Malachi Russel's Commander Application

Post by Takov » 12 Jan 2017, 15:06

Player name you use the most: Malachi Russel

Make a list of links to all of your applications and (job)ban appeals, including whitelist and staff apps, within the last year. Also, provide "Ban reason; Verdict" beside each (job)ban link: I have none.

Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines?
Yes.

Why should you be whitelisted?
I've already been CO and BO many, many times before the whitelist was implemented. I've led the marines to victory even when it seemed everything was fucked. Even when I wasn't the Commander I often found myself ending up in charge of the Marines due to (usually violent) circumstances, and I can't count the amount of times I was forced to run the entire bridge by myself. I do my damned best to keep both my men alive and kicking ass.
I know how to command, I know how to lead, I know how to attack, retreat, regroup, and hold the line.

Hmm. I don't know you at all, and you have 3 posts on the forums.
Tell me about your character, give me a memorable story from when you played CO before.

Leaning towards voting for you, just checking that you're serious about this.

Your name looks incredibly familiar so I don't doubt your playtime as BO or CO. I'd, like jroinc said, like to see some more about you but I'm gonna vote +1 just because you've been around for a while, and any memories associated with your names are good ones (being a good BO etc).

Fair enough.
Character's story is nothing too special, he was a riot officer before he joined the USCM. During a violent protest against W-Y he lost sight in one of his eyes after a shard of glass from an exploding Molotov landed in it. Somewhat tired of being unable to fight back at his current job and wanting to see more of the galaxy, he enlisted with the Colonial Marines.
Since the protest he almost always wears an eyepatch over that eye. Sometimes he claims that he got his eye fixed up or replaced after that protests and that it does work, other times he claims it's still non-functional. Maybe it works and he's just trying to look cool? Or to remind himself that he's as vulnerable as everyone else? Only he knows.
Personality-wise, he has both a strong sense of duty and a cynical outlook on life.

And the story...it was many months or maybe even a year ago so forgive if I'm lacking on details, but it's my best time as CO I can recall. (If you were there and I got some details wrong or mixed them up with other rounds, feel free to correct me, my memory isn't the best.)

It was a long, brutal battle on Lazarus Landing. Back and forth, charges on both sides. Through helmet and sentry gun cams I watch as xeno and marine blood covered the grass. I did my damned best to keep up the fight and keep my troops alive. Xenos set up a forward hive on the river, I sent at least 2 whole squads to assault it. Although it ended with the marines falling back, they left numerous enemy corpses behind them and I remember someone in OOC saying that the river battle was "amazing". Shortly after that I ordered all the remaining troops to the Nexus FOB, deciding that we didn't have enough men to keep attacking. From the Nexus my troops held the line, bleeding them dry and dry. Still, there were too many and casualties mounted over time. Eventually I ordered a full evacuation back to the Sulaco, probably just minutes before they'd get overrun.
Wounded and exhausted, my troops began to get patched up and reorganize while fresh troops woke up ready for duty.
Then...the shuttle was somehow called down by the fuckers down on the planet. Hurriedly the marines rushed to the hangar, taking up defensive positions. The freaks came in force, and due to low manpower I went down myself and aided in the defense. Acid spits and flying facehuggers were met with bullets and incendiary grenades. Some of the Xeno bastards got out via the east exit of the hangar, and entrenched themselves in Engineering, including a Queen if I remember right...and that's when I sent the shuttle back down. That simple action cut the Xeno forces in half, the marines rallied and, after plentiful amounts of gunfire, killed the Queen and purged the freaks that managed to board.

I don't remember the exact details after that, but we still had a long way to go I think. Causality after kill after injury as we defended the Sulaco.
We were tired. Exhausted. Injured. Hours of combat had cost us so much. We had maybe 8-12 people capable of combat total, Command staff included at this desperate point. We knew one more boarding and we'd be fucking dead. We. Were. Fucked.
Then...a scan from MOTHER appeared, a divine light piercing the darkness if I were to be fucking poetic. Just a couple of the fuckers were left planetside! We actually outnumbered them. At once the defeated atmosphere vanished, our exhaustion and fear replaced with pure, utter determination.
I ordered one final charge, all of us combat-capable boarding the Rasputin with the handful of troops we had left. Regulations had lone gone out the window by now, and I boarded the Dropship with the others. We were sore, covered in blood and wounds. But we were ready to win. What little the fuckers had left perished under our gunfire, and we made a final approach towards the river Hive, searching for the last of the bastards. And he almost got me in that damned maze when my troops came to my rescue, and we all killed happily ever after.

MAJOR MARINE VICTORY.
