If you want more information on the topic I'd recommend some videos by Jim Sterling. This one should get you up to date.

Why are all the good games free and cheap now? It's been a while since a nice, casual AAA game came out. Now it's either gotta be something hardcore like Dark Souls or its just a senseless, poorly made cash grab.

Because AAA companies don't care about making a good game, like all companies their end goal is to make as much money as possible. In a time before season passes, pre-orders and lootboxes the way to make money as a AAA publisher was to put out good games. Now companies know that they can put out incomplete messes and people will pay out the ass for the remainder of the game post launch.

If people want good games they have to stop buying bad ones, people love to complain on reddit or laugh with friends, then they go buy the game anyways. Unfortunately, the general gaming audience will probably buy it anyways because "muh Star Wars" and nothing will change.

I personally stopped buying Bethesda games following all the creation club bullshit. And it looks like I'll have to add EA to that list.

EA has a complete monopoly on the Star Wars franchise. They can do whatever they want because they have no competition (atleast with star wars). The only people who truly care anymore about making games fun are Nintendo and indie devs.

Pretty much this. But unfortunately as with most games, there are more people willing to buy them. I should have seen it coming but I was genuinely excited for BF2. Good thing the original is on steam.

Its capitalism at its finest.

maybe we are the loud minority? maybe we are trying to push our views on people who are otherwise quite happy to pay more money for more enjoyment?
maybe bigger and better games will come out that otherwise would not exist if not for the large sums of money raised by loot boxes?

Who knows? time will tell.

o and the "companies putting out complete messes because people will buy them" is actually how they combat piracy. The raw game is buggy and broken as hell but a day 1 patch fixes most of this, a patch pirates wont have access to very easily.

I probably still wind buying it not the elite edition but on Black Friday at most part if it were. The gun play, the atmosphere seems nice, has that starwars feel like your actually in that planet or area. Indeed, they did improve from original Battlefront highly, however some things aint liking at some points. Some heroes come at odd times well correct ones at the period like original Battlefront II sorta got a mix. The whole loot Box system is nonsense; I have watched from Starwar's HQ and even from Angry Joe interview with the producer about such. Loot Box eh, have a loot box or practically pay money even though it requires a extremely high amount of time for certain unlocks which sorta not needed and requiring loot boxes to achieve it as well. Now a days, loot boxes and that sort has became popular among games and is more likely will be seen in the future of games. Sorta over did the loot box system, what if nerf loot box system to hell or get rid of it completely?

I believe the last estimate was that it would take >4100 hours to unlock all of the content in Battlefront 2... or you can pay 2100 dollars for it.

Playing Battlefront 2 now due to EA access giving me a trial.

The game sub-par at best. For those who may be on the fence, dont bother.

So it appears been update Starwars HQ about Loot Boxes, Progression, Spawning on Squads. Which interested me the most was about Galactic Conquest in which the original Battlefront II was freaken amazing at least they makin the attempt but eh. Loot Boxes/Progression sorta a let down. What be yer thoughts about if they did put Galactic Conquest? I personally if they can pull it off legitly I think I'd love it. Being with the new timelines even with Clone wars era they can pull off.

A good galactic conquest, and $59.99 price tag, then you can keep the lootboxes in imo. Oh wait forgot it was EA. Yea, no.
