Narrative/story elements and writing are largely super cringe trope train cliche riddled animu weeaboo bullshit except for the Lost which are pretty cool.

The mechanical additions though? Awesome. Totally worth the price of admission.

But yeah Firaxis needs to hire an actual writer like say Marc Laidlaw.

I have played XCOM2 when it was released for a while and then stopped and I've no returned to War of the Chosen and with the new mechanics it's like a whole new game tbh.

It's everything x-2 should have been from the start. The game picked up a lot of character (mechanically) with the new expansion... Though it still sort of feels... Odd? There are so many chances for great story pieces but the whole experience is still sort of hollow.

That said, it's like xcom 2.5.
