Xywenx - Commander Application

Post by xywenx00 » 23 Dec 2017, 14:46

Byond ID:
Xywenx

Player name you use the most:
Chad Llyod
Daren 'Pucket' Poehl (Haven't used that one in a while though)
Synth: Bradley

Make a list of links to all of your applications and (job)ban appeals, including whitelist and staff apps, within the last year. Also, provide "Ban reason; Verdict" beside each (job)ban link: Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines?
Yes, I do understand that anyone can have their whitelist status revoked.

Do you understand how the Battlefield Execution functions?
Yes, I'm aware of how battlefield executions function. (Though I will probably prefer the standard methode of exectuion, if the need arises.)
wiki/Marine_Law#Execution_Procedures

Do you understand you are not above Marine law, or allowed to enforce it yourself?
Yes I'm aware of that, enforcing marine law is part of the Military Police, they act parallel to the marines, as in they can be seen as a seperate organ overviewing the operation and seeing that marine law and order is being upheld.

What do you think is the job of a Commander?
I believe that the job of a Commander is to... well... command. He is the highest ranking officer and is therefore a role model. He not only has to make sure that the operation goes smooth, by giving proper orders, but he also has to make sure, that the round is enjoyable for everyone. The point is not to metagame and win at all costs, but make sure everyone gets their fair share of fun during the round. For example since most people prefer not to do FOB duty a Commander could cycle squads. Another job of the Commander is to make sure that the round isn't stagnant and boring and since they have alot of influence, make sure that it's interesting for everyone. For example a Commander could make strange assignments like making a supply route from LZ1 to LZ2 something that doesn't happen often to keep the round interesting.

ICly he should make sure that he is seen as a role model aswell as command the crew and marines to the best of his ablities. He should never break marine law or procedures (or atleast not to the point, that the round is no longer enjoyable for someone). At certain times he should be strict and not let the marines run loose at other times he should loosen up and understand that they're just players trying to have fun.

If a member of your staff is disobeying orders, how would you handle it?
I'ld tell them that those orders were no requests, that there is a chain of command for a purpose and that if they don't follow the god damn orders they'll face consequences. I'll also tell them that they're free to suggest a different course of action, if they feel like they have a better idea on how to handle the situation. If the order is of major importance to the operation I'll have them imprisoned. If they are a threat to the operation I'll see about giving them isolation or issuing an execution.

Why should you be whitelisted?
I believe that I can add greatly to the enjoyment of the round by focusing on making it interesting for everyone, aswell as putting in new ideas instead of the old tactics like a FOB at the LZ and then have everyone else scout or set up power. (I'll try to make the orders somewhat not destructive for the marines, no one likes dying). I'll also try to make some minor events for example a funeral for the fallen marines or I'll be holding a small feast to honour a marine that has received a medal.

My playstyle or leadstyle rather will be balanced, though I'll put an emphasis on having a certain flow and not having the round stagnate.

I have also been playing for quite some time now, over 2,5 years now. Aswell as being accepted to Synthetic Whitelist.

If you want a Commander that is firm, but also kind at heart, that can lead with an iron fist, but listen to command staff aswell as the marines and apply their suggestions, I'm your man.

This guy once robusted an predalien and later on ancient hunter in the same round in a time span of 10 minutes.

Despite that I haven't seen you as a Command staff or actively going any headstaff at all. So this arises big concerns for me.

I would like to ask if you ever play command roles, and if so, when you does it.
Neutral until then.

Since I'm european I might not play when you're playing. I play XO every now and then, though I don't play SO as much and otherwise I play other leading roles (roles that are not in the CIC department but are heads of a department.

Thing is, I play on peak times and normally there are europeans on my time of play. So this does not lower my concerns yet.

I mean, I know you and have seen you play, just not any command roles. Never saw you XO or SO nor any headstaff of any department.

The times I saw you were either as MP, Marine deployed (SL and alike) and thats it...

I remain neutral since I don't feel like you played command roles.

On a more serious note, this guy's been accepted for synth so I doubt he isn't responsible, he's a mentor which is a bit worrying, can't trust those guys to do anything, but judging from his answers he understands what he can do to improve rhe round, and the fact his answer to orders being disobeyed wasn't "kill em", really makes me want to give a big ol +1

Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to see one of your characters in the CiC recently, but I've never had a bad experience especially with Chad, who was the one I saw the most.

I have not had any problems with you, I did not see you very much in command positions, being that I am very active on the server, but your application is optimal.

Since you have provided good answers to the application questions, I will be happy to provide you with my confidence vote and my +1.

I don't typically chime in on Commander apps, but based on recent rounds, Poehl's one of the few people who, in contrast to the vast majority of people who somehow slipped through the whitelisting system, would probably do a decent job playing the role. His character can speak in complete sentences and doesn't ego trip. Very competent in other command and support roles.

+1 and best of luck.
