Contact's Synthetic Application

Post by contactdenied » 22 Dec 2017, 02:22

Byond ID: ContactDenied

Marine Name (so we know who you are; if you play alien mostly, state that here): Phillip Driver

Name/Designation of the Synth Character you’re requesting to use (Follows common naming rules, and requires a first name with no last name): Jim

Are you familiar with the Synthetic Programming and Guidelines (viewtopic.php?f=57&t=14417)? I've read it over quite a few times, I understand the guidelines and server rules.

Synthetic Character Story (An ADEQUATE description and story of your Synthetics actions and involvement in a previous mission onboard the Almayer):
► Show Spoiler
How do you intend to play your Synth (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your Synth and what support roles you’ll mainly focus on, what is your synthetics quirk)?
► Show Spoiler
How familiar are you with support roles? (ie; Medical, MT, Science, SO)

Medical: I know how to do surgery and will try to heal people to their fullest if supplies permit it. I've been a doctor before and I go CMO sometimes.

Engineering: I have played as a Squad Engineer a lot, I'm able to build pretty decent FoBs given enough materials and I go MT or CE sometimes to get the rust off of my generator repairing skills.

Science: I've played as a Researcher a few times, and I've dabbled a lot in this area as CMO on rounds where we don't have a Researcher.

Command: I do not trust myself with CO or XO leadership responsibilities, but I have played SO quite a few times and I interact with my squad a lot to check if they need supplies.

Millitary Police: I've dabbled in this area quite a bit, I know Marine Law and It's similar to playing security on regular SS13 servers, barring the marines with guns part.

Why should we whitelist you? Ooh, this is a hard one. I'd like to think that I'm pretty experienced with this server, and it's encouraged me to set up macros if I wanted to use shotguns and other items effectively. Heck, I even know how to set safeties on guns at this point. I think I behave pretty well, definitely a lot better then when I first started out on the server, though I might accidentally take a pill as a standard, because I'm still trying to get the old medic habits off. I like to think of myself as an okay RPer, though some other people might not see it that way since I barely punctuate my sentences, though I usually only do this when I'm something like a standard marine since I don't have much importance in the whole shindig, and I'm usually only playing to have fun and not RP much, so I don't need to sound really professional. As a role of higher importance like an SO I put more effort into punctuation and sentence structure and overall trying to not sound like a boot. I play to have fun, but I like to help out others to improve their game too.

Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason (we will check, and lies may result in immediate denial)? I believe that the only ban I've ever had was because of accidental EORG, it was only for a few hours and also a few months back.

Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why? Nope, I'm clean.

Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or the Synthetic Programming Guideline? Yeah, I understand this.

Any criticisms are welcome, tell me what you don't like, what you like, anything, thank you!
Phillip Driver, jack of all trades, reliable in some. Your typical jumpy flamer PFC or ammo fumbling CPL, always has a pair of ballistic goggles on him for unknown reasons. Will probably die mid sentence, because he talks (and gets bullied) too much for his own good. He has his moments though.

Jim, a Gen 2 Synthetic. Has a tendency to get melted to bits when planet side, and that's when he's behind barricades. Despite that, he's vigilant and always ready to drag you out of danger, even if it damages him in the process.

Never heard about your marine character, but I'm bad with memories. The backstory is pretty nice, even though the outline itself is ... Well... Basic and easy to guess. The quirks are interesting. Would be fun if his talks about Kepler crisps and other stuff is basically advertisement.

+1 from me

Yeah, I'm not too well known since I've moved over to only playing marine standard for the past month. I usually end up dying really fast after I open the barricade for one second to check out that weird noise. The whole advertisement idea is really good though, I might try it out if I get accepted. Thanks for the 1+!

I don't normally check the whitelist forums except every now and then, but I know Phillip Driver is a good marine, even if he is charlie. I trust him enough to hold RP and be a competent synthetic, and I enjoyed his story.

+1.

Heyy, what's wrong with me bein a charlie? Thanks for the +1 man, I've seen Adan around a few times but I don't think we've had many RP moments together.

I'm going to give this application a hard +1. Very good backstory with impressive answers to each question. I don't particularly know the marine character so I can't judge from any past experiences but that shouldn't have much of an impact anyways.

Thanks for the 1+ dude, I think I spent an hour or so on my backstory trying to perfect it but looking at it now I think I made a few mistakes.

+1, mainly because you seem trustable with the role of being a Synthetic. Since your story was fantastic and not boring or rushed, I can see you being a good roleplayer and competent.

In addition, you seem to have good experience with at least 3 of the departments: Medical, Engineering and Security.
Good job man.

I might try XO one day to see how being second in command feels, though I'm wayy too scared of screwing up somehow or giving out bad orders. I was pretty interested in the science part of CM starting out but now I've realized there isn't that much to it. Thanks for the +1

+1 Amazing backstory. The name...well,every synthetic has simple names like:Bob,John etc.You have a good experience with 3 departments(i dont think a synthetic should do EVERY department because you would be very busy all the time helping LITERALLY everyone and this would affect your gameplay).Good game for you!

The name is kind of a homage to a character I play on other SS13 servers, I figured that it would work and that it was simple enough so thanks. I was a bit worried when I was writing this because it was a 3 out of 5 in terms of all of the departments but I'm glad that it's fine with other people, including you. Thanks for the +1

Phillip's a damn good marine and I'm always happy when I see him around as an LT, CE, or my personal favorite, PFC. he's been around a long time to my knowledge, and has carved his own little spot in my memory. I personally think he's well fit to be a synthetic, and his application is nice as well. He's well deserving of my +1.

Thanks for the +1! I respect Anthony a lot and it's nice that I somehow managed to carve a little spot of my own in your head.

Phillip Driver is a very capable RPer, and is one of the players that sincerely sticks with me. I also appreciate the background being more of a story showing who he is and how he'll react to situations instead of a biography. You have my +1.

Super happy to know that I manage to stick around in a few people's heads, I never thought of myself as super capable at RP but I'm glad that I manage to give off that air to people. I was thinking about doing a biography for my synth but I thought it wouldn't really show off my synth and what he could do so I went for a story. Thanks for the +1!
