I've put this suggestion, adding Ckey into benos Hivemind or names in every suggestion topic, xeno improvement, what xenos need and how to improve xenos topic. But, it still gets ignored and brushed over. If any of you haas a github account please post it there and everyone give it a thumbs up. I think that's the only was we're getting it.

Agreed using the ckey is a big no-no for me. We have already too bad RP among xenos, screaming skreees and lol around. Some people might just scream the ckey and some are pretty immersion breaking or just too childish...

I mean imagine if someone would be named x31stOverlord. Retarded right!?

Nah jokes aside I am in favor of a new tab in the character setup "Xenomorph number". Would use RNG if multiple people wants the same number.

Or the same case with just nicknames wuth a rule telling not to write bs or long stuff

I honestly think xeno RP would improve if we have some form of identification. People would see Mature Runner (kastion/402/slash/whatever) being a fucking dickhead meming and stupid shit that doesn't belong and we would start chastising them because we know they do it every time. Queens could be like stfu or report it.

Its just like the internet, being anonymous turns people into total assholes. Xenos are total assholes because they are anonymous.

Then fuck it; numbers, specific nicknames. You can always keep your ckey anonymous (hence the "optional" part) if you're worried about that.

As I said, why not a new tab in your characyer creation "Xeno nickname" coupled with a xeno naming rule and a randomized name generator in case you didn't specify?

If someone names himself XxSlasherofDeathxX just act like it was a marine with a retarded name. (Dunno staff procedures about that one, but just appky similar.)

like i said allow xenos to pick a nickname that is a verb or a noun that is 1 word but not a proper noun (a name like bob). Then you cant really meme anything cause its 1 word. If someone breaks the rule then the admins tell them to change it like they do marine names. Not hard.

personally my favorite argument for ckey/nicknamed xenos, which includes forcing people to have a ckey or nickname or something, puts the person under a reputation standard. i forgot the exact term for this, but often if someone is hiding behind anonymity, they won't care what other people think of them, because it won't stick. nobody will remember who faceless young runner 393 is after they suicided because they don't know the ckey of who did it, so the person has little to no consequences of playing like shit, because their reputation just resets every round.

there's plenty of real world examples of how hiding behind anonymity can affect one's personality, such as rioters. acting in a group and behind a mask leads people to do things they normally would never do under their actual personality.

tl;dr, holding people's gameplay to an actual reputation and face would lead them to play better and not act mindless and dumb every single round, or at least try to.

people are also total dicks behind anonymity. most people wont talk crap in real life but everyone does on the internet.

I have had the hunch for a long time that salty marines that die take a runner and suicide to screw the aliens over. Young runners dying constantly makes no sense.

That's a common argument against giving xenos names, "Im worried that I will get treated badly or not get to evolve because only robust players will get to evolve", something to that effect. Honestly I know I don't speak for everyone, but I would treat certain players better than others. Not what you think though, I wouldn't give evolution priority to robust players like most people think. I would treat players who are team players better than everyone else. Ya you aint robust, but you stay with the team and try to save people and fight as a group and things like that? You try to lead other xenos and you report whats going on so I can make good decisions as queen? That's more valuable than a lone lurker going off and killing people on hydro road and never saying anything. A good team player increases team morale like crazy. Every time I see someone saying we have no chance or whatever early in the round when we have 25 aliens makes me face palm cause it just drops morale and makes people give up. Give me an average player that works as a team and does their job every time please.

Folks, we're not asking for xeno to be able to name themselves all they want. Moderation, rules... can be put in place to stop this kind of shit, same as marines. If names are too difficult, fuck it, make it numbers. It's gonna be way harder to identify folks, but anything works at this point. We can have 4 digit numbers for the ones that want their own identity, or letters mixed in with numbers.

A reminder that optional Ckey in Hive Status would be way easier than all of this, but y'all keep denyin.

I just find that any argument people have against xeno usernames usually applies to marines too but marines have usernames. Marines can metabuddy, marines can give favoritism, marines can have stupid names, marines can be memelords, marines can be dicks to each other (avalanche is a total dick to me 24/7 and the staff does nothing about it.). Yet this stuff only matters to xenos.

gitlab doesn't do anything

The reason I made this post is because as long as it remains at the top of the hive forum it will show up every time anyone goes to the forums so all the devs will see it. Gitlab things just get pushed off the front page and ignored. They can never comment on this and ignore it but they will see it for sure and I know they read the first post to see what it was about.
