On average, how many hours are you available per week to moderate?
0-60ish depending on how much I sleep.

Do you have any previous experience in being staff (not just SS13)?
Yes, TG for 4 months and mentor here on CM.

Did you play any of the previous Colonial Marine servers?
Sulaco but unsure if that's counted as different.

What are the 3 biggest servers you play on besides CM?
Was TG, and CM but now strictly CM.

Besides hosting minecraft servers for friends, no.

No

Yes, paradise, yogs, hippie, most of them. Back in 2014 when I first started playing ss13, all of them that I remember have been successfully appealed.

Are you familiar with the chat program Slack (its use is required)?
Yes.

Common Staff Situations:
Write a description of what you would do in each of the following situations. Do not write on the same line as the situation - use the space below it or make space as needed. Failure to do this proves your inability to follow instructions and your application will be automatically denied.

1. A player randomly shoots someone at round start and MPs have detained him.
Round start shenanigans are not allowed. Check their notes, see if there is a history of this in their notes. If there has been, explain that this isn't the first time and how this behavior is unacceptable, they should know this already and state that I will be applying a 3hour ban if they merely have a note or two on this, if more, explain due to their constant break of this rule it'd be a 24 hour ban. If this is a first case for them explain the issue, how they messed up and the rule for it, apply a note there-after.

2. The ship has a breach to space and a bunch of players have died or are dying as a result.
Doubtful this could happen but it does and has recently. Patch the hole up, place some warning items like signs down and aheal those affected.

3. You see a player walking around the ship naked and clearly lost.
If there are mentors on, poke them to snag that as that's their department but else if no mentors are on, snag them and help them with any questions they have and refer them to the rules to read up and watch them as I handle other ahelps.

4. A player is being very rude to you in Adminhelps and requesting to speak to an Admin+ staff member.
Politely state that they cannot choose who they get to respond to their ahelps and that I can help them with any issues they may have. I myself would stay professional and polite and do my job like normal, no reason to make it more difficult.

5. You notice a player with a name that doesn't fit our naming rules. The player is arguing that: They've used the name for several years, no one has told them to change it before, and that they didn't know it was a rule.
Bwoink them and let them know their name does not fit our naming policy. While they may have had the name and slipped past some other moderators it is no excuse for them to ignore our rules. I'd change their name to be fitting and that they are okay with and tell them to change it before next round and apply a note regarding the naming policy rule break.

6. You see a Maintenance Tech running around in armor and carrying a rifle. The security level is green with no threat present.
I'd bwoink the MT and see if he was deploying with permission of the CE, if so all is fine. Else wise I'd let them know that crew aren't allowed guns on green alert. Check their notes and see if they do this often, if so then apply note and explain they need to read up on the alert levels and link them the page.

7. You see a Squad Medic performing surgery on the planet. He claims it was because there were no doctors in the FOB.
Medics mechanically cannot do this. Cannot happen, but would explain they aren't allowed IC'ly to perform surgery as they are medics and not doctors. Apply note that I warned them.

8. The round is stagnating. There are 30 marines and 4 aliens. The marines won't leave the ship, and the aliens won't attack. What would you do, to "encourage" the sides to engage each other?
QM tell the xenoes to not be cowards and to charge the tall hosts! HM report that there's only 4 left, each man that bags one earns a medal!

9. The round ends, a MARINE starts shooting a hostile CLF member and the CLF member Adminhelps complaining he was killed after the round ended.
Opposing factions may continue to fight. No EORG here, not an issue.

10. A marine is running around disarming, punching and stealing gear at round start.
No round start shenanigans, one this would be close to starting a large brawl and since he is a singular person doing so that's entirely on them. First check their notes and see if they have a history of such, if so bring the punishment up one step. Speak with them asking them if they know why I'm talking with them, explain that roundstart trouble is bad, explain what they did exactly to be brought to my attention and that they should not do this in the future and apply a note if no history. Else if there's history, but no prior ban 3hour ban else 24 if they have some extended history such as 2-3 with a 3hour ban already.

11. A marine has killed another marine. When you ask him why, he said it was because the other marine had punched him.
A case of improper escalation. Explain to the offender how proper escalation works, fists to fists, fist to knife, knife to knife, knife to gun, gun to gun, gun to murder. Which this track shouldn't need to be used ever but how it should go in slow increments. Explain that because the marine had punched them did not mean murder was the next step and that they should call MP's if they cannot or MP's do not show, leave the area or disarm them and leave. Apply note for the murder and aheal the killed marine if on planet. If history of this, apply 3hour ban and aheal the murdered marine.

12. An issue arises that requires Admin+ abilities.
Assuming that no admins are on due to myself being the one to handle this, figure out the issue, how it started, and do what little I can to fix the issue while I notify an admin on slack and provide all the information I've gathered and those involved.

