Jay Burns commander App

Post by Jay Burns » 12 Dec 2016, 17:55

Byond ID:Jay Burns

Player name you use the most: Jay 'Scalpel' Burns

Make a list of links to all of your applications and (job)ban appeals, including whitelist and staff apps, within the last year. Also, provide "Ban reason; Verdict" beside each (job)ban link:

Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines?

Yes.

Why should you be whitelisted?

I would like to think im a pretty decent commander, also i would like to make an interesting marine character who is not your average "Kill all xeno scum" Commander, I would like to play a certain character, Amwolf 'Franz' Willhelm, he would be a strict german commander which would install fear in the troops he commands, he crushes any insurrections with an iron fist and will complete the mission at maximum efficiency not caring about the human costs, (Imagine Bill Carson but german).

Just some questions for you, burnsy.

1: One of your SLs is ignoring your order to retreat or attack, believing that the opposite action would be better and that they have a clearer view of the ground situation than you. What do?

2: The game has reached a point where the ayys are too weak to come aboard, but strong enough that the marines feel they'll be slaughtered if they try to launch a counterattack and retake the ground. What do you do, and how?

3: A group of marines have publicly questioned your command position and you fear a mutiny is brewing, but at the moment nothing has formed. How do you defuse the situation?

1) I would try and communicate with the SL, if he comes with a better plan of attack or tells me new information that contradicts my orders, then i will allow him to do so, but if he does not respond i will send an MP squad down to retrieve him.

2)Keep the men at the FOB while people are healed/cloned on the sulaco, if I have an XO I might head down to the surface to give a morale boost/keep things orderly, after a while I would mount an assault on the Xenos.

3)make the MPs patrol the ship and make an example of those men, either by lashings or imprisonment, even the thought of mutiny is treasonous!

Answer 1 I like, good shit there.
Answer 2, not so much. It's my opinion the CO should not head down to the planet, as if you end up getting killed then that's a huge morale loss on your team, also dropping the position of power on the XO who you cannot be sure will be able to pick up where you left off.
Answer 3, responding to concerns with beatings is just going to make those involved even more likely to mutiny. Fear only works as an intimidation factor when you're not helplessly outnumbered and outgunned.

That being said, I have taken into account the type of CO you intend to play and the harshness is expected. +1 from me, but avoid going down to the ground in most cases.

So, if I am reading this correctly, you are going to be a leader that rarely retreats and fights to the bitter end, yes?

Welp, you got my vote.

I hate COs who pee themselves at the slightest bit of challenge, lets have COs that aren't afraid to build walls out of the bodies of fallen marines and make people fight to the death like proper marines should.
