Alright, so.. I've talked about this, in our meeting. Though there hasn't been much feedback on this issue. And yes, i do consider it an issue ... Many may think it's not, like it's just a fun shootout server with aliens for shits and giggles. But we based this off the concept of Colonial Marines in SS13, WITH actual roleplay going on. Which sets us apart from previous iterations of these servers. We're not just a free ticket to a different looking griefstation.

Looking back over at our discussion now... Apophis says we're following everything from the first alien movie to Aliens. Nothing from Alien 3 or after. We also following A:CM and colonial marine comics/novels. The year we're in is 2150, which means we're 29 years before the events of Aliens.

And more stuff which Apophis mentioned:

Here's out lore:
1. The Ship is the NMV Sulaco of the USCM
2. The station is the NSS Nostromo - A scientific Station
3. Our weapons, are all Aliens themed weapon names
4. Our gear, is aliens themed gear names
5. W-Y is a company, that is out there, as an antag/occasional assistant

Now, the ship we have is designated NMV which would mean NanoTrasen Military Vessel. NT is, from what i gather, the company in our server that works for WY. A subsidiary/contract filler for them. And it makes sense that WY involves itself sometimes if issues occur, since they technically own NT and in turn the ship. The Nostromo however, was a starfreighter that was destroyed in a self-destruct in 2122. Should we assume that the science station was simply named after it in honor of it? In any case it wouldn't make sense. WY covered up the Nostromo incident, and deleted all mission files related to that name.

Unless, we are following a completely alternate SS13 version of that lore. Which it looks like.. And makes more sense. The Nostromo then just being a nice sounding name for the station, though Rahlzel has suggested before of adding randomly generated names for the station, maybe for when we get more than a single gamemode ... It would be differently named stations, but same layouts (unless we get new maps) .. We could have pre-spawned papers and items and bloody scenes and corpses to differentiate the stories when the marines come.

To avoid confusion, can we all just agree that we're LOOSELY based on Alien universe and not frantically following it, but we're taking the main concept of the USCMC. Who have been involved in many other things ... Not just those sources mentioned by Apop. A reason why i also mentioned we needed loremasters, is because .. If we can keep adding stuff to our server, new creatures/items/locations and keep players interested that way we also need to expand the lore. Currently it barely exists, but this is a start. I'll be willing to expand stuff on the wiki with lore .. Which honestly needs it's own subsection.

However i'm curious as to what everyone else has been thinking .. What are your thoughts? Ideas maybe?

I think we out to sack Nanotrasen from the whole story. It would make a lot more sense to replace them with Colonial Marine central command. Weyland Yutani can still control CM Centcom, but it would be more akin to the relationship in Aliens and in the Aliens vs Predator (2010) game than that between a corporation (WY) and its subsidiary (NT).

The only thing tying us to the SS13 fluff is the use of Boxstation as the combat zone. Abby's ground map will be severing that link.


Following the release of Alpha, I think we should follow Aliens lore fairly closely. In a sense, we shouldn't overwrite anything, but we shouldn't be afraid to expand the lore to fit our needs.

NT should be fully removed and replaced with W-Y as much as possible.

Also, SAS said spiders aren't lorefriendly. Even though we had that, along with other regular SS13 universe things a lot like changelings and cult etc ... Are we excluding these things from possible lore ? Or what..

I'm working on a workup of the lore, and a "date" that this takes place.

I'm also working on a timeline for our universe.

I think everything date wise should be kept ambiguous so that we can't be pinned to certain things in the aliens timeline. Everything else though should be fair game.
