The D Team

Post by Karmac » 12 Jun 2017, 06:17

Since I've chosen Delta as my preferred squads I've noticed nothing ever goes right for the Deltas, one such incident happened to me earlier and afterwards I felt the need to put what happened down in words, because it was just that much fun to experience and I wanted to let everyone know what life is like through the eyes of a Delta Squaddie. I plan on writing down any other Delta rounds that go about as poorly.

First Story - Ice Colony: Multi-Order Pile Up

Alright so we start the round and I quickly notice I'm Delta's only combat engie, we have no SL so the Spec's in charge, we're on Engineering duty and we go down on DS1, form up at the LZ and we take the long way around, going past old T-Comms area and walking into a weeded up Engineering Supplies building to grab supplies there, as we make our way to Engineering we notice practically everything in sight has been weeded, things do not look good. We get to Engineering and yep, it's weeded up too, standard rushed in before I could do anything though and it turned out safe so that was a plus. I start patching up the engines when John 'Spartan' Murry starts screaming bloody murder that he needs help on the West side, I'm not sure what's happening but I'm hearing a lot of gunfire and loads of roaring from god knows what, but I get all the engines repaired while constantly yelling at my squad to die slower and they manage to push back whatever attacked us, I never asked and nobody told me, in fact one guy came along mid-fight to tell me everything's okay and nothing bad is happening, I'm fairly sure Murry died but he was alive again by the time we were ready to move out.

Now this is where shit gets fuck, see while we were fixing the power Charlie squad was busy dying horribly at LZ2 because they're retards or something I guess, so we get an SO tell us to head to LZ2 and retake the position, seconds later it's announced Charlie was wiped at LZ2 and T-Comms right next to us is fending off an attack, so we rush over there. We get there to find three marines and a cargo tug fended off a hivelord and some hunters, god knows what else, we let the Bravo survivors know we're headed to LZ2, they tell us it's certain death, we nod calmly and hop on the elevator, then as we hit the button to go down our XO hops on and tells us to reinforce LZ1 in preparation of an attack, seconds later we hear shooting and screaming outside the elevator and we presume Bravo's dead, our SO contacts us and tells us to continue securing LZ2, and as our elevator reaches ground floor the SO contacts us again informing us he was wrong and we need to backup LZ1, they're getting reamed over there, back up the elevator it is. So we're going back up, I'm still holding my sentry crate and plasteel in both hands, haven't been able to setup defences or anything yet, we reach the top to find more xeno corpses and two heavily wounded Bravo's, no trace of the third but some blood and empty magazines lying around, SO and XO are screaming at us to head to LZ1 but we have to help Bravo real quick so we let them know we'll be late.

Once we're all patched up and ready to go, I even managed to setup my sentry, we hear some worrying news over general comms, the PO's got a crusher bearing down on his cockpit and there's like 3 marines screaming for him to let them inside the ship, then he screams "FUCK THIS" and presumably ditches us all planetside, so we tell command what's going on, they take a couple minutes to realise shit's fucked and LZ1 is lost so our Spec tells me to start turning T-Comms into a fort, I comply. I barely finish setting up a couple defensive lines in that little snowy area infront of T-Comms and blow up the tunnel on our flank when we're noticed by the xenus, we fight them off for a bit and we're doing fine with a full strength squad and 2 Bravo's when a runner gets past our line and slashes up one of the Bravo's a little, we kill it and patch him up but he's had enough, he starts arguing that we should leave for LZ2, majority of the squad wants to hold so we ignore him and keep fighting. Eventually though Command gets back to us informing us that we should fall back to LZ2, the squad's morale wanes a bit as we take a couple more wounded during the fight, and then the CO gets on the line telling us to leggit to LZ2, they're organising for us to be evacced as soon as possible, this pushes the squad over the edge, so half the squad leaves with the Bravo's to make it to evac and the other half stays behind with our Spec to buy some time.

Our Spec tries to get everyone to slowly fall back to the centre of T-Comms because we were eventually gonna have to leggit down the elevator, we didn't have nearly enough ammo to finish off the xenos and we were taking wounded on quickly, but nobody heard him over the gunfire, so when I pulled back the sentry and the spec and another rine ditched the frontlines to fall back like we planned, we lost 8 men as the primary area was overrun by an inordinate number of hunters, runners and a couple Ravs, one of the doomed marines suddenly realises he should probably leave though and opens up the false wall into our fallback line and dies horribly, letting in at least 4 xenos that kill our spec and overrun the sentry, so I grab the spec's corpse and start legging it over to the elevator, it's not back up yet so the one other marine with me that survived asks me what we're supposed to do. Dragging a dead corpse, low on ammo, lacking any kind of supplies and missing my only sentry gun I tell him the only plan I have left, "We hide", and I begin pulling up the plasteel cades blocking the north-west hidey hole and we walk in there, still dragging our dead spec. We get a couple moments of peace before power runs out and the Xenos notice us, I didn't have time to replant the cades so they just walked in and straight up merc'd the two of us but not before we put up a fight and put a hunter and ravager into crit. Later on I found out that first group that left actually did make it to LZ2 unharmed because we had the xenos distracted and that made me feel alot better about the whole thing. But yeah, don't get your orders mixed up kiddos or things won't go well for the 'rines following them.

-1 Look at accepted stories and look back at yours.

On a more serious note, you're as unlucky with mechanics as i am with rng.

Trust me, that's MAJOR unlucky.

>two rounds in a row as delta squad
>both rounds CO tells them to rush lambda labs
>we all know whats going to happen
>we enjoy the small bit of RP we get before we all get decimated

playing delta is enjoyable for the small bits of meme rp it gives

I have been a Delta main since it was introduced. Really the reason was I like the color blue but my experiences have been really good at times.
