    I still think you need to give my public defender role a chance!

    Half the reason people hate MPs is that command is too busy to hear appeals or interact. And no one can help them.

    Give us a role that's sole job is to hold the mps responsible and bring the appeals to command on a marines behalf.

    Also they are a fun antagonist to the CL.. someone who is interested in only the companies interests...

    imagine the paperwork wars you could have.

    I think you fail to understand the fundamental dynamic. Marines have more people who can potentially be involved, so the marine gear can't be balanced for 1v1, so they should have more tools and tactics as their disposal.

    But I feel with comments like that you're not really entering in to the topic in the best of faith.

    There are already enough SOs that take up the position of wannabe IAA (mostly the same suspects everytime), that then try to obstruct MPs in their arrests at every step of the process. I don't think that behavior needs to be enabled.

    I actually agree with you on some parts (probs should done a : )))) instead of the ...). I didnt understand why they changed MP gear so much, I never thought that the old taser needed such a drastic nerf or anything and as far as the stun baton goes not being able to pick it up is fair because I mean think of how much MPs get robusted already and now imagine if you could dispose their weapons etc. (stun from pick up could be nerfed or just not stun at all tbh)

    As far as bad faith youre spot on tbh, I have a really low opinion of the current MP mentality. I see you mention alot of changes and reworks I agree with gamewise but then they never come to fruition and instead something the polar opposite will happen so I get kinda skeptical and don a tin foil hat. And as far as marines doing the thinking what I was getting at was the fact that MPs have it so easy on tracking down etc. Like I can hack into engineering roundstart deploy come back up for surgery 2 hours later and because a magic fingerprint was left the MP knows I did the crime, no having to actually investigate or ask for witnesses like what gives.


    And as far as what exgame is saying yea but no. The rule can have rules and guidelines on how it should be carried out, those SO's are just improving and trying to cuck MPs. And behavior being enable? No one seemed to have a problem with arresting engineers for hacking squad req, or pulling someone out the DS last minute to tell them to grab a helmet. CM has IC and OOC protections for being a dick so whats one more role for people to be dicks on.

    IDK whenever I have to run away or kill mps because im hacking stuff as survivors I usually dont have a problem killing them with like any marine / survivor weapon because of how easy it is to dodge tazers

    Thanks for expanding on your thoughts, it's actually really useful when people go a little more in-depth.

    I think a lot of the issues with the reworks usually is that a lot of the time, the reworks have to go through layers such as actual code changes, then be approved by staff, then have to be explained to the community if, for example, we added better MP investigation tools, many may see that as an MP buff, rather than working towards having MPs have to require more evidence regarding crimes, which as a result, would likely open the door to things such as the corrupt MPs suggested by the MP/MT combined rework.

    Hell, even important things such as the flash, the recorder, and JAS(MP detainment console) and broken/buggy. Fortunately we have forest and an odd dev here and there who are kind enough to spend time fixing things that aren't a quick fix for us, but there is only so much time they can spare.

    I've always thought expanding the role so MPs can assist on overwatch (IF no SOs are available) or increasing the population slightly so they can, for example, escort a researcher to the colony to gather corpses/materials/ect, would be a way to vitalise multiple departments rather simply, without requiring many, if any code changes.

    I sorta agree with the idea of removing some of the id locking for some not all of the MPs equipment, it would make sense for a marine to know not to touch the bonk part of a stun baton and not get stunned.
