DELTARUNE (A.k.a. - undertale 2)

Post by Elcheba » 02 Nov 2018, 02:33

So uhh, i just finished the "Demo" and i would like to know what you guys think about it?

Obviously there are spoilers in this thread so you can download the game here https://www.deltarune.com/ and come back once you finished

I really liked the new combat and the characters were alright. The ending though was extremely predictable and pretty weak.

It's basically a walking simulator. The ending is weak, yeah, and nothing you do can influence it at all. Hated the supporting cast, thank god for the x button to skip all of their inane bullshit. Probably not going to buy this one if the full game is more of the same.

compared to the last one: music didn't feel as compelling and didn't really affect my emotions. fighting was boring. pacifist in general didn't feel as "hey i did something" as the last one. puzzles literally didn't exist. as Nimi said, supporting cast felt horrible compared to the ones in Undertale. Atmosphere in general just didn't feel as effective or passionate as the last one. The only near effort I actually put into the game was for about 5 minutes when fighting the secret-ish boss.

Also just because the game says "your actions dont matter" in a game where actions should 100% matter, doesn't justify anything.

here is a tweet from toby fox talking about deltarune: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sqn3p9

To be fair, for a demo this was ok. i didn't expect a full fledged game nor an extremely detailed story or characters.

However, i don't say that the finished product will be a masterpiece. Toby will have to make a lot of adjustmets to the new combat system (wich to be fair looked interesting), as well as giving characters more substance. but looking at the bare bones of it, the game looks promising.
