Larvae spawn with hidden on

Post by Ninjah! » 20 Jan 2016, 10:11

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary): Larvae have hide ON when spawned

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole): Larvae become alot easier to hide

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc): Larva spawns, hide is toggeld on so larva isn't easily visible. Will make it easier to hide them when they're SSD causing them to not just easily get taken out by John Rambo

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

So, larva tearing it's way out of chest and immediately crawl under body, eh?

Larva die because of the queen's carelessness. If she made a larva chamber which is very well protected she wouldn't have SSD larva dying. But I see what you're making just doesn't seem a bit right. Neutral.

It's less Queen carelessness and a lack of caring on the part of Xenos. I played 3 rounds the other day where 3+ runners ran around infecting all the monkeys on the map, but didn't bring a single one back to the next. It's damn near impossible for an abandoned larva to safely get back to the next like that without getting stumbled upon by marines and shot to hell.

It's not too crazy for an abandoned larva to make it back to the north without getting shot. It's the SSD larva that will die because there's not a human player in charge capable of using night vision to their advantage. I'm feeling -1 on this since the chestbursting should definitely be noticeable and it'd be weird for the larva to instantly be hidden.

Sort of like a mini add on suggestion to this, perhaps have it so when it reaches the final stage of infection the larva instead of bursting would be inside of the marine player, and then when the larva decides to activate a verb in the alien tab they can eject themselves out.On a side note there would probably be a max time of staying in a human and then when that time is reached you would be force ejected if you hadn't already.

That would be fair enough, But it would be a nerf to marines ((Which they already should have)) So i'm okay with this, +1

Second mini add on idea, maybe allow people to join in as both bursted and infected larvas?
Wich would allow the larva to tell where their host was,and if it was safe to burst.
+1 though

But back on the main suggestion,it would help if they hid, wouldnt make sense at burst, maybe give them a twenty second timer after the burst,if it doesnt have a player, and once its up the larva engages hide?

-1 On Larva starting hidden when they burst, bursting from someone is not exactly a discreet scenario, the Larva should at least have to get to ground itself.

If your going to go with the part of allowing a controlled Larva to stay inside a host, take a page from a prior suggestion in that they can do so but they will be forced to leave the body after a while, so that while they can chose when to burst but they are given a limited window to do so before its forced on them.
This is war, survival is your responsibility.

This should be a separate suggestion entirely, and it's a fucking brilliant one. Larvae don't have to be forced to instantly burst on the shuttle, where they're surrounded by marines prepared to insta-kill them, and it kind of ties in with alien cunning. Like 6 from Alien vs Predator 3, who opted to go through the throat. Even larvae know how to be smart!

Giving this thread a friendly bump, the quote sam mentions is a good suggestion and allowing larvae to self-burst is a good thing that would improve gameplay

im gonna go with +1 bump, because i think larva naturally seek safety instinctively, and try to hide even without player intervention. possibly have larva hide under objects after 1-2 seconds after they chest burst, would be reasonable.
