Peridaxon Doesn't Heal Welder Eye Damage Properly

Post by Surrealistik » 25 Sep 2017, 05:02

Bug Description:

Encountered a survivor apparently who remained blind from welding even after her eye damage was fully repaired with Peridaxon.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Accumulate eye damage via welding
2. Get treated with Peridax
3. The eye damage repair doesn't remove the blindness despite eye damage being reduced to 0.

There's a level of eye damage that not even Peri can fix. One time I welded a single door and I was permanently blinded even when I pumped myself with peri.

At that point I think you need surgical intervention.

Well, whatever this level of eye damage is, it's not at all displayed on the scanners; seems like a bug to me.

Further, this person had only 3 eye damage when I administered the Peridaxon; this was reduced to 0, and she was still blind.

If the eyes are totally FUBAR beyond Peridax, the scanner should say something.

3 eye damage, and still blind?
I could have sworn you needed more than 3 eye damage to be blind.

Also how long was it? eye damage works weirdly, if you apply peridaxon or fix their eyes after surgery, depending on damage it takes about 20 seconds to a minute or two for their eyesight to actually start working, because bay.

Yeah so this happened to me once. I was a medic, welded up a ton of brute damage on someone, and expected my peridaxon to fix me but it never did.

I believe what happens is at a high enough eye damage, the genetic BLIND tag is set, and decreasing eye damage back to 0 won't remove it. I know that eye surgery worked to remove the blindness though. I don't recall if we tried imidazoline but that might be worth trying.

I had this happen to someone once, he had in excess of three hundred eye damage (caused by walking around with skull frctures) and even after reducing to zero with a cocktail of peri and imadolizine was still blind. Manual fixing by surgery worked, though.

I would have tried it, but I didn't have the time to administer eye surgery at the time sadly, because she was a survivor and I had a surgery hell of marines to treat after she was discharged.

Bottom line, if that's how it works and is intended to work, the scanner should definitely point out the problem.

Had this once, I recall that the MPs brought in a prisoner claiming to be blind but health analyzers and the advanced scanner showed nothing wrong with him or his eyes.

I'm not 100% sure but I think you can administer Imidazoline to treat eye damage that peri doesn't fix instead of doing surgery. I'd recommend testing though.

Can confirm the BLIND tag theory. Had to deal with it once a while ago and that's what I found out.

Encountered this bug couple days ago, seen it happen in the old Sulaco too.
