Forced Cryo in lieu of Execution

Post by Symbiosis » 08 Jul 2017, 16:40

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Executions for insulting a superior officer 7 times. They can happen and some CO's enjoy enforcing them at every chance they get. This logically will lead to a mutiny, as no Marine in their right mind would allow their fellow Marines to be executed for a petty crime. Forced Cryo would free up the slot, reduce the chance of a mutiny for a petty crime while still giving Marine Law teeth. Still allow executions for "Serious" crimes such as Murder, Terrorism, etc.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Let's be honest, less derpiness of people getting executed for Crimes that they realistically wouldn't be executed for.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Create Cryo tubes near the Brig.

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it): Create cryo tubes near the brig?

The problem with this is people can just jump out of cryo whenever they want. There is no way to force someone into cryo.

Having modified cryo pods that can't be ejected from the inside would be better.

This.

Just make them like the sleepers in escape pods, you can't eject from those.

We do have those on escape pods, so hm...possible maybe?

How? It makes alot of sense, if you were disruptive and a threat to the ship but you couldnt be killed. Cryoing you until the ship reaches port to hand you over to the authorities seems rather smart.

Perhaps. But logically, no Marine would be executed for petty insults/assaults. Not a single MP would pull that trigger, and any CO who was literally calling for it would be shot on sight, or would not have risen to the point of Command over a vessel to issue such command.

The Marine Law itself either needs an adjustment, or a manner to keep the memes and trolls in line, because right now they can exploit the law to antag.

I've been perma'd before for 12+ counts of insulting the MP's when I called them shitcurity. Safe to say it didn't go very well and I'd like marine law to be adjusted so that never happens to anyone else. After I was jailed, forcing me into a cryo tube would have been much better for me and everyone else there that day.

+1 so no one else writes out most of The lusty xeno morph maid on the paper in perma and get banned for a week because they were idiots ever again. Just having some cryo tubes like the escape pod ones in some back room of sec would help everyone a lot.

When I played MP you spent your whole round to get into more and more trouble, never backed off or accepted you can't do whatever you want. Tried constantly to escape and kill the MP. Sorry, you have an awful character which is totally insane. Permabrig is deserved.

That only happened like, once, and months ago at that. I was a person who didn't know much of anything about RP or robustness back then. I'm a changed man now and I can assure you my second trip to perma just a week ago was totally different then the time before that.

this seems very in keeping with aliens lore, if you ask me. wy operated that planet of exiled prisoners as a slave work camp sort of thing that served as the setting of alien 3, right, fiorina fury. if corporations and governments are willing to keep such violent inmates alive to enslave them, belligerent marines would likely also just be tossed in the freezer to be dealt with later.
