I'd like this better if you could set a xeno nickname in character settings instead of just displaying your ckey. Ckey is kind of OOC.

The problem is most xenos only listen to the queen when it suits them to do so. I remember one round I was queen and we lost ALL our T3s because they decided to charge into battle, ignored me telling them to get out of the fight because the marines were pushing into the hive, and then got completely cut off and killed. I've also seen rounds where the queen explicitly states "no Lurkers/ravagers without my approval" and people still ninja evolved to Ravagers. The main reason why marines have as good teamplay as they do is because trying to go alone generally gets them killed or captured, which means they sit the rest of the game out. If a beno player goes off alone/ignored the Queen and dies, there's no penalty for them since they have the same timer as anyone else and can respawn if there's burrowed larva left. Maybe having the Queen able to mark a beno as "defective" or a "deviant" when it comes to the hive's needs, which reduces the likelyhood of that player getting a new larva to play as, would encourage xenos to play smart instead of spamming only one caste or ignoring everyone else.
AFAIK Admins are being harsher on benos who disobey the queen as it started to become a problem lately. All the queen should do is devolve and tell admins. Dense ayyys will learn you DONT have free will.

Back on subject, I'm down for having Ckeys next to the alien numbers, i'd follow Symb or Sailor to the ends of earth. It also helps recognize each other, sometimes i end up mixing up fellow t2's or t3's because im not that good with numbers or i was just too focused in the heat of battle to actually check the number of that xeno who seemed semi-robust.

Good stuff. Just add a personalisable nick only benos sees.

Xenos are supposed to be faceless killers. Allowing them to have nicknames gives them character and trait, something they should absolutely not have. I don't want to see a Young Runner 320 (King Darkness Killer) rolling around out on the battlefield. It would be cringy as fuck and take away from the faceless killer aspect of the xeno.

Simply seeing Elite Lurker (Johnny_027) in the hive status is much less immersion breaking than seeing Young Runner 320 (King Darkness Killer) every time they say something in the chat.

Being faceless killer is not fun. Good thing that only I cringe when I see xenos spinning like toys for retards. It's so immersive to see a xeno behind heavy reinforced glass who spins so fast that he crates atmos winds sucking everything, even at RP.

RP is the last thing that should concern xenos. It's not like somebody plays/main xeno for RP opportunities. Being xenos is like being greytide without rules to obey. Bald head, random name, two pieces of coal instead of eyes and urge to open every door and kill anything that does not look like him. Just add toolbox to their sprites for some special day like they have santa's hats for christmass.

Hm, what if only especially powerful xenos recieve names automatically?

Such as ancient castes that performed execeptionally well getting a name from the Queen, for instance, and the Queen can decide what that name is.

Also maybe have it so the queens can name themselves among the xeno hive, but the marines can't see the name?

I dont care about nicknames or anything like that. I want a way to identify each other between rounds. I dont care about the roleplay aspect of it or anything. It could be totally OOC and I would be happy.

I didn't say it should be in chat instead of the hive status.

I would like something like this or something like how the Queen gets a name thats similar to a xenomorph prime Queens name from the comics or some shit. Similar to how preds have their names. But it should only be given to the QUEEN and not any other xeno. I feel like it would just be a cool little addition.

TBH, xenos are supposed to be highly intelligent. If they can't see that something as simple as naming identical individuals is smart, they deserve to be exterminated. After all, da queen and other benos frequently mix up names just because the darn numbers can be similar as heck. Xenos aren't even supposed to have numbers, but trying to adress a certain xeno with our flimsy hivemind system is kinda obnoxious. Sides, some xenos barely listen unless you explicitly call their caste, have your eye on them, and say their number.

It's fun because i end up listening to stuff that isn't even directed to me, like

"FUCKING RETARDED SPITTER" And it just ends up leading up to this akward situation of "FUCK OFF, WHAT NOW" "NOT YOU RETARD, THE OTHER SPITTER"

I could really like to have a way to recognize each other aside of numbers that i mix up way too often. Hell, Even having 4 Letter nicknames like mining GPS would really change things up a bit

Played a round of Queen earlier today. Felt like I did an okay job. Something bugged me though, the other Xenos kept looking to me for direction. But as I studied the map, and tried to assess where the marines were. But usually when I had come up with some ideas. The moment had passed and 20 other things had happened. What I ended up doing was just ensuring individual Xenos knew where the fight was and coordinating the drones/hivelords on fortifications and weeding. But really, it was the Xeno mains that were doing all the major tactical plays and calls. I felt like in the end we only won just because I had some decent Xeno mains playing. Not because I was a good leader.

My point is. Just how much leadership is to be expected from the Queen herself? Is it a similar deal to how the USCM Command staff coordinate their efforts?

Think of the queen as an SO. While she's not needed to call literally every shots like the XO or CO would, your squad (or xeno in this case), looks up to you for your direction. Where's the fight? What's needed? What do we do? Where do we go? Do you need me here or there? Do you want me to do this or that?

The actual xeno mains know their shit and will happily do their own thing as long as you don't micromanage them too hard, but it's the bald ones (literally most of the xeno hive unless you're lucky) who will rely on you to feed them every single detail, order, suggestion, command.

There will be no point in teamwork as a xeno until you know who you're playing with.

Most xenos aren't reliable enough for you to rely on - and you don't need to rely on them. Ckeys in hivemind is the only way to fix this issue.

I will say it for the 1235th time, Ckeys are not an option, simply because what if you want to change ur character? multikey and catch a perma-ban? if they ever decide to give xenos names, its should be some sort of restrictive nickname system.

okay maybe it's not such a bad idea after all
