Westhybrid's Commander Application

Post by Westhybrid » 12 Dec 2016, 07:42

Byond ID: WestHybrid

Player name you use the most: Darius Ico

Make a list of links to all of your applications and (job)ban appeals, including whitelist and staff apps, within the last year. Also, provide "Ban reason; Verdict" beside each (job)ban link:
  • Staff Application older than one year, circa October 2015
Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines?

Yes.

Why should you be whitelisted?

As a member of the Staff and a Game Admin I'm very familiar with the server rules and the ins and outs of the Commander role. Throughout my time here I've familiarized myself with the role throughout all of its changes and haven't had any complaints or issues when I've played CO. I'm very communicative and know how to keep the game in motion without damaging the experience for other players, marine and xeno alike. It's my second-most played role falling behind Squad Leader, and I'm very familiar with what is required of playing Commander at this point. Can't always promise a refreshing and unique experience but I can promise you won't be retching the round because of the leadership.

Let's say the marines are attacking the river (no metarush in this case) and they are starting to lose and the aliens somehow push them to whatever the FOB is and start to attack them enmasse and you order an ERT and it is the iron bears. What do you do?

Also West, you cant vote for yourself, or vote at all in your own app/

Divert three to six marines depending on what numbers are available to the front at Hydroponics, send the rest to reinforce the FOB, laying whatever explosive ordinance down as they go. As the Xeno's push, gradually allow them to do so. Assuming the Ern Burrs are hostile, which in all likelihood they could be, order Medical to lock down what it can and send wounded in through Research and cloning, have Engineering do the same. Lock down the Bridge with what marines are readily available including Bridge staff, send the rest of the marines directly down to the planet. Of the two fronts that are more dangerous, I'm not about to let the Xenos sneak up while I'm distracted with the Cheeki's and Breeki's. If the Bridge has to fall to ensure that the marines on the ground are adequately armed and have sufficient numbers, then that's the action to take.

Also RIP my b.

You encounter a scenario where there is almost insurmountable challenge while commanding but promised earlier to restrict yourself from using valuable intel. The marines are doing poorly and failing. Do you use the intel you previously proclaimed you would not use or would you continue to try in vain while losing troops and morale?

I might give you my vote, if you prove to me you got balls.

As a marine, I hate it when command is quick to give up during battles for the planet, let alone vital LZs that could spell the end for the marines if lost. I had so many frustrating moments where, instead of simply sending more troops, they recall all their field forces and just give the planet to the aliens, crushing all hope for victory in the process and encouraging cowardly tactics like camping the Sully and large scale retreats over petty things.

I don't care of all the marines die horribly defending the FoB, as long as they do it with dignity and honor, fighting to the last breath and spitting into the face of xenos one last time before their brave hearts stop beating. Bravery in the face of death must be encouraged more, and a CO that can do that will get my vote.

I'm not typically in favor of recalling the entire marine team unless things are absolutely beyond repair, but I'm also not opposed to shifting positions on the planet itself. LZ's getting hammered? Send a detachment to secure a new FOB and possibly flank. Pod location is fucked? Abandon it and send all other forces to LZ1. My moves aren't cowardly but I'm not always in favor of brunt force getting the job done unless I know it'll actually do the trick.

I'm not sure I understand the question. I don't see any reason to tie one hand behind my back when lives are at stake, if that's what you're asking.

Alpha Squad has nine apples and Bravo Squad has eight apples. Charlie takes four of Alpha's and Delta takes half of Bravo's. How many apples are there?

I'm glad you would never be blind to the needs of your marines. ;)

But also, a good response to a bit of a joke question.
