Post by Imperator_Titan » 08 Jul 2018, 20:57

Byond ID:

Imperator_Titan

Marine Name (so we know who you are; if you play alien mostly, state that here):

Ed Trevor

Name/Designation of the Synth Character you’re requesting to use (Follows common naming rules, and requires a first name with no last name):

Luna

Are you familiar with the Synthetic Programming and Guidelines (viewtopic.php?f=57&t=14417)?

Of course

Synthetic Character Story (An ADEQUATE description and story of your Synthetics actions and involvement in a previous mission onboard the Almayer

Synthetic 0501 designated as ‘Luna’ was the recent replacement due for the USS Almayer after the previous synthetic had been destroyed in an artillery strike from CLF insurgents in the ‘Neon Omega’ sector, where the battalion had sustained many casualties and were slowly pulling out due to underestimating the enemy. The most recent of operations being conducted on Titan V, a planet rich in minerals to create new ships and weaponry for the USCM. The colonists had recently begun a rebellion and the USS Almayer was dispatched quickly to deal with them.

The recent Alamo's arrival sparked some dread amongst the crew as the marines onboard were the last ones occupying outpost Gamma on the surface of Titan V, which was infact the second outpost left standing, the last being outpost Whiskey

------------

The woman stood up over the sealed cryogenic pod, looking down inside at the occupant. Her yellowish clothes supported by an orange jacket, chief engineer Kara Walsh smiled. She pulled the clipboard off her waist and pulled out a pen from inside her pockets and began ticking away lines of writing. "Synthetic model #0501 Luna, check.. All pieces contained, check. Righto, let's give this robot a test-run." She promptly activated the cryogenic activation sequence and began to wait.

The cryogenic pod shutter opened partially with a startle before emitting a hiss and opening fully. The occupant, synthetic 'Luna' was standing at attention in mere moments before the chief engineer told her to loosen up and that she may be an officer but one doesn't have to salute her. What caught the synthetic's attention was that she was alone in being awakened from cryo-sleep. "Luna, run a full diagnostic test on yourself. Send the information directly to my PDA". Luna nodded and a beep came from Kara's PDA a solid minute later. "Task completed lieutenant commander Walsh, would you like anything else?" Luna asked. Kara pulled up her PDA and glanced down at the stream of code which filled it. "One moment. All systems are green, you're good to go!" Kara said as she swept the information away from her PDA. "It also says here that you're requested in the Commander's quarters in the next 10 minutes." Luna smiled at her and tilted her head, "Of course. Inform the Commander that I will be there right away. Do you require anything else, lieutenant commander?" [Kara returned the smile and jotted a few things down on the clipboard. "Nope! That'll be all Luna, you're dismissed!" Luna gave her a quick salute and started making her way towards the Commander's quarters.

------------

On her way there, Luna noticed that the ship was in full flight, supplies were being hauled to the hangar, marines were rushing for deployment. She interpreted this as the operation already having started without her. Perhaps the Commander thought that he could pull off the operation without her. Whatever the reason, Luna paid no attention to it and continued with the task at hand.

Luna came across a wounded marine en route to the medical facilities. The marine collapsed abruptly half-way to the door. Without saying a word, Luna pushed him over, checked for a pulse and scanned for any injuries. All in the span of 5 seconds, no less. Luna was quite pleased with the timing before setting upon hertask once again. The marine had a bullet wound in his right leg. Blood was spilling out rapidly from the wound to which Luna deducted that the artery had been hit while the bullet was passing through, judging by the exit wound on the back. No shrapnel either. Luna glanced up on the name tag on the marine's uniform, gathering that this was private first class Ed Trevor of Alpha squad. "Private First Class Trevor, you'll be alright soon enough." said Luna, before glancing a smile at the marine's fading features. This was infact the only thing she said before Trevor passed out a few minutes later under the pain of it all. Luna had already begun her work moments prior, clamping the artery, cleaning the wound and sealing it off before dumping the marine in medbay for surgery, all with the help of a nanomed clamped to the wall, which contained all the necessary supplies in an emergency. Luna set about continuing to the Commander's quarters as directed, content with her work. A solid 55.76 seconds spent on the marine.