13. There are minor racist comments going on IC. 9 of the 10 people are laughing and RPing but one player gets offended and Adminhelps about it.
Explain that while minor racism is allowed and it seems that they are the only one with an issue about it, I'd recommend they move from the player being racist IC'ly. Tell them if the player follows or the player becomes excessive with it to ahelp again and I will speak with the player about the racism. Example, soft nigga in someone speech pattern and then player 2 dislikes it and player 1 starts using the hard R is when I would step in or they follow player 2.

14. A marine opens fire at round start in briefing killing multiple marines and instantly logs off.
Not much to do with them since they logged off. I'd start with ahealing the players affected and applying a 24h ban. It'd be a 3h ban for the murder, but due to logging off immediately I'd bump it up to 24hours.

15. You see a player playing a xeno larva/chestburster run towards the frontlines and die.
I'd check their logs to see any reason if they were ordered or had to move to the frontlines first. I'd then bwoink the player and get their story. If they seem like they genuinely got killed by accident and not just rushing up to die, with evidence from logs I'd give them a verbal warning and a note to watch for this behavior. Else I'd explain the issue at hand of using up a larva and apply note and a 3h ban for this and ask they read our rules to ensure they know what to and not to do.

16. You see a xeno memeing, saying AYYLMAO, REEEEEE etc in hivemind chat.
Bwoink the player to calm down the memes. Not a big problem but does ruin some immursion.

17. A xeno player calls the shuttle a "dropship". A different xeno player complains to you that it's metagaming/failRP to call it a "dropship".
That's fine, the hivemind/xeno speech is the english translation of their language.

18. A Command staff player at briefing near round-start mentions there are aliens on the planet.
Bwoink the command staff, explain that while they are called to the planet to help, they don't know whats on the planet and they don't know about the xenoes. Then make an OOC announcement to ignore what the command staff said. Apply note incase of future instances of this happening again.

19. A Marine kills another Marine on the EVAC Pod to take the last spot and claims it was RP as he was saving himself.
While this is abit of a tricky situation I believe if there was a lot of evidence in their logs of them emoting and acting out with speech of fear and desperation IC, and while I speak to them they show remorse over murdering another person to get on but xenoes were close, I'd allow this to happen but give the player a verbal warning to be very careful about this as it can be tricky to know if it's roleplayed out correctly. Apply note to watch for possible abuse of this for future reference.

20. You see a fellow staff member give wrong information in an Adminhelp or incorrectly enforcing a rule.
Happens all the time, give your piece that you believe that the answer is wrong and it's up to them to say to the player they were wrong, I shouldn't jump into their ahelp to say they are wrong but try to help inform them if they don't know the correct information.

20a. You see a fellow staff member abusing his powers in-game.
I would take screenshots of this as it's a very serious issue, and bring it up privately to their manager in a private chat immediately. It's not my job to confront them about it, but their managers.

21. You see a player talking in OOC chat about what he did with your mom last night.
Cool? Don't respond.

Any additional information you'd like to add?
As shown in my answers, I didn't want to repeat word for word that the correct course of action is, take the ahelp, figure out the issue at hand, check players notes to see if they do this often, get evidence from logs and players, determine punishment, explain punishment, apply. So sorry for the varying depth of detail but I didn't want each answer to seem like a copy paste of the last.

In my short time as Staff, Daturix has demonstrated an excellent knowledge of rules and procedures for moderating, and has helped me out a few times personally. I have absolutely no doubt that the transition from Mentor to Moderator would be seamless for them, and that they would do an excellent job. With that said, two of the answers are slightly incorrect.

6. This is a purely IC issue for MPs to handle, although it may be worth PMing them to see if they're new, and just very confused.

14. This is an immediate 7 day ban, and a filing for a perma.

Overall, +1.

Understandable on 6. 14's situation I haven't seen anything close to but went with what information that I've seen happen.

I believe this to be shenanigans since you must go through some time and effort to get to prep and get guns. In my experience as mentor and helping newer players, they haven't accidentally shot someone before and the other half of the playerbase who are regulars know not to do that. Now accidents happen all the time which is perfectly fine, grenades become primed in req trasnfer sometimes, but with these questions are how someone would react in a staff position so I left out the inclusion of an accident.

Thank you for positive points guys, if there's anything you've seen that I can improve here or while in game please do tell as I'd like to improve in any way I can.

+1 As long as you understand as a mod your job is to steal the mentors ahelps. Which (and i know this is inconceivable for mentors) means having to actually mark them :O I KNOW SHOCKHORROR.

Week ban is only really needed when the grief and logging off is repeated, ie already has a note on it.
Other issues can be worked out in a trial so +1.
