README - DEVELOPER APPLICATIONS

Post by apophis775 » 26 Apr 2015, 23:06

Very important, that you FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Fill out the forum, as if you were filling it out to be a moderator. Our developers, have Mod equalivent rank, but with additional access.

2. Add the following fields to the bottom of your application. If you aren't able to do that, your probably not going to be able to develop:

What type of Developing do you want to do (Mapping, Spriting, Coding, other)?

What coding languages are you familiar with (ignore if your not a spriter)?

Do you know how to use Git?

Links to samples of your work :

3. Understand that, you WILL be expected to show that you are able to do what you claim, and will be interviewed by a dev team member. A good application, doesn't mean anything if you can't answer the interviewers questions.

4. Know that you are expected to know the server rules and staff procedures, and are bound by the code of conduct.

Also, something to note:

There has been this "craze" lately of people going around releasing sourcecodes and fighting as "open source warriors". Due to the nature of our code we want to avoid being opensource because it reveals a lot of how things work and our worry is that it'll go from being Colonial Marines to Calculator Marines as people see the damage and armor values and calculate our the best possible damage amounts and most efficient setups.

As a result, this GREATLY extends our time when we are looking at potential new developers. Because we need to make sure not only that you know what your doing (our code isn't really good for teaching) but that your trustworthy as well. A single coder who leaks our stuff, can ruin the entire experience of the game for everyone. Not that, it wouldn't stop us from continuing to develop, but it would be a bit of a blow.
