be slow, can actually be surprised by a HEDP now.

You have to use clever placement of walls, resin doors, and sticky to survive now instead of just spamming sticky and calling it a day. Use castes that counter HEDP use, like Crusher, Boiler, etc.

You can add hivelord, drone, carrier, burrower, rav, and pretty much all beans after the hilariously awful recent changes from the 'devs'.

The hivelord is still an amazing asset, last night for me during a lowpop round, a somewhat bald hivelord made it to ancient and during that time created many defenses on barrens, without them our victory probably would not have occured planetside, remember unlike marine defenses, you can infinitely place them, walls are arguably better then sticky in big big areas unless you've spent lots of time making defenses.

I think the reason people feel that hivelord is "useless" is due to the fact that they were so used to the crutch that was spamming sticky that they never bothered to hone their hive building skills beyond "puke sticky resin EVERYWHERE and then call it a day".

Sticky reason alone a good defense does not make. You gotta combine that with walls, which are really durable when built/upgraded by a hivelord. Building defenses can be like making a cake: You don't make a cake out of just frosting, do you?

Hivelord is NEVER useless. A few days ago I single handily killed a bread after using hivelord memes to corner it. Sticky resin spam is still viable as not every marine carries nades and not every marine things about using them for just clearing weeds. Building up the hive fast is an essential to xeno wins.

Good hivelord players can easily carry a hard-pressed xeno team.

The walls are tough to destroy, and the sticky slows marines down massively and makes them really easy to kill if they unga over it, which they always do.
