Improve the "Hive Status" command

Post by DrHurts » 08 Sep 2016, 11:28

Summary (a quick, 2-3 sentence summary):

Improve the Check Hive Status command. List the correct number of live aliens. List dead aliens at the bottom, if at all. Organize aliens by caste, tier, and maturity.

Benefits (How this will benefit the server and game as a whole):

Currently, the Check Hive Status command gives a disorganized report. It is difficult and time-consuming to use effectively. This is especially true for the Queen, who is expected to organize the Hive's evolution and upgrades. Improving this command so it's organized would decrease frustration and aid the Hive. Alien players should be able to tell the Hive status at a glance.

Details (Description of how you think this would work, the benefits, etc):

This seems pretty simple. Put in some headers. Organize the lists by caste, tier, and maturity. Either delete the dead aliens or show them only at the bottom of the lists. (If you're feeling super-fancy, you could probably do this with an attractive graph or chart.)

Implementation (Optional, if you have an idea how to implement it):

Not a coder, so no idea. But this doesn't seem complex.

Actually, if the currently open slots at t2 and t3 were shown that would be great

Agreed. I meant to mention that. It's close to impossible to understand the potential of the Hive right now.

Oh if it could list the current calculated number of slots available for T2 T3 and number of those slots taken (eg. 3/4 T2)

Plus listing the dead at the bottom and SSD/player joinable xenos at the bottom so new larvae can quickly see what and how many castes are actually active

It's also worth noting that the "total alive sisters" number comes from all aliens, even dead ones, I feel like that might be a bug. Either way, it'd be great if the hive status was more organized therefore I support this tweak.
As an alien, I am an advocate for ancient spitters.
As a marine, I'm either an Indian tech support BO or a friendly-firing power donkey.
