When did a Predator make your round more interesting?

Post by ThePiachu » 21 Jul 2018, 05:38

I've seen a lot of people complain about Predators and get salty when they are killed by them. A Pred killing xenos? Obviously that's why xenos lost. A Pred killing Marines? Obviously that's why the Marines lost. A Pred killing nobody? Obviously deadchat will be salty that it's a waste of a slot. Predator self-destructed? No fun quitter! Predator didn't self-destruct? Dishonourable!

So, when did a Preadator make your round more interesting? Whether directly to your character that encounter them, or at least give some amusement to deadchat that observed it?

----

I personally have a few good memories:

1) A Predator kidnapped a synth, fixed it up and then got into a fight with it on their ship. It was an interesting situation to watch unfold.

2) A Predator got infected by xenos and ended up fighting them for 20 minutes non-stop before hatching into an Abomination. Not an honourable way to die, but definitely a good way to play.

3) Marines manage to capture one barely alive. He got fixed up by a Researcher, and then ended up fighting their way out of a containment with whatever they had on hand before detonating themselves

4) One used a whip to fight various people and mock them whenever they'd be knocked down to the ground. It was a fun thing to witness

Before Feweh banned predators from taking slaves those were some of my most fun rounds. Basically a predator could take a survivor or even a marine and force them to build and watch the lodge under threat of death. Very fun rounds, usually had a lot of RP involved.

But like I said it was brought up on slack by me and a few others whilst we were talking about a past round and Feweh got word and banned it.

My experience with preds has mostly been positive. One time Sailordave's pred got ran over by a tank. I thought it was a lurker so I went up to machete it. Realized my mistake far too late, and people freed the predator for some bizarre reason. Round went by with Dave's pred aim intenting me several times while I was at the FOB. Phi's Boyfriend ended up dying on the dropship when it was boarded by the queen, and as I went outside the ship to try and push for LZ2, I got stunned and cuffed. Didn't really understand why for a split second, but it quickly clicked in my head what was going on. She drags me to an area with a space heater, clears out the snow, and challenges me to a duel without armor. I accept, and ask them that, if I die, they bring my corpse to where my SO is. I nearly beat them, a literal single hit from killing them, but Dave wins in the end. (Albeit I was mildly wounded and Dave's pred pretty beat up with at least one or two broken bones, so it wasn't particularly fair for him to start with)
True to their word, they drag my body back to the LZ where, unfortunately, his corpse was not. But it was as close as they could reasonably get, and that is all I asked for. The admins started spawning in aliens to fight Dave's predator, at which point it was flavored as them defending my grave. It was honestly a really amazing moment.

I did see both of those, although I only have video of one - https://youtu.be/y8ryQP2450w?t=10934 ;) . It was pretty good, a whole posse of people hunting down the predator.

Man, this sounds awesome! Did they have some sort of self-destruct collar on? It would be pretty neat if you could do that still, or say, make some xeno your "pet"...

Nop, purely roleplay and the threat that it'd just decap you if you resisted

We used to bring captured Marines onto the Pred and make them fight to the death. Winner is freed and given a trophy of sorts.

When I see a Marine go super ham and not die, I tend to try to capture them. The method of fighting without armor is the only way to duel Marines IMHO. It’s not about if you die as a Predator, it’s about making the round better for others.

Once upon a time I spawned as a random name marine and got abducted by a predator. He threw the alien knife at my feet and started a brawl. I eventually won and as I was butchering him on the ground I decided to patch him when suddenly another predator appears, charging his plasma caster. They both talked and I eventually got brought up their ship to be geared as a gladiator. Returned and fought ayys with the preds cloaked watching me killing sentinels and runners. They waved off a ravager from me once. All of this while talking to them and sharing lotta RP. When the round ended they TPed me on their vessel and I apparently was one of their equal.

Hell of a round.

