The round where UPP won without firing a single shot. [Retelling, actual story later]

I will note that this is a retelling of the incident, with an actual story coming later.

To begin our journey, we need to be introduced to our cast of heroes or more appropriately our viewpoint characters for this operation. [If you want your ckey to be next to the character you played just let me know, I have four of them already just from our after round chats but will not reveal them unless they want it known who they played.]

Firstly we had Sergeant Boris Gorgevich, our team leader during the operation. Then we had Sergeant Andrei Jurisk, played by myself, as the UPP Specialist. Corporal Vasily Stalin as our sometimes forgetful Medic. Private Boris Goresk and Private Gregor Vashnik. With Vladimir the synth rounding out our elite band of smooth talkers and quick thinkers.

The true beginning of our tale starts within the secure storage dome of LV-624, where I discovered a nuclear activation disk and pointed it out to Sergeant Boris, who swiped it and kept it safe on his person. From here we were given our assignment, we had a special diskette with a special weapons program known as ZEUS that could devastate planets with orbital bombardments. Getting the ZEUS diskette out would be our sole concern and we had been cut off from any reinforcements for the time being but knew a USCM ship had entered orbit.

We were also very aware of the Xenomorphs, and just how dangerous they were so began fortifying the secure storage more. As we were working we heard a shotgun firing outside as a colonist was trying to use the secure storage to hide and wanted to take the wall down. We lined up, aiming at the area the colonist was trying to shoot into, before we heard lots of screaming, clawing and bones breaking. Our poor colonist here would not be alive for long.

After the brief bit of tension, we finished securing all the barricades and setting up the mounted gun to fire at the door. Then, tentatively, Sergeant Boris opened the door but we could not see anything. The door was closed and I pointed out that we had flashlights, so one was grabbed and tossed to the front before the door was open again. Here is when a red runner showed up that was dragging a headless, chest bursted corpse around. We all held fire, just watching as the runner came in, slowly moved the corpse towards us and ran off. Soon enough a lurker showed up and again we held our fire and watched as the lurker danced around in the open doorway.

This lasted for about 30 seconds before marines showed up and shot at the luker and runner who ran away. This is when we began our negotiations with the Alpha Squad Leader and, once the headset was offered, the Executive Officer. All through the negotiations, Alpha was being slaughtered, explosions and screams could be heard to the west of secure dome and the Alpha SL was getting more anxious.

Eventually an agreement was reached and we would head for LZ2 to evacuate to the Almayer with some wounded. So with that, and ensuring we were bringing the dog Lisa along, we made our way towards LZ2 but before we could get there command made a radio announcement from the Admirality that stated a weapons program disk was located at secure storage and the disk had been stolen from a USCM research facility. At first some of our group paniced but I leaned in to Sergeant Boris and whispered Give them the nuke disk, they dont know it isnt what they are after at which point Boris called out in excitement.

The marines escorting us stopped and turned to look at us, weapons being wielded before the marines asked if we had any special disks on us. Our Leader now pulls out the nuclear authentication disk and offered it to the Marine.

Here just take this, we want to leave the monster world now!

The marines accepted it without a second thought, and to further show we were here to help, Sergeant Boris grabbed one of the wounded, sadly braindead, marines and began dragging them towards LZ2, while I asked our medic in english if we could help the marine. Again showing ourselves to be forthcoming and helpful to further get us into the USCMs good graces.

It was at this time an Alpha marine walked up to Lisa the dog, being held by one of our privates, and point blank shotgun blasted her. As we came into the dropship I began playing up the poor dogs fate

One red american shot dog, said commies dont get nice things!

The charlie marines aboard the dropship were outraged crying out for justice for Lisa and asking how could an Alpha marine be so cruel? The marines aboard Normandy were getting rowdy and demanding vengeance on the Alpha Marine, which is when the charlie medic accidently shot the spec in the machinegunners seat aboard the dropship.

This is when the medic began to help heal the damage he has done, and when I asked our medic to assist. Corpral Stalin was hesitant at first, saying they had their own medic already and I pointed out it would further show us being helpful, so they unbuckled and went over to aid the spec. While Vladimir, our synth, was helping to relay information to the marines.

Cpl. Stalin: You have brain damage capitalist.

    Spec: You think!?

Me: You have doctor on ship yes? Doctor fix you!

Private Gregor: Yes, capitalist doctors are best, you be fine!

Once the dropship landed, we moved the marine body and a xenomorph corpse towards medbay, constantly talking about the monsters, while I was playing up finally feeling relief from being away from the nightmare below. This is where an MP showed up, trying to get us back on the dropship. So I began making a scene about the monsters on the planet and trying to play the part of a traumatized survivor, while Sergeant Boris was trying to talk the MP out of sending us back down to the planet by saying we needed food and a shower.

At this point Sergeant Boris told us to move, and we all hurriedly rushed back towards Normandy, but instead of getting on the dropship we moved to the Port Umbilical and attempt to get into maintenance. Yet the MP caught us as one of our members opened the door, and was alarmed we would be trying to escape into maintenance.

