Queen Whitelist.

It's not a secret that a bald queen and a decent or above queen can entirely change the outcome of a round, I have seen lots of players complaining when their queen turns out to be a baldie, saying the role should be whitelisted and such. However, I haven't seen any discussion of it in here, So it would be good to talk it out, The pros and cons of whitelisting the queen role. What do you think about it?

The big downside I see is that a Queen is necessary to the function of a round, while the other whitelisted roles (synths, commanders, preds) are not. If you're in a lowpop time and nobody is whitelisted on Queen, Xenos can't do shit.

Hmmm. The only con I could think of would be the potential of a lack of a queen in case the original dies. Since whitelisting is rare.

Anything that makes it harder to accidentally become a queen is a blessing.

But yeah, if roundstart queen was whitelisted (and very easy to join the list) I'd be well happy, everything after that should just be drone evos can be queen without a whitelist

No. The Queen role is too essential for round progression. While the marine team can function without a CO, you simply cannot have the alien team without a Queen.

This also ties into the discussion of why whitelists exist. Do we want to whitelist roles just because they require a high degree of skill or competence?

I see it as an uncessary change that would be a pain to implement for very little gain, if any.

This. So essentially, unless it's some kind of VERY easy to get whitelist so enough people get it. And maybe keep the ability for staff to make a queen. Then it could work I guess, but it'd defeat the point of a whitelist.

I don't think a queen whitelist works. A bald queen may ruin a hive, but the xenos can mutiny and try to get a better fitted queen to take over. Though for a CO whitelist you cant really mutiny as easily at the start of a round if the CO seems incompetent.

I personally like the idea of a whitelist, but for xenos they require a Queen for anything to happen in the round.
