Sergey Vorobyev - Commander Application

Post by Doktor710 » 03 Jul 2017, 17:58

Byond ID: Doktor710

Player name you use the most: Sergey Vorobyev

Make a list of links to all of your applications and (job)ban appeals, including whitelist and staff apps, within the last year. Also, provide "Ban reason; Verdict" beside each (job)ban link:
  • No bans, applications and etc.
Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines?

Yes

Why should you be whitelisted?
  • I was playing Commander before whitelist was created, and well... I think I was doing good, every time when I was commander we have been winning (Except when I was playing the first time). Also, I am regularly playing as SL and people like me ( :cutewink: ).
  • I understand that communication and leadership are the keys to being good Commander, support, give information and give orders, that what makes commander good, and I am going to use this to be a good commander.
  • I am willing to provide good RP and good leadership at the same time.
I think I described myself as command member and I think it's enough.

Briefing? You know? Briefing the marines on the current mission?

Here is an example from my app:

Good morning, marines! Hope you liked your stale food for breakfast. Now sit down and be quiet, briefing is starting. We have arrived on LV-624 to answer a distress signal coming from the archaeology site, Lazarus Landing. All attempts to contact the colony have failed so far, so keep a close eye on any potential hostile activity, possibly from the UPP or the CLF. We also know that there is a power outage currently on the colony. Now, time to get on with the squad assignments.

We will need a Foward Operating Base to escort any colonist with important information to the Almayer. Bravo will be assigned this duty. Their objective is to secure the LZ primarily. The Nexus area is completely optional, they can secure it if they wish. However, it isnt required by them at all. I also want Bravo to make a foward medical area in case the colonists are injured.

Due to the power outage, all lights on the colony are shut off, including the floodlights. Since we are heading down in the middle of the night, this is going to severly hurt our vision. Charlie is going to head to power to fix anything wrong with the generators and turn the floodlights on. After they got power and floods online, they are to head to the FoB to help Bravo in building it.

We have little to no information on what happened to the colony, currently. We are going to send Delta to investigate what exactly happened to the colony. They are to report any hostiles to other squads and Command itself. The first place to investigate is the IA building and then the research dome.

Alpha's job is to create a small outpost in Fitness and to obtain any useful supplies for the FoB or the outpost itself. They can move into Hydro and Medical itself if they wish.

Alpha and Bravo will be heading down on DS1. Charlie and Delta are heading down DS2. Any questions, marines? No? Alright, go kick some commie ass!

Ah, understood. (It's a bit strange to do o_O)

"Marines, we got a distress signal from a colony down there. Our objective is to figure out what happened and evacuate people if necessary. (The next are examples, it's too long to explain why I assigned which squad to which mission, but it's easy to understand, right? Medics + engineers = FOB duty and restoring power, Ice colony? Medics + engineers = FOB duty and another squad who has engineers restoring power, if only one squad has engineers - send engineers with another squad.) Alpha is going to provide power if necessary and set up a FOB, if scout squads retreat, help them and get wounded on the ship. Bravo, scout the colony and look for survivors, engage any enemies if present, provide a retreat for Delta if required. Delta, scout the colony with Bravo, provide a retreat for Bravo if required. Charlie, stay at the FOB and be ready for orders (In case its Ice colony I would tell them to guard entrances on the surface)."

Lotta red flags raised and your briefing's super lackluster, doesn't make up for them.

Reapply when someone's actually seen you on the server in the last two months and you have more of a reason for people to vote you as CO.

Eh, your briefing is too short, has a few grammar mistakes here and there, boring, and lacking in personality. Its also really all over the place. I really dont want to see this kind of briefing from my Commander. For now, I am going with -1. Play as an XO for a bit so I can see what RP situations you can create. Please know that Commander is a RP role.

PS: I deleted the parenthesized stuff since it was a bit distracting.

I haven't seen you in game in the past week and that's a pretty big issue. Also, while it seems you did try to put effort into your briefing, as others have said, it's very lackluster. I'd recommend watching how other COs write their briefings and try to form your on style off of that. -1

My briefing is to give information, shorter - faster deploying. And I don't think briefing is a good thing to "show my RP level and personality". And well, my character is serious, so he's not going to say things like "Alright, go kick some commie ass!?", because we are in the army, right?

My character HATES communists and communism. Its part of his personality. I want to see your personality, so I dont want a Commander that is boring and have no personality what so ever. Plus the "Muh faster deploying" excuse is really overused. I could say "Go down to the colony, marines. I will give your objectives on the ground." and I will say its for "faster deploying", but it just comes off as an excuse for being lazy.

