    Any counter to SADAR?

    There are a ton of mechanics in the game I still get mad at, on both sides, over this game I seem to still be obsessed with. In MOST cases, I may call it BS, but I least I can make some kind of comeback in my mind as to some balancing around it. Going to focus on xeno side as my counter complaint comes from a marine side action.

    White flame OB will kill just about any xenos on contact in a huge range. Yea but there was a warning on general location, and if really stuck you could try running to the marines and pray to god they didn't fire it danger close. Even if fired directly on top of you, there SHOULD be enough time to get out of most OB strikes.

    Shotgun juggling means solo marines can kill many xenos. Sure but to do that in the first place they have to be at point blank range, and you can see if they have a shotgun in their hands. Xenos can see through walls so in just about any case you at least had a warning your death was coming if you were to go close to them.

    Stims marines can outrun and gun down the xenos. Yes but stims have been dialed back so they now appear only later in the game allowing combat without them. Only in combination with other cheap tactics like said shotgun juggling does it become really a noticable problem. Otherwise they tend to just push harder. It is still dangerous for stimmed marines to run straight into the xeno line. Sometimes their sense of power can make them overconfident too.

    Grenade jugging...is painful. At least it requires some skill in timing along with xenos being in the right position at the right timing. I feel like with the number of times I have been juggled it might be too easy but at the same time I have never tried it myself. If they are not gods at it, there IS a window you can notice and avoid it, or so it seems. There was one god who managed to get a grenade behind me and immediately explode it so my stun body was in front of the marines, but it was so well executed I wasn't even mad.

    Finally onto the topic: SADAR. I got nothing. I can be a defender with crest down, poke my head out the door, see SADAR was one tile below where I could see, and now I am dead. Same with many other xeno classes. Usually just a SADAR rocket followed by a few bullets onto the now destroyed area with my stunned body sitting in the open. One shot one kill.

    The tip of the round wants you to reflect on why you died sometimes and how to improve. In those circumstances all I got is don't fight marines. There could be a SADAR that will one shot you without anything you can do about it.

    edit: died to sadar again as prae, yep, I might be done with this game for a while

    I just take it an an 'Act of God' as they say in insurance companies.

    Sometimes shit happens. That sadar probably had binos and saw you so he could time it. I also saw SGs giving power pack and sights to sadars so they can see further. Even as an engi I could equip said stuff from a perma SG and while I could not use night vision, I could use the zoom out feature. Whops powergaming? So fix it.

    On both side you can die to this Act of God. As a marines you have virtually no counter to a well time screech+acid runner combo. With full acid it will instakill you. In theory you could do this or that, in game forget it. You will die.

    On xeno side you also have silent/non warning mortars. I'm not talking about direct fire. I'm talking about instadeath where you can only hear the mortar coming sound and 2 seconds later on lands on you. 95% of time you have the usual message. Rest of 5% time you don't. Not even sure if it's a bug or a feature. When you complain they just say enable warnings. Dude... read the last sentence. I didn't turn it off mid round.

    But I agree. There is a difference between 3 survs chasing you with not low, but NON RP naked, stimmed in the dark as a nun, I complained about this, devs don't care, they siding with survs. Ruins RP, ruins immersion, I say ruins fun also for xenos. Not like we have a say, they want Doom guy survs crossdressing as a nun in an alien universe, well they have it.

    I just saw the other post complaining about unga ball and boring strategies on marine side. They list 100 reason why it's like this and nobody admitting the reason for this, it's because it works. What's the point of RP and immersion when it won't get you a kill, but a power gaming veteran will always get a kill with the most unorthodox methods, be it nade juggling, shotty juggling, 6x MOU3 flatchette shot under 1 second with windows macros, M39+flamer or throwing nades than shooting it with a gun to bounce it off. These are ridiculous things from a lore, RP, 'reality' perspective, yet players use it as it will get you a kill, but a RPig pulse rifle tall won't.

    Don't expect any change. Just accept that Act of God happens.

    Unironic skill issue. Consider dodging.

    Also:

    If a SADAR is that close and fires, they'll almost guaranteed kill themselves in the attempt as well. Which doesn't even mention the amount of meta-targetting SADAR experiences. You get grabbed once and are essentially guaranteed to get gibbed.

    They have one shot and a 5 second reload, the answer really is 'dodge it'
    If you don't feel confident enough to dodge then the other awnser is 'Keep an open ear for your sisters calling 'Sadar' and don't push until he's shot or Brazil'd'

    And if you get blasted with a rocket as a defender consider that a win since they just blew a fucking rocket on a T1
    A lonesome cowboy, a chilled out broski, or an executive intern.

    Its really hard to die against the RPG unless you're balding
    GL is more of a threat than RPG because it can destroy T1s and T2s consistently.

    As a defender you are a "rock". As SADAR spec, he is a "paper".

    Hey guys, how to counter paper as rock in the game of "rock - paper - scissors"? I think its a bad game design that there is no counter for paper when you play rock. Change it.

    To mightbearetard: Hah happened to me a few times on OBs too. Worst was on the white flames, didn't hear a thing, I was on the VERY edge of the white flames OB and just burned and died. I chalked it down to bad coding and unlucky positioning.

    To lurkermain: I agree. All specialists should be capable of snagging kills, or contributing to it. Or at least affecting the battle lines. The sniper does a REALLY good job of pissing me off with flames or making sure I have to run far away when on low health even if they rarely kill.

    To Sakuyoi: Maybe I keep running up against custom OT rockets, but as defender they take my health from 450 to 50 with a stun, and as prae it has got to be 450-500 health to crit and on fire. I don't get how you don't die when hit.

    To CABAL: that is a crap example. I suppose crusher, spitter, lurker, runner, prae, boiler, warrior, and any other class I missed that I got one shot rocket deathed from are also rocks. What class is the scissors? Is it the Ravenger? Can I play Rav and perma the sadar from 1.5 screens away? Is there some act of god play xenos can do on the sadar? The only time I ever got him somewhat alone he just blows up both of us and his teammates revive him afterwards.

    The counters I am looking for is what ANY xeno can do to, or at least what you can do to survive. Something like what I mentioned with the others. I never played SADAR myself so it may actually exist. Something like:

    -From when he clicks to fire, similar to boiler, there is a 2 second delay, so I could have predicted him and ran away in time.
    -If he hits himself he will perma so he has it just as bad if a runner or lurker got in front of his rocket shot all of a sudden.
    -The rocket's path beyond 4 tiles has a HUGE error margin to actually getting directly hit and easily dying is unlucky.
    -Custom rockets break both his arms so at least your death won't happen to another xeno within the next 5 seconds after he reloads.

    Is there anything like this?

    Edit: oh I did think of one at least. If his allies charge in at the same time they will die with me. Doesn't mean too much when they can come back pretty quick but it does mean something. I hope they can get fractures from dying that way.

    How to counter RPG:

    Step 1: evolve to praetorian

    step 2: choose a strain( warden hard counter, opressor can nab it while staying out of AP range and Vanguard can dash behind him)

    Step 3: use their ability
