That is against the rules, my friend. Specifically the very first Xeno rule.

Act like a Xenomorph - You are not a pet or best friends with the marines. Talk like one. It is fine to use words like "medbay" and "shuttle". You can also replace "shuttle" with "metal bird" if you wish. Hivemind is the English translation of a Xeno's thoughts. However, keep it formal and realistic. No talking like a gangster.

Shit like that is why I don't go Hunter anymore.
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

I wish rounds would actually go like this so I could reenact that moment from the movie. Have a squad sent in to scout further into the colony after some initial investigation, maybe into the caves or whatever complex the aliens are nested in. This squad stumbles across the hive and we get great RP with "my god, what is this resin all over the place." Maybe some nested colonists and monkeys around, but nothing else in sight... and then the Xenos bumrush and annhilate the squad. :D

This happens because xenos attract people who like to "meme" and fuck around because there's not a lot of people serious about roleplay who play xeno, and it isn't moderated very well.

Instead of being creepy stalkers picking off lone marines, xenos and marines attack on sight without a chance to play around figuring eachother out.

Like Casany said, marines have developed a meta to shoot on sight precisely because aliens attack, sometimes suicidaly, on sight.

I believe the whole 'attack on sight' thing for the aliens may also come from a misunderstanding of a rule I'm not in agreement with (despite its good nature).

1. Act like a Xenomorph

I think people confuse acting like a Xeno and just killing everything. But then again, the movies didn't really help, with aliens constantly being shown killing and capturing the humans.

And since it seems really constricting for anyone trying to spice things up (approach, but not fight the humans) and doing something NICE to the marines (dragging a body to them. Psy whispering negotiations) is considered an offence. So people just do what is safe, KOS.

You proved your own point wrong.

The movies showed what xenos are, brainless killing machine hellbent on furthering the hive. To play a xenomorph /is/ to be hostile on sight (Even if it's not straight out attacking). Being nice goes against the very nature of the xenomorph, NEGOTIATING is something that you would never see a mindless killing machine do.

Wrong. The Queen Mother has gone as far as to negotiate with humans to save a facehugger/larva and in a twist of fate, the humans (2) that were trying to kill it, were infected (one was)

The Queen /Mother/, who is leagues more intelligent than any of her offspring. Normal xenomorphs and even queens are not capable of negotiations like that.

Don't forget when Ripley threatened to destroy the eggs in Alien 2, XX121 commanded the Warriors to withdraw knowing the consequences if they attacked Ripley.

Sure, they /withdrew/, but they certainly didn't negotiate for the safety and wellbeing of the eggs. They were still going to try to kill ripley.

I assume you refer to "This ability to interact and even "negotiate" with a human implies significant and advanced intellect."

"ordered her Warriors to back off when Ellen Ripley threatened to destroy her Eggs." What Ripley did.

"And since it seems really constricting for anyone trying to spice things up (approach, but not fight the humans) and doing something NICE to the marines (dragging a body to them. Psy whispering negotiations) is considered an offence. So people just do what is safe, KOS."

What you mentioned earlier.

Yes, perhaps in that instance there was /technically/ a negotiation, but it was hardly what you were suggesting be allowed. The queen was most certainly not being nice to Ripley as you seem to imply, and this CERTAINLY does not justify xenos being "nice" to marines (dragging bodies to them, psy whispering negotiations?). There was no dialogue beyond "If you attack me, I'm going to inflict heavy casualties amongst your young."

I was just saying Queens have this ability in the actual, I wasn't implying that this would flat out mean it's possible or should be allowed to be done in game.

I see your point in all this, Kirch. But I guess I just really like the idea of the Xenos being smarter than they were portrayed in the movies? I dunno, I just love politics.

They are smart, at least the queen is and all of her subordinates listen to her. But they're not civil in any sense.
