Brett Tedrow - Commander Application

Post by Swagile » 03 Jul 2017, 21:18

Byond ID: Swagile

Player name you use the most: Brett Tedrow (Currently)

Make a list of links to all of your applications and (job)ban appeals, including whitelist and staff apps, within the last year. Also, provide "Ban reason; Verdict" beside each (job)ban link: Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines?

Yes.

Why should you be whitelisted?

I wish to be whitelisted because I want to expand upon a unused part of being a Commander; the roleplay of it. I understand a lot of players want a CO who will lead them to victory, the sought for Marine Major; but not many stop to talk to the CL, or help authorize a construction project for MT's. Maybe the Researcher found out a way to weaponize pepperspray and wants to talk to the CO? The CO has a lot of power on the ship, and that includes spicing up the roleplay ON the ship instead of just focusing on all the xeno scum being eradicated by the marines on the planet.

Im pretty sure this is a unpopular opinion, and I have seen it in action when I play CMP, CL, and XO and people get very aggressive about roleplay. Recent examples of interesting roleplay scenarios that aren't being fully made use of and even aggressively shunned by Marines to the point of violence is RO's doing paperwork, CL attempting to get Command to sign dubious contracts, and CMP's / MP's enforcing proper military conduct laws such as holstering your weapon. I would like to bring more of these opportunities to light using the power of the CO role to spice up what goes on both on the ship and on the planet.

If you have any questions, concerns, etc. please ask. My first whitelist application after all. Might take a while since I work during the week for me to respond.

My other IC names are: Luca Paytner, Valeria Darya, Gawen Bryson, Grey Turner, Hildr Hjorprimul, and a bunch of other names I erased.

Ive played Command on Gawen Bryson a lot, as well as Luca Paytner, Grey Turner, and some on Valeria Darya. Ive only been able to play as Command on Brett a few times due to the amount of people trying for Command roles when I play (really high pop).

I switch my RP name's around a lot since I dislike static names; you tend to attract too much positive AND negative attention, and it becomes a static meme.

As to the Briefing portion, I like to spice things up, especially with the new lore editions. I used to spook marines with legends of great pirates raiding the Colony, but ive been using UPP and CLF to explain why a colony has gone dark.

"Hello, hello. All marines, sit down and prepare for briefing. Ahem; LV-642 is your average back water colony in the ass end of nowhere, marines. Self sufficient, but an easy target for anyone to prey upon if they have the guts to anger both us and Weyland Yutani. Unfortunately for this colony, our information network has picked up disturbing news. We have hints of UPP involvement on this colony."

"The UPP sabotaged Tcomms and Engineering in this sector; thankfully we run on our own comms. Engineering, however, has to be repaired by Alpha Squad who will take the lead on that. Bravo will ensure LZ-1 is guarded from any UPP infiltrators still on the Colony attempting to take it over. Charlie and Delta will merge and recon the Colony in a circle then move into the inner portions of the Colony, aka the bio domes."

"Dismissed, marines."

This is just a basic briefing I came up with, both as a way to explain why we are there, and to explain future events if the CL wants to get into the action and cause hysteria with a possible UPP infiltration on the ship, or a "workers union" being setup by the CE that I, the CO, believe to be influenced by a UPP infiltrator. Those who roleplay extensively know that setting up background details like this mean a lot in future events, as little details all add up.

Great to see someone focus on RP and specifically outline how they want to change server culture for the better as CO. You seem to have your own, appropriate voice in your briefing and that's what I'm primarily looking for in those. +1

Your the sort that seems to have a good head on their shoulders.

I believe I can trust you to handle a position of leadership. You already done roles like SL before, so you should have at least a basic idea of leadership. Just remember to pepper some charisma into your briefings and announcements. Goes a long way I say.

From what I saw today you took actions too far, you literally gunned me down in the hallway when I walking. I wasn't even arresting you I was literally walking by and you killed me.

Seeing as you were Patton, I shall explain why you were shot up.

There was an authorized mutiny in place to free the CO; we were mutinying against the MP's. My character, Brett Tedrow, kept watching marines get split into pieces at Hydro from my cams and XO not giving many clear orders, if any at all. The CO was managing the situation just fine before they were arrested on USCM High Command orders, hence I planned my mutiny.

I got Bravo to side with me and armed them with flash bangs + cuffs. We entered brig, non-lethally took out (most) of the MP's, and rescued the CO.

Now later in the round, the MP's are free due to an agreement with the Bravo SL and MP's. The MP's then come after me on the WO's request due to a High Command fax being sent to arrest me. Right after thats reported in, you round the corner in full riot gear and a shotgun lowered. I reasonably panic, considering lethal use is authorized on those who mutiny, and I was a mutineer who was at CQC range of the Weyland Yutani semi-automatic shotgun you had out. I immediatley assumed id be shot down the moment you put your gun up, so I burst fired into you then put some distance between me and you. It seemed to scare you enough to not chase me, because I was able to escape after burst firing you.

I am sorry if you do not like my methods in this case, but it was the best I had at the time considering the situation I was in and the bad spot I was put in when you were running at me.

But the thing is, I wasnt carrying a shotgun, I was carrying my taser. And I had already passed you when you turned and opened fire on me, killing me.

If you mean when you came at me at the CIC, yes, but I didn't shoot you that time. At above CL's office encounter, I saw a shotgun sprite out, hence why I panic burst fired. You then pulled out a taser from what I saw, and thats when I engaged covering fire so that I could go down to Brig via ladder.
