RESEARCH UPDATE

Post by apophis775 » 30 Aug 2016, 03:56

It's there.

The Researcher Office needs a little work cause it's getting so cramped, but the base functionality is there.

There are 3 new "items"

Resin Paste - Used to fix helmets
Chitin Plates - Used to reinforce armor (spoilers: If you put it onto a B18 it'll actually reduce your armor and slow you due to how it changes the armor values. Anything else is a big increase)
AntiAcid spray - used to make things unacidable. Doesn't work no walls or doors.

The BIG part of this, is that we now have the "basis" for all future research systems.

We can now easily add items and resources with minimal effort.

Expect Research Update Part 2 in a few weeks, when we've got some new ideas for items and equipment.

Chitin plating should be acid resistant, this means complete or very high immunity to acid and neurotoxin!
The FitnessGram™ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. [beep] A single lap should be completed each time you hear this sound. [ding] Remember to run in a straight line, and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start. On your mark, get ready, start.

Does the Resin Paste only work on normal helmets? I gotta test it out myself using the SL's helmet someday, but someone claimed it didn't work.

It'd be nice if chitin could be applied to the helmets as most xenos tend to aim for the head instead of other limbs.

Can we remove research nades now? Suicide bombing with research nades is incredibly stupid and effective.

If the component gets comsumed, it applied. Also, it'll give you a test that says it did something.

This update is a Pandora's box, once you open it a flood of suggested content is going to come rushing out.

Calling it Pandora's box implies that terrible things will come about as a result of it. I don't think people providing suggestions is as terrible as you seem to think.

Not all ideas/suggestions are made equally. Its mostly a implication that due to the sheer magnitude of suggestions coming in, the devs are going to be more busy in all likelyhood sifting through them than implementing.

Resin paste for B18 helmets should repair it to at least two uses. I used resin paste on B18 when I was a Spec and it was worth the same as a normal helmet.
It's not dying after you shot it a couple of times? I think the real question is, why didn't you keep shooting?

Research update was a failure. Best thing about the role is still the grenades, doing anything else is a waste of time.
