I know maps take time to make, but this is just a map idea throwaway with probably a lot of plot holes and bad general ideas that could just flow out that idea. So.....

Festival Map
The map takes place on a resort with an urban like feel mixed with some green here and there. The festival in concept is like Ice, it has 2 Z-levels, the resort and the sewer/research. The point of this map is to provide marines with that moment of realising that they walked in on a sick mess where the company caused something and the CL may face a lot of heat. Idea was inspired by how the company is usually two face in their research and their promotions

Large Ship
The map takes place on a derelict vessel which is a large civilian ship of unknown classification. The point why this vessel is a thing is because it was delivering xenomorph eggs that were improperly set and was set free by of course the Company.


That’s really it on my ideas, do you guys got anything else?

I like the festival map idea, it gives more of a feeling of humanity and being in a civilian area instead of some chrome walled colony. The large ship sounds sort of like a prison station map (large metal vessel in space) with less personality though.
When the OB misfires and xenos are on your doorstep.

If I ever became a mapper, I had an idea for a map that was based around a colony that has a hefty mineral mining corporation, with a handful of underground mines scattered about that could lead marines and xenos to different parts of the map, as well as having a heavy industrial feel to it, with barren dirt and heavy machinery all scattered about, as well as lots of unmined minerals...

... Said minerals being highly unstable and capable of exploding in a fashion similar to a wielderfuel tank, creating deadly fields of minerals that marines and xenos have to be careful around, as well as being perfect for giving careless people a nasty surprise if they stray too close and a spit/bullet hits a mineral cluster.

Large resort ship on a ocean planet. Said planet just happened to be a hunting ground for Yautja but has not been visited in over a thousand years. The Company has created a mega-class resort ship for the extremely wealthy and well to do. Tectonic shifting on the planet has cracked the underwater temple that housed the xenomorph eggs. Xenomorphs use the large fish population to create a hive and eventually attack the ship, leaving it stranded far away from the only port on the planet and the ship is taking on water.

The actual map itself is seperated out to a large ship filled with many amenities, with one of the end ship taking on water which slows marines down. Add in map exclusive Swimmer type xenos that can move faster in water. The design of the ship can pretty much be whatever you want it to be, its the future

I had an idea for a Desert Planet, and it is an old timey outpost in the middle of some Mesa Plateau like Canyons. There would be 2 Z Levels, the Main one is on ground level, with Paths through the canyons leading to an area where a Hive could be, and the 2nd level would be on top of the Mesa Plateaus. Where the valleys are would be like kind of a mix between Ladders and Fallen elevators, in that you can look down them, but you can also fall down them and hurt yourself. Thoughts?

Map concepts are whatever a mapper is inspired to make, if you want to see a mapping idea learn to map and apply as a mapper.

There are some good youtube videos on it, the tg station wiki has a good article on learning how to map (Note that mapping for bay and tg are decently different), and beyond that it's creativity and some basic understanding of ss13 code

Honestly learning how to map is easy. Getting the concept and visualizing the concept into coherent parts is the hard part. You need to have an objective in mind of what you want to accomplish with the map and, if you aren't a good spriter, a good enough mapper to convey how something looks without proper sprites. This is the biggest hurdle for me as a map should feel and flow naturally, and how it looks compliments this effect.

There was actually a desert dam map in the leaked code I found that looked basically complete. Dunno who was making it or what the plan was for it but it looked awesome
