Predator Rule Clarification

Post by Emeraldblood » 08 Dec 2018, 20:01

Elder/Event permission in-round can overrule most of what is said here at their own discretion.

If you have anything you'd like to be clarified, ask the Yautja Council and it will be updated here.

Throwing Back Prey
  1. This is to be reserved for prey that was weak, rather than strong. You dishonor them if you do not take them as a trophy if they put up a good fight.
  2. For the weak, it makes sense to throw them back so that they may become worthier later.
  3. This also applies to honor duels.
Honor Duels
  1. Duels should be reserved for matters of high honor. Should there be questioning of if it should be done, best not to do it.
  2. There is also a key difference between isolating your prey for a one-on-one hunt and dueling them.
  3. At all times, dueling on the ship should have a second pred observing.
The Ship
  1. Humans/xenos should only be brought to the ship if the majority of hunters agree. If there is a tie, it's up to the hunters to settle it however they wish.
  2. For dueling areas and bloodsports, the lodge is the way to go.
  3. Never bring humans/xenos to the ship without another predator present to assist you.
The Lodge
  1. Lodging is NOT mandatory.
  2. It is recommended to not hunt right away and instead RP with survivors, gather materials, or find some other way to amuse yourself.
  3. The ideal time to lodge is after the marines have initially scouted the colony - they will not have the manpower to launch a full-scale offensive and fight the xenomorphs at the same time. If they do it anyway, they can be easily defeated.
The Hunt
  1. Immediately engaging the marines is unwise and will lead to them hunting you quickly.
  2. It is recommended to build up tension first - clicking, moving through shadows, etcetera. It is unwise to place yourself into a situation where you will be forced to break the tension. One of the key tricks of horror is that the more you see of a monster, the less scary it becomes. Keep this in mind when hunting and building atmosphere.
Wounded Brothers
  1. If you find a wounded predator after they fought well and have almost succumbed to their wounds, do not treat them via the ship's surgery room.
  2. Injecting a crystal into them is acceptable.
  3. If they are too weak to continue fighting and a crystal cannot help, they should succumb to their wounds.
  4. Predators are unable to have surgery to repair broken bones/internal damage unless they end their hunt first.
Miscellaneous
  1. If you haven't upgraded your bracer with the proper translator level, you cannot understand humans or xenomorphs ICly (even though gameplay wise, you can).
  2. A level 1 bracer upgrade is required for humans and a level 2 bracer upgrade is required for xenomorphs.
  3. This also applies if you lose your bracer where you previously had a translator.
  4. hunters should not be using any other ranged weapon but their own predator weapons. No shooting human guns/grenades/mortars/tanks/claymores/turrets/anything else at all ever (Using an unloaded gun with its safety on as a melee weapon is however fine)
Powergaming
  • Taking two masks or more as a predator just in-case you have one get knocked off mid-combat.
  • While Predaliens have no direct rules apply to their hunt, use of Cloak and Self-Destruct to kill one at the same time is forbidden. You may cloak to one but may not cloak with your SD active to try to kill it. This also includes uncloaking to prime SD and immediately cloaking again. This rule will soon be replaced with an IC limiter for this.
Slaves/Apprentices/Gladiators
  • Slaves/Gladiators/Apprentices are allowed to be taken from humans IF they prove themselves to be worth the effort. You shouldn’t be taking humans as anything unless they prove themselves to be exceptional e.g one survivor holds off the entire hive for an exceptionally long time, one marine single-handedly takes out multiple xenomorphs simultaneously.
Weapon Clarifications
This section is devoted to how weapons are classified even if it’s very self-explanatory
  • Clan Sword: Melee Weapon (Worthy)
  • Warglaive: Melee Weapon (Worthy)
  • War scythe: Melee Weapon (Worthy)
  • Chain Whip: Melee Weapon (Worthy)
  • Combi-Stick: Thrown/Melee Weapon (Worthy)
  • Wrist Weapon: Melee Weapon (Worthy)
  • Dagger: Melee Weapon (Worthy)
  • Plasma Caster: Ranged Weapon (Unworthy)
  • Plasma Pistol: Ranged Weapon (Unworthy)
  • Plasma Rifle: Ranged Weapon (Unworthy)
  • Spike Launcher: Ranged Weapon (Unworthy)
  • Harpoon: Thrown Weapon (Worthy)
  • Hunting Trap: Disabler (Dishonorable)
  • Smartdisk: Ranged Weapon (Unworthy)
  • Some weapons can be used outside of their classification for example if you decide to test a worthy marine by telling him to shoot down a smartdisk in a controlled environment.
  • The Smart disk is considered a "Worthy" weapon if there is more than one enemy attacking you.
Note: This page is a look over and edit of some of the rules and clarifications noted down by Frankie Day during his Q&A with /n, so @ Frankie on discord and say something nice about him.
Ban Appeal Users: If I've lifted your perma ban and you're still unable to log onto the server, send me a forum PM regarding it and I'll work to get it fixed in ~24 hours.

Emerald Blood: CM's mommy and the only head staff who does anything. Even though I hate you all sometimes, I still love you.