--------------

Luna entered the Commander's quarters and shot a salute to the tall, bald and broad man standing behind a table, gazing down at a tactical overview of the area of Titan V and outpost Whiskey. "Synthetic Luna reporting as ordered, Commander. What do you require?" Commander Gage Baldwin sat down in his chair lined with gold and silver. He gave off what seemed to be a look of worry to Luna. She used all the information available and estimated that the operation was not proceeding well, which was why she was awakened. The Commander explained that outpost Whiskey was under attack from all sides from the insurgents. A retreat was their only option, which was where Luna came in. The Alamo was too damaged to fly again due to a Surface to Air missile striking the starboard engine after returning twice from outpost Whiskey after the evacuation of outpost Gamma. This is why she'd fly the Normandy down to outpost Whiskey and evacuate all personnel remaining. She gave a nod to the commander, her internal hardware calculating the chances of a successful rescue before being dismissed and leaving with a salute.

She placed it at 35.23%

---------

Luna departed an hour later to outpost Whiskey in the Normandy. Due to the other pilots being injured, she was forced to fly alone. She was escorted by the marine she previously assisted who was fixed up and sent back down immediately, Private Ed Trevor. Upon arrival, she noted multiple things. Most buildings were on fire, the landing pad was destroyed, the marines were scattered and being killed in groups by concentrated fire and finally, the insurgents were beginning to enter the compound itself. Luna turned on the built-in radio in the cockpit quickly, making sure to hurry before the insurgents were fully inside and made an announcement on all squad channels. "This is synthetic Luna of the USS Almayer! Any surviving marines, please embark the Normandy, we'll be landing shortly, transmitting coordinates now. Please make do with haste. The next scheduled departure is unknown.". Luna landed with a sudden jolt on the hard, rocky surface as a substitute for the landing pad and immediately deployed the gauss turrets to ward off any insurgents and patiently began to wait as per her orders.

A minute passed and then two. No marines had shown up. Trevor disembarked and ran towards the gunfire, thinking he saw a marine in the distance. Luna informed him to keep in mind what the mission was and also mentioned that the odds of him returning were less than 10% however Trevor paid no heed to her warnings and was already gone. This intrigued Luna. To defy logic to do quite a foolish thing? It may have been the morally correct thing to do regardless of how foolish but Luna didn't understand. Perhaps she never would. The gunfire was beginning to creep closer and closer. She estimated that she had another 10 minutes before the insurgents would overwhelm them. An abrupt banging sound came from the rear entrance followed by a voice, "Corporal John Donable, Echo squad! Open up, they're almost on top of us!". Luna flicked a button and two marines piled in, followed by two roller beds with two more injured. "Greetings corporal! Please take a seat, we'll be disembarking shortly." She said before following it up with a salute. The eastern gauss turret began to fire wildly and Luna quickly closed the doors and prepped for take-off. They had run out of time faster than anticipated. Just as they were about to lift-off, Luna was halted by a marine banging on the cockpit windows with one hand and dragging an unconscious marine with the other. "This is staff sergeant Alicia Parker, open up goddamnit! I have one man bleeding out, if you don't op-" The woman's talk was cut off by a stray rifle bullet. Luna glimpsed the staff sergeant fall backwards and collapse. It was a headshot, she was dead almost instantly. Blood was sprayed all over the window.

The eastern gauss turret's ammo indicator was at 5%, it let out one final burst before beeping rapidly and shutting down. The unconscious marine still lived and it would take an estimated 23.56 seconds to retrieve him however, the chance of it being successful were placed at 20% and would leave the injured crew at risk. Luna glimpsed at the marine's seemingly lifeless body and caught a read of his name tag, it was private first class Ed Trevor. Luna had already made a plan and intended to follow it through.

------------
She was on her way back to the Almayer. The blood on the window having dried. She put the lives of many over the life of one. It was indeed a tragedy, thought the crew. Perhaps the next mission would turn out better. According to her calculations, as per protocol another ship would be dispatched to deal with Titan V. In the events that that too was unsuccessful, the chance of a nuclear strike would be 78.54%. She set the controls to auto-pilot and tended to the wounded in the back, with a smile on her robotic face.

