Runners; the waster of future Crushers and Ravagers, and how you can be of service.

Post by Crab_Spider » 13 Oct 2016, 09:13

Hello, I'm Jonathan Rhodes, the MP who complains about pointless shit when he can clearly do something else. Little do you know; I regularly chose to play as a xeno and go runner throughout my life, and y'know how I live so long? By just stalking the retards who seem to think it's pure skill to survive an ambush (I'll give them a hint; common, what's available to the average person. Sense, your ability to identify a situation. Together it's common sense, an ability I should not have to explain) and want to sharpen this "skill", or lack thereof.

Let's go over the pros and cons of Runners;

Pros
  • The fastest out of any of other caste, when fully evolved.
  • Can hide under anything (protip; this will not work for everyone, so expect to be killed when on sulaco metal bird and use your tail to dispatch a host who might alert the others. If they fall over, run somewhere where they cant be found.)
  • Can be used for scouting
  • Provide the best support for carriers, sentinels, praetorians, spitters, boilers, drones, and maybe ravagers.
Cons
  • They deal low-medium (medium is at ancient) damage to just about anyone
  • They have very low health (medium is again, at ancient)
  • Basically every evolution of Runner is easy to spot and identify. (protip; hunters, because of your recent recoloring, your camouflage ability is of little use. Hunt with sentinels)
  • Once they get in the vents, they won't last nearly as long as a crusher

"Can I work around this and how?"

Why yes, you can. If you rely on quick kills and need to surprise foe, get out of plain sight, dont fucking move, and hurt Sulaco where it hurts the most; they're doctors! Slash those weaponless pieces of shits to oblivian and consume (bring them to a secret area) , then they'll fall like the Queen after a failed assault. Once this is done, go to the hangar and kill the Researcher before he alerts the other hosts, then, slash his apc. Great! Now you meta killed the entire ship with a poorly thought out plan made by someone whose never tried this (make mama proud little larvae!)
You will never be as bad as the baldie who picked up a tactical shotgun while a hunter was pouncing on top of a CMO for 4 seconds, with his only response being to pace around before being decap'd by said hunter. You are not Brett Kimple, and you never will be. You are not the reason why I regular MP.

First of all, I already saw someone that have done what you suggested as an ancient runner... yes it was amazing to watch. Second.. as a runner I prefer to tag along with tier 3... mainly because you lower your chances of dying and also because it fun not being a bullet sponge and just dragging away marines into the darkness.

When I go runner, I try my best to stick to the shadows, scouting out the marines and relaying information back when I can. Runners are some of the better scouts of the game, thanks to their speed and their ability to hide under objects. They aren't great in combat though, but as long as you pick your targets carefully and don't pounce marines in the middle of groups (due to pounce stun), you'll have a longer lifespan than most runners who just blindly charge into fights without taking their time.

Just because you fast dun mean you gotta go fast all the time. Slow down, smell the piss of scared marines and think before you infect.

I usualy end up raiding under Nexus when I play runner, also tend to be alone for the most time, secret to being a good runner is pouncing in next to a marine from shadows, macro dropping huggers, then pounce back out. Or jump in, drop huggers next to two marines, keep running between them, and die because you fell off chair from laughing about how the marines crippled half their squad just trying to shoot you.
If you ever wonder when did I really start hating incompetent people read Crab Spider's signature... I was that CMO.

I know every single weaknes of Sulaco like the back of my hand. I breach that window in the MT tunnel thats nearby it and bring as much attention as possible so they all asphyxiate to death. One body in an airlock will keep it open for a lifetime, and make medbay a morgue. You will have access to the open space and so will some gunmen, but a couple of slashes will puncture the suit, and leave the pressure to kill them. The MPs will listen to anything that alludes to your very presence, go somewhere less populated and immediately take out the cams. ALSO NEVER LOSE THAT HEALTH

You're welcome, and ey! You better not be trying to build on top of this to avoid my master plan of being a shitler.

Isn't intentionally breaching as a xeno against the rules?

Then why is there a welding tank by a glass window?

I highly doubt it was on purpose, though.

Just because a window can easily be broken doesn't mean it should be broken.

Advocating xenos break the meta rules they have is not okay. As a personal aside xenos should lose the ability to vent-crawl if you swallow someone. How do you even fit?

Also, get shot to death by the four medics whining for chems.
