I was there that round and I did smell like griefing to me. The sad part is that the CO was an admin. Big thumbs down from me.

Player report for the MPs and CO that round is still open if you want to go and contribute to it.

It was rightfully locked because the discussion was getting pretty circular. I am still really disappointed that two staff members were directly involved in the event, and I hope that if nothing comes of it, that they at least understand they should be more careful about extremely disruptive things like that in the future.

"Alright, first off, CO aren't allowed to ban standard issue items like shotguns, SMGs, and so on. It's already been shown by multiple runs that these only cause problems. Now for the CO in question, I talked to them and they've been warned not to do this in the future. While I'm not going after all the MP for following the CO's orders, Rex Texas has been receiving many MP related notes and is getting a job-ban from MP/CMP for the time being. They're free to appeal this in the future. For more information regarding this kind of "CO round gimmick" check the CM Discord Announcements."

Well there you have it, the results are in, thoughts people?

The whitelisted CO that happens to be a staff member makes unauthorized order they are not even allowed to do, CMP/MP's lock into riot mode and doesnt question command over this decision, ohh no, but fully supports it escalating it into a mutiny, which happens to also be played by another staff member that doesnt even know their own rules properly that they themselves enforce...

The question is now, what would of been the outcome if these players werent staff, but regular players, a jobban/weekban at minimum or possibly even at maximum a permaban? Most likely.

The CO got one of the admins famous "stern talking to", with hands on hips and crossed eyebrows, the go-to "punishment" for staff against staff.Whilst Rex(RIP), everyones most hated cop ends up being the fall guy for the two clown admins that allowed all this to happen in first place, lol.

Theres more RP'ing happening out here than there is ingame.

And to Dr. Haley Altman, who after all medics were gone was fixing us time and again for hours straight. At the end there were over 10 patients around her either dead or in crit, and she just kept going."

Tbh I don't agree with Texas Jobban. IMO he plays the MP role decently.

But what happened, happened. He can always appeal in the future.

In all honesty I was fine with the shotgun ban gimmick up until the CO ordered the MPs to start cracking heads to enforce it. At that point, once you've received that backlash and decided to double down instead of relenting, I think you've earned whatever happens afterwards. That round was really not Rex Texas' fault, and he was not particularly egregious in comparison to the CMP or the MPs in general that round. I think they really just chose Rex to die for the sins of the entire MP section that round because Rex Texas was the most hated MP and they knew people would be satisfied if they thumped him.

still though, glad he got thumped for something

As I called, staff got the "Stern talking" and they put the fall on an MP. Albeit he is a hated MP for a reason and I'm glad he was punished, they basically let the two staff members off scott free because they're staff.

It's blatantly obvious that staff aren't punished nearly as harshly as players, at this point they should just come out and admit it.

Yeah I got a 3 hour ban for blowing Rex's head off after he was meta-targeting me several rounds in a row as MP. Blade fucks up an entire round for everyone and just gets talked to.

I'm not pleased with the result. A slap on the wrist for a staff member, who should be held to higher standards being so, AND a whitelisted commander, who should again be setting an example. As has previously been stated, though Texas is deserving of the jobban, he's been used as the fall guy whilst the staff members involved get off scot-free, as the warning will be forgotten about much like the Symb Deathsquad incident.

A recurring pattern is visible and has been for a while.

Ohh here we go, with that kind of mentality caleeb, go and join the staff team, thats exactly the kind of stupid comment that they pull.

Care to explain how this is exactly getting toxic bud? Because, as you can probably see with my last few posts, im trying to get a few laughs for people whilst at the same time getting them the truth and pointing it out, so how the flying fuck is that toxic exactly?

Its accusing a post or thread of being toxic that will cause it to be one, through power of suggestion, so if you dont have actually anything further to add other than a reason to shut down discussion,

Fuck off.

You want a real answer? Who cares? Crusading against the staff doesn't do anything.

Edit: Guess I need to add I haven't read the topic, I'm just bothered by the hypocrisy of how you responded to Al.

I love(hate) people like you that say "Ohh well i dont care about it" but the very thing you do is contribute by stating that exact fact, totally pointless.

If you dont care as much as you claim, why dont your actions show that and why exactly am i now reading a post about how much you dont care? Honestly, some of you are unbelievably stupid and couldnt see hypocrisy if it fell on you in the form of a 1 tonne truck.

Its people like you i dont really want to be conversing with in the first place, your comments are less useful than a platitude.

Yeah any other player would have been de-whitelisted or even banned for the shit the CO pulled. While I am happy to see Rex go, I think a proper staff complaint is now in order, focusing exclusively on the CO's actions.

Look... You just need to accept that, for now at least, there is a lack of existing accountability in place for Staff that violate the rules. (The one exception being mentors or “new” staff)

These things ebb and flow. Perhaps someday they’ll be held to the same standard that players are, but now is not that time. We’re in a pretty rough spot as a Community. We have staff that specifically state their intent is to grief as an experiment, MPs that are not bound by IC law or an OOC rule set that leads to them consistently griefing rounds, and unfortunately the lack of virtually any type of accountability for the Staff team as evidenced by the last month of resolved staff reports with the end result being a “Talking to.”

Once the summer numbers dwindle down and Corp Mercs is out full time I imagine there’ll be some changes. With viable alternatives, I doubt people will continue to put up with some of the rightfully questionable behavior occurring.

To play devil's advocate here for a second, we had a (non-staff?) CO do worse than this before, and not only did he not get punished for it, but the round also didn't turn into a complete shitshow because of it. If I had to make a cynical guess why, it's either because MPs have gotten worse and more hungry for derailing rounds, or because players have fed into an even higher mentality than ever of kicking off when they don't get their way and feed into the MP thing even more. Maybe it's a bit of both.

The round in question was Reno's M41A ban a few months back. As far as I remember, while it was obviously a marine loss, it didn't lead to the same level of meltdown and I'm fairly certain nobody really gave a shit about it immediately after it had ended.

Without a doubt. If MPs were required by server rule (like before) to follow Marine Law it wouldn’t be such an issue - OR if the CO could deal with MPs who break the law.

Right now we’re in this Twilight Zone where they can break the Law, arrest without investigation and without evidence, and if they derail a round excessively they face no consequences.

If a player fights back when an MP is in the wrong? They’re facing 24+ hour bans.

No one in their right mind is advocating for open season on the MPs. What most people want is accountability. Equal rules for both sides. If the last month had been a test, a quick glance over player reports and staff reports will show all the evidence needed.

MPs need checks and balances.

Also MP's still cannot break the law. They aren't required to enforce it for petty laws, like misdemeanors. But they themselves cannot break the law. This is why Rex Texas got a bannu, and all I can say is at least something good came of this.

It takes two to tango. Players are frustrated with MP's, and that's lead to a more hostile climate against them. But honestly... if you don't arrest people for dumb stuff you just aren't going to get lynched. Every time I have played CMP people have, at worst, been mildly apprehensive towards me. It's very easy to avoid becoming the bad guy, don't be the bad guy. There's been a few cases where completely undeserving MP's got caught in the crossfire, but for the most part I find it hard to completely fault players who fight back when MP's are threatening to take away half a round in playtime. Reducing timers might help, but largely I would prefer enforcement of rule 1, all-around really.

Not true.

Read the rules. SirLordington himself yesterday also stated that MPs don’t have to follow the law. Rex got banned for griefing, not breaking Marine Law.
