Regarding the code leak and why it doesn't matter.

So as I'm sure everyone is hearing from the spreading news, it is true that our code was leaked yesterday during Rahl's departure. While the direct source of the leak is not known, it was confirmed to not be BMC and Nic, so don't place any of this blame on them. Along with this, we strongly believe that no current devs have done this and I don't doubt any of them. This means that Rahl is currently the biggest unknown, but due to a lack of evidence on this, please do not harass Rahl or anyone else over these events. What is known is that the code is in external hands.

All of that said, this changes nothing about CM-SS13 and who we are. Our code is not the reason we're the most popular SS13 server around, it's our community. Our devs, moderation team, head staff, and playerbase are things no sever will ever be able to match. Any other server that attempts to use our code will be nothing more than weak clones hopelessly clawing at our glory, hollow shells that dream to take our position while wishing put no effort of their own in. The code is all they have and each update we push is just another step forward and that much further behind they all fall behind. We didn't get to where we are by following, we got here by leading and that's what we're going to continue to do. I know we all bitch at each other and complain our asses off over small things, but we're all still here over the years and still the same community we've always been. I wonder if that's a good or bad thing sometimes, but we are what we are, the 2D spaceman drama community.

For a more serious note about this as a whole, this doesn't discourage us and it's important to know that almost all of our upcoming updates were not in this code. On top of this, the code leak is nowhere close to the polish we have on ours. The code was leaked in the past and made no difference then and the same will be for today. We're all moving forward with our heads held high and this doesn't discourage us in the least. If anyone else thinks they'd have any shot at overtaking us, they're hopelessly delusional because they're literally one update from withering on the vine. This only helps motivate us to make CM even more amazing. Thank you, everyone, for helping to make CM-SS13 what it is today and we know that we'll only continue to grow up from here.

Update: Since this post, Rahl has gotten back to me and said the leak hasn't come from him and doesn't want his lasting legacy regarding our server to be tied to the code leak.

The current code being run by another server is in really bad shape. It's unknown how much of this is them just being bad or if parts are just missing.

I've seen code leaks here and many other communities over the years, and itbreally doesnt make an impact with anything other than rejuvenation of the developers work.

I remember the last one made CM twice as strong while the other one died rather quick.
