I sure do! I’ve read the rules thoroughly and I have a clear picture of what I can and can’t do. I completely accept having my whitelist revoked if I happened to break the server rules.

Do you understand how the Battlefield Execution functions?

You betcha! I think that a BE is a pretty serious thing to do but I have gone ahead and set myself a little guideline. If someone were to knowingly kill someone else, directly or indirectly, I wouldn’t have any qualms about taking them out of the rounds cause they’ve done it to someone else. An example of a “yes that’s a BE” situation would be, if a SL goes ahead and retreats their squad from a two-squad assault causing the other squad to get demolished, without receiving orders to do so. A “no that ain’t a BE” situation would be, an SO dropping an OB on coordinates given to them and killing a whole squad. Above all though, a BE is situational, I have no reservations against using it if I think that it will increase the rp in the round. I’m not gonna go around BEing ungas who FF their SL to death or beat the shit out of an MT with a pizza tray, I think BEs are rare and that they should stay that way.

Do you understand you are not above Marine law, or allowed to enforce it yourself?

I do indeed! I think that the CMP’s job would be awful boring if the commander was constantly interfering. Personally I don’t find the marine law aspect of CM to be the most fun part of it, I’m perfectly content to leave the law enforcing to the mp. If there is something that qualifies for both a BE and a regular execution I will always go for the execution. I don’t expect to be caught on the wrong side of marine law either, commander isn’t really that kind of job where you break the law frequently unless you go out of your way. I know I’m not above the law and have no control over the enforcement of the law.

What do you think is the job of a Commander?

Beside struttin’ around with their six shooters, commanders are here to unify the marines and motivate them towards a common goal, as well as to organize the assets belonging to the USS Almayer to support them in that goal. This requires leadership and logistical understanding as well as the ability to role play well. To achieve these things, the most important thing for a commander is communication. My least favorite commanders are the ones who barely talk to their command staff and only occasionally pop announcements. As command staff I constantly update people on the plan. I’m a strong believer in straightforward and clear orders. A commander should hold meetings with his command staff, talk to officers individually, talk to marines before briefing, and make good, frequent use of the announcement system to let every FOB dutied PFC know what exactly is going on in the operation. Since commanders wield so much power in regards to how the round turns out I think they can have a big effect on how much fun people have by breaking up the status quo. Unorthodox strategies are always a treat. The commander is a role for leadership, quality role play, and communication, but the main job of the commander is to do their best to help everyone have fun.

If a member of your staff is disobeying orders, how would you handle it?

In my experience, when these situations arise it’s either due to poor communication on the commander or XO’s part or bad listening skills on the part of the staff. First of all I would do my best to prevent a misunderstanding by making orders clear and concise and making sure each staff member knows exactly what their objective is. If there was no misunderstanding or miscommunication and the staff member was simply disobeying orders I would of course first correct them. If they refused to obey afterwards I would find out why. If I thought that the staff member was doing something for the good of the whole marine force then I might change the plan to incorporate it. If I thought that the staff member was doing what they were doing for selfish or narrow sighted reasons that were a detriment to the operation then I would promote that staff member to head of sanitation and have them clean the briefing room. I don’t expect this to happen often though because one of the biggest parts of the aforementioned communication is listening. I plan to listen to other people’s ideas and add them to my own if I think they’re appropriate. One thing I plan on doing every round I’m CO is having a officer meeting in the commander mess to discuss the plan. I’ll make sure that I keep the perspectives of my staff in mind which should prevent most cases of insubordination.

Why should you be whitelisted?

I should be whitelisted because not only am I a world class rper I also really enjoy command roles and think I’m pretty decent at em. As a commander I’ll do my best to give outside the box rounds, as well as provide the good people of CM with some fun, memorable rp. I also consider myself to be a master tactician and have never lost a round as XO (it’s never been my fault anyway). In short I am not bald despite my character being bald and am cool and good. So I'm ignoring all the talk about how he portrays a Japanese immigrant, and giving him a +1 based on his command abilities.

As was stated above, if we ignored the way you talk, you are still a god damn fine XO/SO/SL. I have had you on my team a few times and you know how to lead your men well. Also unlike some other applications, you actually took it seriously and explained things in detail.

Good app, active ingame/forums, and I think you got what it takes. I’ve had you as my XO once when I went CO, and after the attachments dealio was sorted, you were active over announcements and kept the men informed. The only real complaint I have is to be more communicative with Command staff, though that could’ve just been a one time thing, as the other rounds where I was your subordinate that issue didn’t seem to be a big deal.

Heavy pressure on the guy for his character, but besides that. He is a natural commander, with the ability to actually inspire marines with his comedic accent and his honorable ideals. He also demonstrates a lot of competence in his application and in game. My one sole complaint is that sometimes he is...incomprehensible to understand, which I hear has been improving by a bit. Otherwise, this boy has my +1!

If you're a CO, I'm expecting you to tone down your accent a bit. It csn get VERY excessive at times to the point certain announcements and messages are barely understandable.

But anyways, you're competent command wise and RP wise (except the excessive use of the accent).

Guess I'll be playing devil's advocate here. Not that it seems like it'll matter for much.
Player was told to tone it down, then went ahead and doubled down on his behavior and had to be told again.
His idea of RP is acting like a cartoon character stereotype. Debatable offensiveness aside, since apparently everybody loves it, it's demonstrably LRP for a role that should be held to a higher standard.
It's clear he doesn't take the command roles seriously given this, as well as the use of comic sans for the app format. He wants to "play an amusing character" while simultaneously playing in one of the most visible roles. It makes it seem like you're applying for the sake of being a meme commander. Personally I feel like we have had enough meme commanders.

On a positive note:
Most of the answers are pretty solid.
You certainly do have the proper take-charge attitude for the role and know how to rally your team. In my limited experience with you as an SO, you were also quite responsive to the squad's needs and helped keep up morale. It's just a shame you waste that potential for such a joke character. Regardless of how much everyone else eats it up.
I'll wait to see more in-game demonstration that you are willing to improve the behavior before considering any changes to my point of view.

I wouldn't say I JUST had a report. Anyway that report was resolved and an admin talked to me and told me what I was doing is fine as long as I toned it down. I think I toned it down pretty good but it's very hard to be consistent when you're typing an accent so sometimes it might be worse than others. I never even said that I was going to play commander as my current character, but if I do I would be sure to play him differently so that it's more subtle in the commander role. I understand what Nico is saying that commander should be held to a higher standard, that's what the rules say anyway. In practice though commanders are about as medium rp as the rest of the server. I'm not applying just for the sake of being a meme, I genuinely like command roles and I want a chance at being the big cheese, and does it really matter that it's in comic sans? At least I wrote something in the app unlike other people.


Also I was bwoinked again by a different admin who seemed to have his own ideas about what "tone it down" means

There's some serious pot kettle black going on in here regarding allegations of low RP, honestly.

Anyway, I haven't seen much of you but honestly, the accent doesn't bother me that much. I saw a senior member of staff asking you to tone it down in general, though, and honestly I'd echo that call twice over if you're going for a serious position like CO. I'll be the first to admit that I play my character super unseriously and dick around a bit when I play enlisted roles and such, but when I play CO or anything with a higher profile I tighten up my standards. I would expect to see the same of you - I don't mind what you do as other roles (within reason), but if a whitelisted CO starts hamming it up with "ALL SQUADDOS PROCEEDARU TO RAMBDA RABS" over the announcement console then I'd be very unhappy indeed.