My character is kind of "perfect soldier": serious, respectful and etc. And his main feature is responsibility for his marines, it's hard to show such personalities at the briefing, because people think "pfff, he's briefing is boring and he can't try to do better interesting briefing". You think "boring", I think "serious". Of course, I can try to make better briefing, that will be interesting and serious at the same time, but no boring, but it's a game, where people hate long briefings and just coming here to shoot aliens, you can make the round interesting for people by another way: you see marines on the FOB duty are tired? Ask command if they assault squad needs backup, tell them to scout around the FOB, tell them to do laps, push ups etc. The briefing is not the only one thing, that can show, that you are really interesting and your character is really interesting.

Listen man TehSpoderman helped me with my app too. He wants you, with your personality. The way you character would act. To put together a script of what you would say. When you come back to reply imagine you are in the briefing, it has begun, and you have to tell them what the situation is and why it was important enough to wake them all up. And go:

Also you do this right and I'll +1 also.

Dude. Okay. Game starts right? Briefing time is the first thing everyone wants and whether they have their radios yet or not, your announcement will reach them. They need a time. You need to pick one and put it out there.

You're looking at what you got whether its a full crew or just a few higher positions filled here or there. You need to make a plan now. Then briefing comes. You're down there in front of them. Give them the plan. And go:

You gotta be ready for anything if you're going to be a CO. Even failing to match the RP you want to instill upon your job that round.

You can do either of these things or both, I dont care. Show me you can act as YOUR character.

The CL wants you to recover a valuable asset from the planet. He shows you a picture of it and its a picture of a small puppy. Show me an interaction with you and the CL (totally didnt take this from another app lel)

Write me another briefing. This time, Im gonna say which map you are on and what each squad has.

The map is: LV

Alpha has: 1 medic and 1 engi

Bravo has: 2 medics and 2 engis

Charlie has: no medics and 1 engi

Delta(rds) has: 2 medics and no engis

Alright, go all out. :)

(For real I would say "Good morning" using the announcement, but ok)
"Good morning, Marines. We got a distress signal from the colony down there, and we should check what happened there, maybe it's UPP or another shit, but anyways we should check and help colonists. A colony is surrounded by jungles, there is a huge Nexus on the east and caves on the north, we should check both and look for possible survivors of something that happened there. Also, as we know there is no power, so we should restore it. I remind, squad leaders, that our dropships can provide CAS if you will mark targets with your tactical binoculars, your orbital beacons will send us your coordinates for orbital strike and supply beacons will help us to deliver you your supplies, Marines are yours , I wish, you won't act them like they are disposable, because I don't want to get someone dead, in case if we will get a heavy contact, try to minimize casualties. So, our objective is to find out what happened, neutralize the enemy, and if we won't be able to do it, just evacuate survivors from the planet, now squad assignments.

Bravo is going to set up a FOB at the Nexus, secure landing zone and restore power, in short, FOB duty.

Alpha is going to help Bravo to set up a FOB, and then going to hydroponics and medbay with Charlie to set up a Second FOB, a small one. Also, if Bravo's engineers will be free, they may help Alpha. When Alpha is finished building FOB, they are going to protect it, help wounded, if there will be any, and cover attacking or retreating squads.

Charlie is to escort Alpha and help them to set up a FOB at hydroponics and medbay, once they finished setting up FOB, they should scout northern side of the river with Delta after my permission.

Delta is going to scout southern side of the river, colony, while Alpha and Bravo is setting up FOBs.

Delta and Charlie, you always have covered back, feel free to retreat, in case you get overwhelmed.

Remember, communication is the key, I wish you good luck, and remember, I am counting on you."

CL situation

Aww, he's so cute, let's rescue him at all costs "What the hell. Do you want my Marines to risk their lives and die to rescue THIS? We aren't your own little army, we are here to save your colonists, not puppies. I am not going to order my Marines to do that, no, never. Goodbye!" *angrily turns around and walks away*

You still need to fix a couple things in your briefing, such as grammar issues, but its WAY better than the last briefing you gave. Now onto the CL situation...

The CL faxes High Command saying you are incompetent and unreliable. High Command then tells you to reply to them using the communications console and explain why didnt you agree to his conditions or else face being forced to give up your Commander position on the ship. What do you do?

I will reply them with a message like this: "CL told me, that we need to recover a "valuable asset" from the planet, but it was PUPPY, our Marines aren't disposable or expendable and we can't use them to save puppies. Our objective is to rescue people and destroy any enemy down there, not to save puppies if someone from W-Y wants so.
