I appreciate this so much. People would do the same boring thing round after round if it got them an assured victory.

So always getting wiped out by screeches, huggers and attrition isn't "the same boring thing round after round"? :s

Seriously people, the CM staff are fully capable of rationalizing their incomprehensible design choices. They don't need your help.

Embracing the suck would be a lot easier for me if I didn't always die to either being pounced, hugged and/or killed. Or stun locked by a Spitter who is also clawing me to death or shoots me through the corner of a resin nest cage when I'm captured.

Dying any other time, I can accept without much complaint.

Man, that happens. The best tip I can give you is don't go alone! Hunter pounces and runner pounces aren't that powerful, if you have atleast 1-2 more marines watching your back it's so much easier
And the same applies for the spitter combat. Just stay TOGETHER instead of rambo-ing
And when you're captured, don't fret man. You're not intended to escape, it's supposed to be near impossible. Just live with it and learn to enjoy it

Until they are Elite/Ancient, at that point, just NEVER go off anywhere ALONE, their pounces are long to give you a tackle, keeping you down longer, or a facehug, and hunter one recharges fast enough to pounce multiple marines before the first one get's up.

You are unluckily to see a Ancient Hunter tho, so you should mostly be safe, ancient runners aren't very uncommon, but they just go down into instead death from one good ol cuckshot with all projectiles hitting.

Yeah

Just like, stick with your squad and pounces shouldn't be a problem

Pouncing is 100% countered by just being beside another marine.

Alone and youre fucked, which is accurate to the alien universe.

Considering how incompetent most marines are, I'd say even then you're fucked. Which is pretty kek.

Literally every single issue a standard marine can fall into can be prevented by being with more marines. Competent marines with the same mindset, that is.

Bad luck: Getting pounced alone.

Worse luck: Getting pounced then point blanked by the people you trust to help you.

Yeah that is true, 70% of the time my complaints have happened was when I ended up getting stranded somewhere or my comrades got cut off/killed. I'm fine with not being able to escape, I just don't like how a spitter doesn't even have to open up my cell to pin me back into a nest, just "breaks free" > "Spitted out of nowhere" > Door opens up > Nested cause I'm still stunned. If they open the door then spit, I get far less salty cause at least I'm given a chance, no matter how futile it may be.

Feweh wrote:Pouncing is 100% countered by just being beside another marine.
In theory yes, and sometimes it works, one time I got pounced by a runner and a marine next to me buck-shotted it off me, killing it instantly. That however, was a best case scenario. Other times, I see marines get pounced, but then the hunter circles around the marine while hes down, slashing him all the while doing this, I start shooting but then am forced to stop cause the marine gets up and me and a few others are forced to helplessly watch for 4 seconds until the hunter ran off. Because odds are, we were FAR more likely to friendly fire then hit the hunter, that was my worst case scenario. The typical encounters though can be, but not always, marine favored. even in an organized squad, I've seen a marine get pounced, slashed 1-3 times, and/or huggered and escape with maybe a couple of bullet holes. Which truth be told, is a rather equal exchange if friendly fire isn't a factor, if so the Aliens usually get the better end of the engagement if they can force FF. They "usually" only get killed if the Runner/Hunter made a critical mistake like pouncing a guy next to a Shot/Smart gunner or hit a wall and got stunned.

I believe it's better to go off as your chances of survival is more when there is no marine to FF your downed ass.

Protip for shooting pouncing Xenos.

Runner: DONT. Runner pounce is short, that marine will get back up in a second and you'll hit them instead.

Hunter: Click BEHIND the hunter. You won't hit the marine on the ground then, but you'll still fire at it and hit it.

Also seriously use melee when Xenos try and run close and dance around, no chance of FF and more damage than you'd expect.

Decapping the SL is far more effective than actually fighting xenos anyway.

It ain't as easy as it sounds depending on who your fighting against, I tried meleeing a dancing hunter with my Rifle bayonet, but the bastard was moving so fast I couldn't get my cursor on their freaking sprite, I ended up bring critted and dying shortly after. Never the less, I'd encourage this, since Marines need to improve their melee game. Even if a single spit or pounce will render you completely defenseless.

I'd say usual SS13 rules seem to apply here, the goal is not to be clicked, not to click your opponent first. I'm pretty fucking new though so maybe I'm wrong.

I find that communication is the #1 counter to the Xeno threat, that and following orders. If the marines were to abide by these two things you would be seeing the Marines winning well over 50% of the time.

I think that's the whole reason behind the new round end announcement, isn't marine/xeno major/minor victory .. now it's like the end of the book. Or the novel. I think it's pretty good. After you try so hard to win and you realize it doesn't matter because a new round started and nothing changed makes you think, winning isn't the main objective.

Getting roflstomped as a marine due to the new nerfs isn't fun gameplay either, whether someone wants to win or is content with losing.

Losing is only fun when you know you did all you could to prevent a loss, not because one side was easy moded by the Developers so that even a newbie could play it and kick ass unless they were absolutely bald.
