RadiantFlash's Commander Application.

Post by RadiantFlash » 01 Jan 2017, 16:19

Byond ID: RadiantFlash

Player name you use the most: Axel Strife

Make a list of links to all of your applications and (job)ban appeals, including whitelist and staff apps, within the last year. Also, provide "Ban reason; Verdict" beside each (job)ban link:
  • I've never actually had to make an application for anything here.
Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines?
I do.
Why should you be whitelisted?
I'm a long time player, and have played all command staff roles many times in the past. Though, I haven't played CO recently, sticking more to marine roles/executive officer.
I'm also a responsible player for the most part, only having a few notes on any server, and I'm very acquainted with the rules, though perhaps not as much as other staff as I don't enforce them as a mentor.
I think I'm good enough at roleplay to be able to suit the role, and lead the marines. At the very least, I'm reliable to not outright suck at the job, and knowladgable enough to keep the round moving smoothly.

Solid mentor, solid player.

However, some questions!

1: The Marine team has been taking some large hits, but as far as you know things are fine-ish. You give the order to press onward, but one SL is insistent that they have a clearer view of the ground situation and it's a complete disaster, saying that continuing to hold would be suicidal. How do you proceed?

2: A mutiny is brewing. People have called for your displacement, though you do not know exactly who might be staffing this mutiny. How do you defuse the situation?

While it's possible I'm miss judging the situation on ground, It's unlikely. To be sure, I'd have a head count taken from the bridge personnel on all active marines planetside. Assuming they have the apropriate amount of marines, I'd explain them the number advantage, and have them press on. If I'm wrong, They'll have orders to hold the FOB, and if things get worse, the rasputin will be on standby planetside for emergency evacuation in the case of the marines being over-run.

Ask why a mutiny is being called for first of all. If it's a reasonable reason, and I've truly fucked up, I'll consider passing on command to the executive officer.
Now if it's just a few idiots shouting mutiny unjustly, I'll have the MP's to detain them, and handle them apropriately.

On May 17, 2016, a group of farmers dug up the diary of an ear of corn named Watson. Here are his entries.

Day 76:
They took Lawrence, dear god Lawrence... They ripped him off the stalk and smeared him in butter, just like Tyler and Jodie. They shipped him off to the popcorn factory...
I wonder what his wife will say.

Day 120: My brother says the VEGANS are protesting for more anti-meat bullshit. They want more of us to die. FUCKING HEATHENS.

Day 153: The ants are eating me from the inside out. They are popping out my kernels and taking them back to the nest. I feel them moving inside me. Julia says the pesticides will end our misery.

Day 300: Sweet Release. I can hear the planes flying over now. They are dropping the gas, it feels so good, sweet release-

If you need more experience as CO, just play as an XO. It is pretty much the same thing, but with less style.

To me, a good CO is one that can instill confidence in marines and keep them fighting when things get bad, who is willing to put in extra work to get shit done on the ship when times are urgent, and in general understand how valuable his life is. To lose the CO would (or at least should) cause considerable morale shock for marines, and thus should not throw his life needlessly away.

I'm not the best CO out there, but when I roll CO, I work very hard to be the best leader I can be, despite all the insults that is flung my way. Will you?

I'd agree with 2 out of three of your points there. While I think the CO's life is valuable from a tactical standpoint, the everyday marine from the server, prrrroobably won't even realize the CO is dead until theirs no orders from them, and really won't be demoralized. That said, if everymarine acted realistically on he server, Yeah. The CO really shouldn't be that risky with his life.

I will admit, In the past in leading roles, be it XO, or CO, or SL, I used to be a tad reckless with my life. But I've learned from that a while ago, and am usually one of the last squad leaders living, regardless of victory or failure.
