Dapper Stache - Yeyin Zabin (Brave Insect)

Post by Dapper Stache » 13 Apr 2017, 18:45

Byond ID:
Dapper Stache

Marine Name (so we know who you are, if you play alien mostly, state that here):
Aria 'Weaver' Vivici

Name of the character you want whitelisted (The name your predator will use. This must match your in-game predator name):

Yeyin Zabin (Brave Insect)

Are you familiar with the Predator Code Of Honor?

Yeah.

Character background (A very BRIEF description of your predators background):

Yeyin has always been a strange and curious Yautja. As a child, whenever his elder instructors would bring him along on smaller hunts he would always get distracted by small bugs or various patterns in the trees, never quite focusing on the quarry at hand. This earned him the name Brave Insect, or Yeyin Zabin. He was still decent in combat, and able to track prey relatively well, but he’d always lacked the sort of drive it took to go out and hunt Xenomorphs endlessly, much to the displeasure of those tasked with training him. When questioned why he’d always say ,”I respect the serpents, and they are indeed worthy prey. I still enjoy hunting them, but they aren’t… interesting.” This statement had always confused his mentors, they’d always been completely satisfied with serpent prey, it always gave them a challenging hunt. Why was the challenge not enough for this student? He eventually passed his test and became blooded, which was the first time in a while that he’d been truly happy to hunt xenomorphs.

He’d continue like this even when he began to hunt on his own, always being slightly more interested in the backdrop than his quarry, that was, until he finally encountered Humans. His clan had dismissed them as unworthy prey, but to him, they were unlike any other prey he’d ever seen. They used tools that weren’t parts of their bodies, made objects and shelter, grouped together not only for protection and the sharing of goods and work, but for companionship and common goals. He simply had to know more. There were xenomorphs on the jungle planet he’d been hunting on, which was the reason he was here in the first place. Yeyin decided the best course of action would be to keep an eye on these humans as he continued hunting his prey. There were only seven, grouped together in the remnants of what looked to be a shattered building, they lived by growing plants in trays and keeping quiet, making sure they didn’t catch the ire of the nearby serpents. The humans also set small pitfall traps, snares, and chimes in order to keep them at bay, and keep track of their movements. These humans had clearly known about the xenos a long time. This was admirable, maybe humans weren’t the sort of unworthy prey his clanmates had always made them out to be. He started off small, simply watching them. Moving up bigger and bigger from taking a few of their things and disassembling them, to putting things in their camp, to flat out attempting communication by writing on the walls in serpent blood while they all were asleep. Soon, through his spectating he learned their names, which of them reacted to what, what each cared about, each was individual and each was special, a foreign concept in prey that he simply couldn’t find in xenomorphs. He wouldn’t stop until he knew everything about them. During this time he’d still hunt xenomorphs, while making sure he retained his status in the human's mind mysterious invisible force. But eventually he grew tired of his small subject group.

Before he left to find greener pastures, it was time for their final test, how they reacted to the hunt. He threw their camp into disarray by roaring and felling a nearby tree with a plasma blast, this sent most of them running. He’d slowly caught each one, one ran away from the others, he was caught by a pitfall trap that was set days in advance. Another lagged behind and attempted to turn on Yeyin. He was given a knife, and Yeyin fought him. He was overpowered. The others were hunted down and made prey in similar fashions, each one different than the last, each one having a different plan. It was exhilarating and refreshing, getting so much from just one type of prey. Each one was like a hive of it’s own. He stayed on the planet, hunting it’s serpents with a renewed zeal, and living out of the old human settlement. He’d found that their devices pointed to other groups of them and other stations. A research facility on a jungle planet, an excavation site on an icy one. He’d finally found his purpose, and his passion. He wished to know more, not just about the humans but about the serpents, how would they react to various stimuli rather than just the hunt? There was only one way to find out.

How do you intend to play your predator (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your predator. This will weigh HEAVILY and frequently breaking from this MAY result in removal)?

I plan on playing a predator that is intent on studying both sides to the fullest extent he can, both psychologically and physically. You can fully expect him to concoct and conduct full tests on both human and xeno reactions and physiology in order to discover how they think, move, and function, as well as hunting them like he was originally here to do.

Why should we whitelist you?

I enjoy predators and the various situations that they bring to the table, and I’d like to create more RP interaction rather than just standard hunts. I’m also trustworthy, well known in the community, active, and easily reachable, both on the forums and on discord.

Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason (we will check, and lies may result in immediate denial)?

Nope

Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why?

Nah.

Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or disobey the Predator Code of Honor?

Absolutely.
I play Aria Vivici. I think people like me. I'm not sure why.

I like the concept of experimenting and not outright killing, it brings a lot to the table RP wise, your story is different and gives a history of your pred, while also giving insight of how you are going to play it also I can't see any grammar mistakes.

Your story and such isn't bad, and I would have ordinarily upvoted you. However, I think you're too biased to make a good predator. I'd like to hear your response before deciding on anything.

While bias and such certainly comes into play in OOC conversation, and I play it up a good portion of the time for jokes, my bias never reaches IC. The fact of the matter is I simply don't play alien often, and their advantages come to me far more easily than their disadvantages when I talk about them. You also have to take into account that, as a character, Yeyin is focused on observing, studying and hunting both sides equally, and helping or hindering either side as a whole could bring unwanted attention, as well as taint his observations. This character still has his own race to take into account, and as a Yautja, should be far more concerned with his hunt, making an instance of helping or excessively hindering prey either disadvantageous, or character breaking. This means that it simply shouldn't happen unless there are special circumstances involved, like an order from an elder, or higher up clan member. As someone who enjoys roleplaying, it'd be a sin to let this sort of bias work into my characters actions.

You say you play it up, but I am not convinced. I had to tell you to stop complaining more than once, though I don't believe I've had any interaction with you recently (mostly because I haven't been on the server). If you're biased as a player, I have to question how well you can separate IC and OOC. If that won't be a problem, I suppose I can give you shot. But again, I've heard a lot of complaining from you, and it's not an uncommon thing. Enough for me to notice it, which is uncommon for staff. I'd be pretty miffed if you LOOC about shit aliens and being spam tackled as a predator, as an example.

I do tend to complain a lot, and loudly. However, most of the time at this point it's directed at marines doing things wrong, rather than xenos doing things right. I understand that it is worrying. I have been working on curbing the issue as of late, and I can assure that as a predator it will not be a problem. The issue is completely contained to OOC conversation, and should not affect my predator play and rp. As for your example, spam tackling is a thing that aliens do, and it's their strategy for dealing with anything that has a decent amount of health, is dangerous, or that they want to keep alive. If I'm going to salt at them for tacklespam I might as well salt at marines for loading AP when an armored target (I.E. A predator) shows up, using spec weapons on dangerous foes, or staying within line of sight of an active turret. It's a legitimate strategy and an inherent part of their kit. I'm not Nightwolf. I'm not going to get mad at alien players for using the kit that they have been given.

As someone who has talked to Dapper a good bit both in-game and on the CM discord I personally believe he can as he says not be biased as a predator. Even though he does complain a lot it is never always "Xenos are op please nerf" but if we were to deny people applications due to being salty every so often most people on CM probably wouldn't be white-listed.

This is denied, simply because I'd rather you re-apply ASAP.
Your in-game antics lead you to be a heavy marine player and you do salt up dsay often.

Improve this and you'll make it next time.