I remember that round brother. I was actually intending to honor duel the other predator because he pretty much drove away the empress, which I was intending for you to fight as a final test. Hope you had fun though, I was intending to let you live but you knocked me out but instead let me live with a broken skull. Seeing as how you had the opportunity to kill me, I decided to take you on as an apprentice. Other guy was uh, just there to watch you and me really. Still, hope you had fun.

I shat my pant when he appeared and I was next to your KO body lol so I threw the med pouch as fast as I could.

But yes. This was the best round with predators I ever had and slighlty led me to want a synth or pred. Which I will apply soon.

Much love fam.

I always like watching predators cloak drag dead bodies across the map.

Aside from that my only fun memory was of a time when I interrupted a pred fighting a marine and pumped three or four buckshot shells into it while it was downed. It got up and beat me to death but other marines finished it off and I got defibbed, so all's well that ends well.

I never banned Predators from taking Slaves, Apop did.

That's what I thought, I was told otherwise by someone else who was there.

One answer: When there are no Preds, this is more interesting.

Xenos always watch preds and if you try a little bit of RP, just when a "cloud" appears above your head, then they charge from vents to fuck you up. What preds are doing in that situation? Laugh and fuck around. They kidnapped Med Researcher, or Synth? Are you trying to get him back non-lethal, by just talking? Plasma to your face, your unworthy, how could you interrupt RP with my Metabuddy? Then laugh and fuck around. Are you telling them to not come close to you? Do you wield your weapon? INSULT! Plasma to face is the response. Xenos are running around pred, what he is doing? De-cloak, laugh and fuck around. Are you fighting with xenos, but pred came into middle and get shot? Plasma to the face will teach you how to aim.

If somebody is not "server's cool kid" then all he can expect is a plasma, or wristbalde to the face. Or atleast I have only those experience. I feel like Predator role is just MP and Xeno combined. Xeno mains disgust me, MP mains I fear, but Pred Mains I fear in disgust.

The time one of them threw garbage at us.

No, seriously. We were the FOB squad on Big Red. A predator built their lodge in the cave north of LZ1 and was in the marshal's office, cloaked and doing the standard predator spooks. But we were being super cautious because we were supposed to be guarding the FOB, so we mostly just stood there and tried to figure out what it was. So then it started throwing random trash at us while laughing. The specialist didn't like this, and tried to light it on fire. This went... poorly. It went even worse when the SO started screaming at all of us in all caps to kill the predator at all costs so we all charged in wildly and it self-destructed on us, leaving me in paincrit with a missing arm and a bunch of us dead.

Then there was the time a predator abducted me as a synth and took me to his torture lodge, where he had an engineer's severed head and tags and mentioned he had eaten them. He sealed me behind a girder and went to go find more marines to hunt... whereupon I immediately escaped because he didn't take my tool pouches. I took the severed head, the tags, and the surgical saw, brought them back up to the ship, dropped them all on the CMP's desk, and tried to convince him to go arrest the predator for murder. The CL also asked me to fax WY about it because he was busy dying somewhere on the planet but the round ended before they replied.

When a predator tried to join our papers please Corpse Guard event.

Tried signing up on one of our forms and he just legit facerolled the keyboard. Arguably one of the funniest shit I've ever seen.

He kept holding the paper up and roaring at the desk clerk saying "This is the correct format." Mein sides was in fucking orbit. Than he SD'd after he tried to shove the paper in the Clerks face through force.

Once on prison station i was a with another survivor and a pred decided to save us from certain death and train us in the art of the hunt. We we're fixed up in surgery, got geared in gladiator armor, went back to the station, and after a bit of running around and confusing random boots we got CASed by the dumbfounded marines who were aiming at xenos who had just fled the sight of the pred. Pred hd to self destruct because he got hit the hardest, and the rest of the round was pretty boring after I got saved (I think the other guy died).

Also bad blood rounds are good you guys are just mean.

I find Pred apprentice rounds extremely entertaining but the round itself usually ends quickly and there is not much time to do stuff.

I would love to see round x round connection minievents
For example becoming an apprentice one round and having a hunt in the next round.
