Noah Bedran - CO Application

Post by Emmanuel Bassil » 02 Apr 2018, 20:46

Byond ID: emmanuelbassil

Player name you use the most: Noah Bedran

Make a list of links to all of your applications and (job)ban appeals, including whitelist and staff apps, within the last year. Also, provide "Ban reason; Verdict" beside each (job)ban link:
  • None.
Do you understand that any player - even donors or staff members - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our Server Rules or Roleplay Guidelines?
Yes.

Do you understand how the Battlefield Execution functions?
Yes. Battlefield executions are a power granted to the Commander only to execute anyone deemed a threat to the operation. Said threat cannot be contained or stopped in any other method bar execution. In other words, if the offender can be stopped non-lethally, a battlefield execution is not warranted nor authorized.

Do you understand you are not above Marine law, or allowed to enforce it yourself?
I do. The CO is here to ensure proper flow of the operation. His best ally in enforcing Marine Law is the CMP. The CO can only point to marine law violations, which is a way in which he helps the flow of the operation. Obeying marine law himself is critical to keep his legitimacy among the crew.

What do you think is the job of a Commander?
The Commander's job is to coordinate amongst all the different officers to be able to have a more or less full image of the happenings on the planet. Considering each officer is a puzzle piece in a larger picture, the CO's job is to assemble that larger picture and then give directions to make it better. The CO serves best in the middle of the CiC, surrounded by his officers. A CO aware of the operational tempo and needs of his men can be a critical difference in that successful OB, well-run Requisitions, or problem-free medical bay. He is the oil that makes sure the cogs of the Alamayer run smoothly.

If a member of your staff is disobeying orders, how would you handle it?
Depends on the seniority. If it's a man not part of my inner circle of command, then I simply nod to my officers and have them handle it. A CO should not involve himself in manners way below his pay grade.
If it's someone on my CiC bridge staff, or otherwise inner circle, this is where I exercise my hard earned Whitelist chops. I am the CO, you are to obey my order. If you don't like my order, you can get off the CiC. Your replacement will be easy to find. Shall they not retire willingly, I'll summon the CMP and ask him to press insubordination charges. The less I move from my chair, the better.

If the insubordination can directly lead to loss of life, and there is no way for Military Police to come subdue the offender, this is where I exercise my right of Battlefield execution. Only in battlefield situations.

Why should you be whitelisted?
I am very competent at command. I've been playing SS13 for five years, from BestRP to Baystation 12 (The latter taking most of my time); and all I've ever played is Captain.
Those who have seen me XO or CMO here on CM can vouch for my organizational skills.
Unlike most people applying here, I'm not in it for the Mateba or for the BE. I'm here because getting XO is increasingly hard; and when I do get XO I find myself babysitting a CO more than managing a CiC. So I figured, since what I really want to do is manage a CiC; I might as well apply to the job supposed to be doing it.

Whitelist me, and you'll have a CO whose only goal is to actual run the Alamayer like a whistle to victory; or an honorable defeat.

Can you format your app better? You're a good player, though, I know that.

+1 I've seen you around, you seem like a cool person, ( Mainly in OOC, not in IC too much though)

I gotta question though, how will you be different from the other commanders? In terms of being realistic, inspiring your troops, etc... rather than just dishing out dull orders and the occasional joke or meme.
From what I've seen, I generally don't feel too inspired or in a battle spirit with some COs, I feel like they are rushing for a quick win. ( I believe COs work better when they try to truly inspire their troops )
I play Daniel Sullivan.

Forgive me. I improved it a bit.

I might've not been clear enough in my app; but when I said "Lead to victory or an honorable defeat"; I want to emphasize the honorable defeat part more. What I mean is that it doesn't matter to me if we win or lose; but it matters to me how we do it.

What will make me different from COs is my zero tolerance to bullshit; which I've comically built in my Bedran characters for years. Bedran's harsh words, disrespect and sheer disdain for incompetence, grudging respect of competence, and sometimes outright petty announcements is what will set Bedran apart.

What this server needs in COs is one who has no tolerance for nonsense. A hard-ass. That's what'll set me apart and inspire other hard-asses to give it their all, even as their squad specialists do their dang best to friendly fire them into an early grave.

You sound like you'll play like Bill Carson, which is a type of commander I do enjoy serving under, he makes being a marine a lotta fun.
Well, I think you'd make a great CO. My +1 remains.

To be honest, some people on Bay did tell me about this Carson fellow after one of my Captain rounds, way before I tried CM. Probably reminded them of him.
It seems his reputation precedes him even on other servers.

Noah Bedran is one of the most notorious COs in Baystation12. I've had several great experiences with him over there and I was pleasantly surprised to find him here. He's a fantastic roleplayer and I've seen him perform well in CM. I think he will make a great addition to the whitelist.

+1
I used to play Luke Compton. Now I play Reginald Dempsey.

-1, begging for validation after a terrible round as XO in discord, then getting argumentive when offered sound advice (ie. please pay attention to comms).

I think more rounds as SO and XO in CM under a variety of circumstances are needed.

Thank you for your feedback.
I still don't agree with it. If arguing with feedback from someone who's seen 10% of the picture the whole round is argumentative; then so be it.

Nonetheless, I'll make sure I improve on the points I did agree with. (Not following up on the ship-side situation as much.)

+1 this guy knows what he is doing, and other potential COs should learn from this guy.
Commander Councilman. Along with Takethehot56, Bancrose, Dr.Lance, and Frans_Feiffer. PM me or any of them for inquiries about Commander.

Seen him around some, looks like a competent player. Though if what @Torrentia sayd is true, I'll be going with a neutral. I think you could handle it, but that does bring my vote down a bit.
I play as Monday "Scatter" Williams, he is the guy that takes no one seriously, except his good friend, his work.

He has actual command experience, played more than anyone else applying and put effort into his app.

+1, used more than one colour on his app.

Denied

Lack of support. While I'm not personally familiar with you, I'll take Lordington's word that you're well-known on Baystation, as it's been a while since I've played there. I'd recommend getting to be more well-known around here before going for a whitelist, so you get more support.
