Why All The Hate for Fallout 76?

Post by Marcus Jackson » 22 Jun 2018, 01:50

So looking it over, it doesn't seem too bad, but discussion from multiple places has many people saying it will instantly be shit, and that it will ruin all future TES and Fallout games hands-down.

I've seen many compare it to Rust with warnings of super-clans controlling everything and hyper-toxic servers being the norm, but to me frankly, Rust has too large a player number per-server (and no offense intended) that is comprised mostly of aggressive Eastern Europeans with little to no in-game rules and protections beside self-policing each server by the biggest clans in the area.

While I'm certainly not claiming that it's a guaranteed success, or that it will even be as good as ESO (which isn't all that great), I'm at least going to give the Beta a chance.

Anyone have opinions on this, differing or otherwise?

It's because there isn't enough information out about it. Also people are afraid of change, and the fact that this isn't a normal RPG Fallout gets people worked up. I'm looking forward to play it with some of my buddies. A whole huge open world to explore, and the ability to take squad pics to intimidate other players.

To me it seems like a damn good game and although its gonna have some ark/rust like functions it seems to have a lot of genuine parts to it. A lot of unique things and people to me at least, don't like it due to it not being able to be played single player as a fallout game. Like every previous installment has been single player. You take this game people enjoy and put a spin on it and they'll be fearful for all future games taking this chance. But I got high hopes for it. Haven't kept up with it too much but it seems like its gonna be a really damn fun game!

My only concern is the ability to launch the various warheads across the map. I understand you need to collect parts of codes to actually use them, but who says people won't just camp these sites and not allow anyone near them? Or people just using them to troll people just trying to build or on people who just started? I understand the rarity of these code parts that they claim will be, well, very rare, to where they may not just randomly use them, but you know how people are.

Regardless, I'm excited for this. While Fallout 4 is the only Fallout game I've played, I've fallen in love with the series, and plan to get Fallout: NV and Fallout 3 very soon to play until Fallout: 76 is released. I hope the news we get about it in the future is really good.

Plus- if you pre-order you get a map that GLOWS IN THE FUCKIN' DARK.
IT GLOWS IN THE FUCKIN' DARK

God bless Todd Howard.

Personally im pretty excited for how it turns out, it truly will be something unique for once in the Fallout Series! And Stiggs i hugely recommend Fallout: New Vegas and its DLC's. Its one hell'o an adventure and was the first Fallout game i got into, it has tons of lore/story if you're interested and easter eggs etcetera aswell as a huge bucket of Factions.

I want to play Fallout, not Rust, that is why.

Because it'll be nothing more than a re-skin of FO4 with MP, an online store and several other ways I imagine to buy content.

Don't think for a second that the building aspect of FO4 wasn't implemented to test the waters for this exact thing.

They're taking one of the most iconic RPG single player franchises, and turning it into something that is not an RPG or singleplayer.

If change is the problem then I guess FO3, New Vegas, and FO4 don't count because they aren't all that similar to FO1 and 2.

Change can sometimes be a good thing, the only issue would be if they were forcing Fallout 5 to be entirely multiplayer, which they are not, since this is a spin-off just like that shitty Ps2/Xbox game and New Vegas, changes in Fallout 76 are not subject to be implemented into Fallout 5 unless they are widely successful and approved of by the fan-base.

Yeah, but the game might be lackluster without having other people to play with. Either way Fallout was perfectly fine as a single player game, so I'm not surprised people are a bit upset they've decided to make it this online multiplayer game, accompanied by the other thousands of multiplayer online games inhabiting the market. Its got hints of Triple-A meddling the formula of the game to get an extra buck out of it, but I dunno how the game will be, its just people thinking ahead. I'm still on the fence about it.

FO3, New Vegas, and FO4 are all single player RPGs. The changes from the first two into the more modern games don't change the type of game it is, but rather the gameplay. The heart of the game being just 'the genre of game' that they were did not change.

FO76 is not really a Fallout game, and more of an MMOish title with a Fallout paint job. And it might be a good game, only time will tell, however I'm not personally excited for it because I prefer single player RPGs and not base building Rust type games.

Not gonna lie, I like fallout for the single player aspect because it works. I don't see launching mininukes across the map at eachother as working. Getting killed instantly by something that is impossible to prevent just sucks.

But hey, I guess we'll see in the beta as to how it goes. I may be wrong.

I don't think you'll be able to do much targeting with the nukes besides choosing which town to blow. From what I've seen nukes are supposed to be an end game thing, and by nuking a town you gain access to rarer items for the duration of the town's irradiation. Seeing that the game is meant to hold such few players in such a large map I'd hope the game would be enjoyable playing solo. You either play with your friends, or you treat the other players like a random encounter.

Well last time Bethesda decided to take one of their flagship game titles to the online world, they kinda screwed it up!

While ESO ain't my cup of coffee, it's current financial success would say otherwise to them "screwing it up".

Fallout 76 actually looks like it could be fun. From what I've read, you won't be able to nuke players, and the idea of a fallout MMO does sound pretty cool. But there's a few things I'm concerned about. Seeing fallout with microtransactions and lootboxes would be shitty. Judging from the trailers, it also looks like it's a fallout 4 reskin with slightly improved graphics.
