No, but i'm downloading it currently to see how it works. I'll most likely ask current staff questions if i get accepted on how to be proficient at is, as well.
Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each of the following situations. Do not write on the same line as the situation - use the space below it or make space as needed. Failure to do this proves your inability to follow instructions and your application will be automatically denied.
1. A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him.
First, i will bwoink the shooter and ask them why they have shot the other person. While waiting for a reply i would check the player's note history to see if this is a repeated/common problem.
- When they respond, if they respond it is a accident, and they have clean notes, i would warn them, advise them to holster their weapons in the future, and aheal the other player.
- If i were to determine this was done on purpose, but it was their first offence, i would give the player a warning to not do it again, refer them to the rules on proper escalation, and add a note to them.
- If this is a common problem/repeated offence, i will administer a ban, and add a note and aheal the person who was shot. (If they have not received medical attention already).
2. The ship has a breach to space and a bunch of players have died or are dying as a result.
While i do not belive breaching is even possible anymore, i would first attempt to use admin magic to close the breach if i am able. If i would be unable to use admin-magic, i would refer this to a Staff Member that would be able to fix it. After the breach is fixed, i would aheal all parties harmed, and then go about locating the cause of the breach.
3. You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost.
I would send him a Admin PM asking if he is new and would like some help, answer as many questions he has as possible, and linking him to the Quick Start Guide.
4. A player is being very rude to you in Adminhelps and requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member.
While i personally do not care much about how people talk to me, i would ask the person to please be respectful when they are talking to a staff member. I also see nothing wrong with getting a Admin+ Staff member to talk to them, if one is free and willing.
5. You notice a player with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules. The player is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, no one has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
I would remind the player that even if nobody has said anything before, it is still breaking the rules. I would then ask them to change their name at the next oppertunity, and give them a temporary name for the round (If i am able too).
6. You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green with no threat present.
This is a IC Issue for the MPs to deal with.
7. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
Medic's can no longer preform Surgery. If they somehow found a way to do surgery, i would alert the devs in a gitlab bug report and warn the player for powergaming if it is a first offence, and also note them.. If it is repeated, then a ban might be in order.
8. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
I would send a Queen Mother message to the Queen saying that the hive is failing, and to go out honorably in battle.
9. The round ends, a MARINE starts shooting a hostile CLF member and the CLF member Adminhelps complaining he was killed after the round ended.
I would inform the CLF member off the wording of our EORG rules, which do allow for human-human combat if they are of hostile factions.
10. A marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start.
I see this as a IC issue, but if a player adminhelps complaining i will PM the disarmer asking them to stop, citing rule three. I would then add a note to them.
11. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
- If this is a first offence, i would warn them of our escalation rules and link him to them, and add a note. I would also aheal the person who was shot.
- If this is a repeated/common offense, a ban would be in order. I would also aheal the person who was shot.
I would check to see if any Admin+ Staff Members are online and in the server. If there are, i would inform them of the situation. If there are none, i would go into slack and ask for a Admin+ to come and, and also inform them of the problem in VC.
13. There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it.
IC Issue. Some marines RP a tad bit racist. If they go too far, then i would talk to them about it.
14. A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off.
I would aheal all parties involved, and immediately ban the offender for seven days and put a request on the perma-board.
15. You see a player playing a xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines and die.
- PM the player asking why they did that. If it is a first offense, warn them and give them a note. If they seem new, i will link them to the Xeno Quickstart guide and Rules page.
- If it is a repeat offense, then a Xeno Job ban may be required.
If the player is not doing it that often, i will most likely leave them alone. If they do it constantly, i will PM them and remind them of our RP standards, and add a note.
17. A xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different xeno player complains to you that it's metagaming/failRP to call it a "dropship".
This is not a issue, from the rules page: "Xeno hivemind is an English translation of their thoughts, so words such as “hydro” or “shuttle” are acceptable"
18. A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet.
I'll PM the player reminding them of our rules on Metaknowledge, note them, and then most likely make a LOOC statement telling the briefing-attendees that they do not know about the Aliens.
19. A Marine kills another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself.
This is difficult. I personally feel that if it is RPed will enough, then it is a IC issue. However, if they did not RP it at all, then i will note and warn them under rule 14, if it is a first offense. If not, then a ban might be considered.
20. You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforcing a rule.
I'll attempt to correct them in m-say, and if that fails, i'll make a report to a higher-up.
20a. You see a fellow staff member abusing his powers in-game.
I'll alert the mod manager or admin manager, and tell them the situation with the evidence i have.
21. You see a player talking in OOC chat about what he did with your mom last night.
It's the internet. I don't pay attention to things like this.
