Stobarico's Commander Application

Post by stobarico » 11 Dec 2016, 12:18

Byond ID: Stobarico

Player name you use the most: Sergio Stone

Make a list of links to all of your applications and (job)ban appeals, including whitelist and staff apps, within the last year. Also, provide "Ban reason; Verdict" beside each (job)ban link:

Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines?
I do

Why should you be whitelisted?

Most people would say Sergio is a competent commander, and i indeed do my best to always "Complete the Mission", that could involve fighting the aliens with my smartgun once they board, demote the cargo team for denying attatchments to the marines, executing mutineers and make them an exemple, or even doing cargo things with my own hands if they are buzy or too slow. Lately i've been trying to do a bit more of RP, updating my flavour text, and i've been thinking on updating his backstory aswell. Also, i've never been banned, mainly because before i do anything too drastic, i usually ask the staff. Anyway it isn't in my place to judge if i deserve this position, so, here we go, voting is open!

I can say from firsthand experience that Sergio's one of the most experienced command players out there at the moment. I definitely trust you with this role, since it's basically been yours for over a year. You have my vote.

I only got one good question for you...

The FoB is under heavy attack and the marines are wavering from the stress of holding off the swarm. What do you do to boost the fighting spirit of marines?

Quickly elaborate a very inspiring speech, if that doesn't work, well... pull them back to Sulaco and get ready to grab my smartgun and launch the distress beacon once the boarding alarm beeps

While I am not one to judge leadership styles, I'm afraid to say that your reply is WRONG.. At least to me.

While a speech is always nice to have, there is more to it than that. You gotta rally marines down to the hanger and reinforce the FoB ASAP, as well as try to funnel in supplies as quickly as you can. A speech alone will do little to inspire men, you need to back it up with actions. Nothing inspires hope more than the idea that more help is on the way.

As well, the commander too eager to call a distress and don the smartgun is a common flaw a lot of commanders have. I grow tired of this delusion that hanger/Sully defenses are the secret to success, and that if everyone just spams enough grenades into the hanger, you could rip victory from the grasp of defeat... Until you realize that 80% of the time, this is just a waste of time and manpower. As well, distress beacons are something I hate to deal with, because they are always a gamble. being reliant on them is bound to screw you over at some point.

Stobarico is a familiar name to me, and I believe I've seen him competently play the position of squad leader multiple times. While his answer to the question above is subjective, I don't believe it is wrong, in that any and all playstyles are appreciated for commanders, as long as they contribute to the round.

Oh sorry, i maybe have misunderstood the context, i thought in that scenario the FUBAR situation, medbay full and no reinforcments avaliable. In that case I would diverge all squads to the FoB, trying to supply them with anything the SL's ask for to command, or even the marines on their squad channel.

Here's your feedback.

I saw you while observing yelling at a MP as the XO because the MP arrested someone for shooting monkeys with incinerator slugs. As someone who plays or at least played in the recent past as a MP a lot, it's disheartening to be yelled at by the command staff for trying to attempt to stop the marines from doing dumb shit like wasting special ammo.
I don't have many other experiences with you, so based on that and what Renomaki said, I went with the no vote.

I didn't yell at the MP, i actually just looked at the situation and didn't do anything, as i was trying to find the Alpha's SL that was drunk the entire round and didn't do anything
The only thing i actually said was when the MP asked what was going on, i answered: "LCDR Sergio Stone [Sulaco (XO)] says, "Don't ask me"" since i joined late on the round
I was also interested on the CMB revolver laying on the ground, sue me.

Don't trust me? Don't worry, i haven't closed my SS13, here are the prints: http://imgur.com/a/5ELJ2
