New Research Guide

Post by Arachnidnexus » 21 Dec 2016, 22:56

So I started a new page at wiki/Research_Guide because some new researchers had absolutely no idea of what R&D can do and how to get to the stage where they can do interesting and/or beneficial things as the researcher. One told me in LOOC that the CM Wiki's research information was "useless" for learning about R&D. Since the link on the front page links to the Baystation12 guide which has very little to do with what Researchers do on the Sulaco, I thought I'd set up some framework for fleshing out a guide that's CM-specific.

So if you check it out you can see that there's a large list of snidely written TODOs for myself, but I would also appreciate any information and edits. Some areas I'm especially weak on are combat chem mixes and explosives. I know there's some of you out there who pride yourself on making marine stimpaks or making things blow up, so I'm hoping to get some further information there. General formatting advice would also be nice since I haven't edited the wiki in forever. Drop me feedback in this thread and I'll try to get it incorporated in the guide.

You could use the template here if you like. I built that template on Bay's wiki several years ago in an attempt to make things a lot simpler to upgrade research levels.

You could write how to build cloning pods, security camera consoles, and all this stuff.
On May 17, 2016, a group of farmers dug up the diary of an ear of corn named Watson. Here are his entries.

Day 76:
They took Lawrence, dear god Lawrence... They ripped him off the stalk and smeared him in butter, just like Tyler and Jodie. They shipped him off to the popcorn factory...
I wonder what his wife will say.

Day 120: My brother says the VEGANS are protesting for more anti-meat bullshit. They want more of us to die. FUCKING HEATHENS.

Day 153: The ants are eating me from the inside out. They are popping out my kernels and taking them back to the nest. I feel them moving inside me. Julia says the pesticides will end our misery.

Day 300: Sweet Release. I can hear the planes flying over now. They are dropping the gas, it feels so good, sweet release-

Good points. Rahlzel, I'll include the table as well but for CM it's almost not necessary because of how few items are to max the relevant tech levels. Still, I might add it as an appendix of sorts. Sad_Corn, I'll work on the machine stuff too but any help would be appreciated since usually I'm too lazy to make more machines besides an autolathe and a cloner or two for medbay.
