Whiskey Outpost feedback

Post by ThePiachu » 13 Aug 2018, 03:56

So, looks like Whiskey Outpost is being tested every now and then. So how about we create a thread for feedback on the map so devs would have some reference and so they won't get flooded with too many issues on GitLab?

So here are some of my notes...

----

From first WO test:

- A fair amount of odd items need to be added - I had people asking for Medical HUDs, medical pouches, I personally could use some body armour as a researcher, or a firefighter's hat, etc. Heck, I had problems even finding a crowbar to open crates in forward medbay...
- The place is very very dark - buildings could use some higher-wattage bulbs ;)
- First line of defence needs to be more interesting. Otherwise people will just send all 4 squads to defend it and that would be that. Maybe it would be cool if initially you had 4 points to defend, that would collapse into 2 points, and then into 1 point? Or heck, just give xenos access to all 3 frontlines from the get-go or something
- Game can get laggy towards later waves - some good garbage cleaning routine would need to be added to remove everything that's not useful

----

From today's WO test:

- We need some general WO map - a rough outline of the major locations at least (the ones you can send packages to). Without this Requisitions and probably a number of other people will have hard time coordinating.
- Requisitions needs a vendor for the attachments - it's hard to right-click and pick up needed attachments from a large stack - the game freezes up for a few seconds each time :P
- Requisitions has a lot of mk 1 pulse rifles, but carries ammo for mk 2 pulse rifles only. Me and a fellow CT had to resort to using those guns as single use :P
- The delivery chute from Requisitions was not connected to the delivery network until an admin stepped in to fix it
- I don't think I saw any webbing or angled grips available - a lot of people have been asking for them

Alt clicking on piles saves lives just a FYI. I agree with moost of the other feedback though

The Alt Clicking "ground" list takes 4 seconds to pop up after clicking, and it also takes 4 seconds each time the list changes to update. This has been a thing for a while now, and it still hasn't been fixed yet, so Alt Click is a mess and I wouldn't go near it at all.

Oh yeah, another thing - give Requisitions Flares. A few people have asked for those! :D

Having xeno corpses dissolve at some point would help. Since, unlike marines with their gear and supplies, xeno corpses serve no purpose outside trophies.

I believe there is a "cleanup" phase during the pause between waves. This is when all the xeno corpses disappear.

Either the clean up doesn't happen every wave, or it's borked a little bit, because the last WO test (aka the one that this post talks about); the cleaning didn't happen at all after Wave 5, and it got really really laggy

Well, cleanup of xeno corpses does happen, but there is a lot more that could be cleaned up - blood splatters, bullet casings, empty magazines, etc. Not sure how many of those are cleaned up, but certainly if you want high performance you'd clean up a lot on WO specifically (since you don't have to deal with say, Carrier traps).