How do you intend to play your Synth (as in, describe HOW you will act/play your Synth and what support roles you’ll mainly focus on, what is your synthetics quirk)?

I intend to play my synthetic as a millitaristic one. They'll be using percentages when referring to orders to emphasize a point. They emphasize on their orders first and can be quite cold and calculating when they need to be. As for the militaristic part, I intend to refer to people as I did in the backstory via rank, using phrases like "sir" and "ma'am"', saluting in the presence of command personnel and etc.

How familiar are you with support roles? (ie; Medical, MT, Science, SO)

Quite familiar. I used to main medical roles from 2016 to the summer of 2017 and I still retain most of the knowledge. Played some Doctor recently too.

Engineering roles, I began to experiment with all the roles since last summer and know the ins and outs of the roles.

Science doesn't really exist anymore however I used to be quite proficient at creating grenades and cooking up new mixtures.

SO, through my time here, I became quite knowledgable with the entire command structure and job, being a whitelisted commander. Of course part of my CO whitelist was understanding marine law, which I'm quite capable of,

Why should we whitelist you?

I was quite unsure if I wanted to make this app in the first place until convinced otherwise by a friend who told me the ups and downs. Generally, the entire role play aspect is what I want to drive myself towards. Back in mid 2017, I used to be a powergamer to the extreme and was moreso well known for being good. After being in the vicinity of some higher role players, I realized, I didn't want to powergame and wanted to be more like them, known for my role play instead of my desire to win. So, I stopped trying to win and just began to enjoy myself for as much as I could. This made me "bad" in terms of robustness and etc, but it was what I wanted to do. After synthetics were released, I always wanted to try new things because trying new things is something I enjoy. Some people know me as a predator for some good RP when it rarely works. This is why I'd like to be whitelisted, to be given a chance to try one final thing.

Have you been banned from CM in the last month for any reason (we will check, and lies may result in immediate denial)?

No

Are you currently banned from any other servers and if so, why?

No

Do you understand that any player - donor or otherwise - can have their whitelist status revoked should they break our rules or the Synthetic Programming Guideline?

Of course.

Sorry I didn't get to this earlier, I try to keep the synthetic whitelist section always read for me, so I quickly scanned over this. Since you're a good RPer, this would take more effort out of me to review.

Now onto it: You deliver a very uniquely mundane story if that makes sense. Your story includes basically what every other synth has, waking up, helping medical, talking to commander, but you do it in such a way that it doesn't bore me or make me feel like you just copied another application.

I love your quirk, for the fact that it is a very RPable quirk, and also makes sense within the lore of synthetics. It makes a lot of sense to bring a synthetic on that is prone to give militaristic advice and projected statistics.

This is an easy +1 from me, very proud of you.

A great story, I enjoyed reading it - like Jakk said you placed it together and made it somewhat original.

You are a great player, you can roleplay very well and you know the lore,

Sadly I don't see you play shipside roles very often but I am certain that you know most of the stuff.

You already have a predator whitelist and you're a reliable player.

Thanks brother. The reason you haven't seen me as a ship side role at all would be partially because I'm currently on vacation and will be returning on the 6th of August. Been on vacation since mid-June.

I've never played with you directly, but I think we've talked before. Based on your application alone and the dedication you showed and what everyone says about your roleplay abilities, I can add a +1 to this.

At least you can't FF anyone as a synth.

In all seriousness: solid app, good quirk, competent roleplayer.

Titan is a great moderator overall. From what i've seen he handles predator very well and can't see a reason why he shouldn't get a synth whitelist.

App looks good, story is nice to read and just give him that whitelist.

Shouldn't be any issues arising from this one being accepted, I'll give it a +1. Story shows what it needs to and the quirk is something that can be worked out to be distinct enough from others to be individually notable as a synth.

It's obvious that a lot of effort went into this application and overall and on top of that Ed ticks the boxes needed on the person side for the role, roleplayer, rule follower, active.
Too bad even as a synthetic he'll find a way to FF people.

+1.

This is accepted on two fronts, a good app and Titan has been promoted to a manager.

Resolved - Accepted for the reasons stated above.