Once again I play up the traumatized survivor, while the others start to play along in various states of requesting food and shelter. Then Sergeant Boris makes a request for us to phone someone for pickup, to which I jump in stating it doesnt need to be Moscow but any neutral vessel will do. Essentially we were trying to overwhelm the MP with information and requests to leave this sector of space.

Sensing the MP was being a bit dim, Sergeant Boris tried asking him for his comms so he could talk with the Executive Officer since we had been forthcoming and downright helpful up to that point. We all knew though that if the MP was actually stupid enough to hand over his comms that we would all jump and kill him before he could run to get help. Yet the Executive Officer actually declared his intention to come down and meet with us, thus holding off the bloodshed a little longer.

The XO shows up with an SO and we again begin to request a phonecall so we can call for pickup to leave the ship and sector. The XO told us to holster our weapons, at which point one of our Privates dropped the flamethrower he was carrying, I swept it up and tossed it far away from us, to show our cooperation. The XO then had us wait as he ran off the get a crate so he could take all our weapons.

Sergeant Boris refused to be disarmed until after we got our phonecall and that none of us would be separating from each other. At this point Sergeant Boris hit on an idea, and requested that if we are to be disarmed in exchange for the phonecall, we should do so only at the CIC so we are all together and the comms system is right there for us to use.

The XO hesitantly agreed and our group of 9 began to head towards the CIC, where we ran into the CO who had just been woken from cryo. The CO was confused as to why UPP were on his ship but we were polite and mentioned the monsters on the planet and that we needed to make a call to be picked up. The CO agreed to do the deal at the CIC and we all made it there without incident, where I took my helmet off and played up relaxing in one of the chairs at the tactical map.

This is when I hit on the idea to use the synth Vladimir to our advantage, asking the synth if it had the ability to lie, and if it didnt it could tell the marines that we wished to just leave. Sadly Vladimir informed the marines that he could lie to protect the lives of his comrades, to which I noted then that he wouldnt be able to make our intentions clear.

Given the failed attempt with the synth the XO wanted us to disarm as they were fearful that we would attempt to take the CIC, or when the shuttle was called to evacuate us, would attempt to take the whole ship. The CO though overruled the concerns, citing that we had been helpful up to that point and even just allowing us to keep our weapons. Sergeant Boris made the call and we were ready to leave the CIC, just as the announcement that the dropship had been hijacked and was bringing the xenomorphs to the Almayer.

With that we bid the CIC crew goodbye and began to run from the bridge, to which several marines noted us leaving and asked various forms of What the fuck? UPP here? The hell are commies on the bridge for? To which we ignored and quickly ran past the CLs office and towards the computer lab.

As we went into the computer room, I noticed a cloning data diskette and quickly swept it up to secure it. Sergeant Boris made a big show of stating this is where the UPP command asked us to wait for the shuttle, and once the marines who had been following us lost interest and ran to CIC to defend against the xenomorphs we had a new plan.

Sergeant Boris: Take every bit of intel they have, leave nothing behind.

So we began grabbing every document, paper, poster and diskette in the room, when one of the Privates brought a crate over and we dumped all the intel inside. This is when Chief Engineer Trevor Sharpe showed up, curious as to why UPP were taking the Intel. Yet Sergeant Boris played it off as us waiting for the evac ship, and I piped in saying the Marine could evacuate the nightmare with us!

Sharpe agreed immediately as the dropship impacted the Almayer and knocked us all down. Vladimir ran around picking everyone back up as fast as they could and our group moved to south pods, and went down the ladders with the intel. Vladimir opened the emergency shutters and maintance hatch before we entered the tunnels and waited at the southern ERT landing antechamber.

This is when the admins began the Soviet Unions national anthem midi and the UPP Shuttle landed. Our team quickly made our way onboard and strapped in, declaring our intent to evacuate immediately while other UPP wanted to stay and fight. This is when the admin informed everyone that if we leave now our round was over and we would not be brought back to fight aboard the Almayer so make your choice to stay or go.

Our group stayed together as our mission was, and always had been, to exfiltrate the ZEUS disk at all costs, and so we departed on the shuttle with a few other UPP who decided to escort us out. It was at this point Sergeant Boris began to flaunt the fact we had the weapons program disk the marines were supposed to find and secure, and we began to celebrate aboard the shuttle while stripping the Chief Engineer of his weapons and zip tying his hands.

In short, not only did we complete our objective of getting the ZEUS Program to UPP Command, but we stole every scrap of intel, took a valuable political prisoner for the Secretariat to speak with, and all without firing a single bullet the entire round.

    UPP MAJOR MAJOR indeed

Today I learned that as Alpha Lead that round I served the communists in more ways than I realized. I'm sure Harrison secretly wouldn't mind, my character is extremely opposed to Wey-Yu and megacorporations, and holds a lot of secret sympathy for the UPP.

GLORY TO THE UNITED PROGRESSIVE PEOPLES COMRADE!
